Salvatore Esposito, D.M.D., F.I.C.D. is a prosthodontist and, more specifically, a maxillofacial prosthodontist. Prosthodontics is a dental specialty that usually takes four additional years of training following dental school. It is a specialty that involves the replacement of missing teeth and other structures of the mouth and/or face that are missing or defective.
Dr. Esposito is past Chairman of the Department of Dentistry, Oral Surgery, and Maxillofacial Prosthetics at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, a position he held for 23 years. Prior to that, he was head of the Section of Maxillofacial Prosthetics at the Metrohealth Medical Center. Dr. Esposito is currently President of the Maxillofacial Foundation and is Executive Director of the American Prosthodontic Society. He also serves on the Executive Council of the International Society of Maxillofacial Rehabilitation, the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, and the American Prosthodontic Society.
He holds memberships in the International College of Dentists, Academy of Prosthodontics, American Prosthodontic Society, American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, International Society of Maxillofacial Rehabilitation, American Dental Association, and the Cleveland Dental Society. In addition, he is past President of the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, American Prosthodontic Society, and the International Society of Maxillofacial Rehabilitation, and has served on the board of directors of the American Cancer Society and the Greater Cleveland Dental Society.
Dr. Esposito is an adjunct Associate Professor at the Case Western Reserve School of Medicine and Dental Medicine and holds visiting professorships at the UCLA and SUNY at Buffalo Colleges of Dentistry and the University of Turin in Torino, Italy. He has lectured worldwide on the subjects of complete and implant retained dentures as well as the prosthetic rehabilitation of head and neck deformities. Among his many awards are the prestigious Andrew J. Ackerman Award for outstanding service to the specialty of maxillofacial prosthetics, the Thai (Thailand) Prosthodontic Award, and the Founders Medal from the International Society of Maxillofacial Rehabilitation.
He has been recognized as one of the top 100 dentists in the U.S. He has published a textbook titled Maxillofacial Rehabilitation and has more than 50 published articles and book chapters in medical and dental literature. His practice is limited to complete and partial dentures, implant supported prostheses, and the prosthetic management of patients with head and neck deformities.
Dr. Christopher Whitmyer is a former member of the professional staff in the Department of Dentistry at the Cleveland Clinic. During his 12-year tenure at the clinic, he was awarded an American Cancer Society clinical oncology fellowship, affording him the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and clinical experience of the very unique dental needs that are associated with current cancer treatment. He also served as the Director of the General Practice Residency for more than seven years. In addition, he completed the Cleveland Clinic Foundations Executive program in Practice Management while serving as the team dentist for the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Barons, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the WNBAs Cleveland Rockers.
Dr. Whitmyer is a graduate of Brecksville High School, Ohio Wesleyan University and the Ohio State University School of Dentistry. He has published multiple scientific and clinical papers, and was honored with the Judson Hickey Award for the outstanding clinical paper published in The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry. He has contributed to the scientific presentations at multiple national dental meetings and he has also been recognized for an original and excellent contribution to the understanding of the oral health of the elderly by the Board of Directors of the American Society for Geriatric Dentistry.
His clinical interests include the rehabilitation and preservation of the dentition utilizing the most up to date procedures in dental surgery, implants, crowns, and cosmetic dentistry for both adults and children. He is a member of the International Team for Implantology (ITI) and the American Prosthodontic Society. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, the Ohio Dental Association, and the Greater Cleveland Dental Society. He has served the Ohio Dental Association as an alternate delegate during the annual state meeting. He is honored to be included in the list of Top Dentists in the United States, and identified by his peers to be a top dentist in the Greater Cleveland Area.

I graduated from Garfield Heights High School and Cuyahoga Valley Career Center in 2018. I started working with Drs. Whitmyer and Esposito my senior year of high school and stayed ever since! Now, I am completing my education and currently go to Cleveland State University working towards my dental degree. I feel fortunate to say that I love going to work every day and doing the thing that I am most passionate about. I also have an amazing team! I look up to Drs. Whitmyer and Esposito as my mentors as I go through this journey of becoming a dentist myself.
Doireann graduated from Lakeland Community College with her degree in dental hygiene. She finds it a privilege to take care of her patients, and she loves building relationships with each one of them as she helps them maintain their oral health. During her education, she was named the Outstanding Dental Hygiene Student of her graduating class. Doireann is a member of the Sigma Phi Alpha Dental Hygiene Honor Society and has served as a delegate and as vice president for the Northeastern Ohio Dental Hygienists Association.
I was born and raised in the Greater Cleveland area and have assisted Dr. Esposito for more than 30 years. I particularly enjoy working with all of the patients Dr. Esposito treats and the unique challenges that they present. I find it very rewarding to see patients reach a point where they are comfortable with their smile and feel good about themselves again.
I have been married to my husband Jim for 31 years. We have two grown children, Robert who lives in Dayton, Ohio and Christina who is going to Kent State. We have nine-year-old Labradoodle to keep us company now that the kids are away. I enjoy golfing, bike riding, and walks in summer, and snowmobiling in Michigan in the winter.
I am a Cleveland native and have been a dental assistant for more than 17 years, 14 of which have been in our office. Assisting Dr. Whitmyer is a pleasure because of the amount of patience he has and his understanding of each patients needs. I love coming to work every day, looking forward to the people Im going to meet and the friendships that will begin. I also look forward to catching up on the latest news from our established patients lives.
I have been in the dental field many years and it never gets old. I enjoy working with talented doctors who truly care about the patients under their care. Jose is a native Buckeye from Findlay, Ohio. He began his career as a lab technician in 1976, the same year he graduated from Midview High School. He has studied at the Las Vegas Institute and completed his Master Ceramist Course in 2000. Jose has been with us in our lab since 2015.
