Some people come in with low self-esteem, because they are missing a front tooth or two. That has left them feeling ashamed and as a result they dont smile and possibly havent smiled for a very long time. Restoring those missing teeth, with natural-looking materials, can instill new confidence and boost their self-esteem. They walk out with a smile thats brimming with joy!

Dentistry, to me, is about helping people change their lives. Whether thats restoring function, removing pain, or making a smile more attractive, I want each patient to leave the office looking and feeling better than when they arrived.

I have practiced dentistry since 2001. My grandpa was a carpenter and my dad worked in the fashion design industry; from them I inherited an aptitude for craftsmanship and have always been a handyman. In high school, and later college, I was drawn to science and biology. That interest, combined with the excellent hand skills and a drive for human connection, made dentistry the ideal career path.

Dental school, and then the rigorous post-doctorate residency, gave me a solid foundational understanding of dentistry. However, like all areas of healthcare, the field is constantly advancing: ongoing research means there are always newer technologies, materials, and techniques. These options can deliver easier, faster, and better treatment, with improved results.

Active pursuit of continuing education (CE) keeps me at the forefront of the latest methodologies and practices. In addition to many annual hours of CE in general dentistry, I take 25 hours of specialized courses in dental implants through the International Congress of Oral Implantologists each year. I also take classes through the Shatkin Mini Dental Implant Center and am a member of the Spear Study Club.

I believe it is important for each of us, to the best of our abilities, to help others in need. I enjoy volunteering at the Northern Virginia Dental Society Clinic, providing life-changing dental services to the underprivileged in our community. In doing so, I am able to improve the health, wellbeing, and quality of life of individuals. This makes our community stronger and happier for all.

I grew up in Seoul, South Korea, and have resided in Centreville, Virginia, since 2004. My parents live in Annandale. I have an older brother and two older sisters, too. One sister, Grace, lives in Seoul; my other two siblings, Sean and Esther, live in Fairfax.

If Im not seeing patients, or reading the latest oral healthcare journal, I can often be found on the tennis courts or watching a match. I have played and followed tennis for over 30 years. I am also an avid walker: walking gives me a freedom and meditation-like feelings which I enjoy. And I am a reader, as well. Reading allows me to look into other peoples thoughts and lives, which I find challenges and inspires me.

We recognize that all of our patients are unique and deserve to receive dental care that reflects their individual needs. Our experienced and talented dental team is committed to working with you and your family to create a comfortable, stress-free, and rewarding dental experience every time you visit our practice.
