From the time he was five years old, Dr. Rodney Horvat knew he wanted to be a dentist -and that he wanted to live in Florida. As a child, he began preparing for his goal by being mentored by his family dentist and neighbor Dr. James Dwan.
Dr. Horvat graduated from the University of Michigan in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology. In 1985, he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Detroit in Michigan, and in 1988 he earned a Certificate in Periodontics from the University of Kentucky. After teaching at the University of Kentucky, he fulfilled his lifelong dream and moved to Florida where he joined Dr. Richard Chace, Jr. in practice. He is a member of the Dental Society of Greater Orlando, the Florida Dental Society, the Southern Academy of Periodontology, and the American Academy of Periodontology.
Dr. Horvat is known for his genuine warmth, and gentle, caring demeanor. As an active member of the community, he often volunteers his time doing 'lunch and learn' presentations to local dental hygienists, and giving presentations of the newest techniques in periodontal medicine in local seminars. He also serves on the Valencia Dental Hygiene Board.
Dr. Horvat is a sports fan who follows a variety of college and professional sports, and enjoys participating in recreational water activities - particularly scuba diving, snorkeling, and jet skiing. A devoted family man, he and his lovely wife Valerie are the proud parents of their 2 children, Rachel and Steven.
Dr. Cohen, originally from the Maitland/Winter Park area, had an early desire to pursue dentistry after completion of braces treatment as a teenager. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University followed by his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Kentucky in 2003. After completing the Periodontal Residency Program at the University of Washington in 2006, he returned to Winter Park and joined the practice of Drs. Chace and Horvat.
Dr. Cohen is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, which is the highest level of professional achievement in periodontics. He currently serves as the President for the Dental Society of Greater Orlando for 2015-2016 and is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Osseointegration, Central Florida Dental District Association and Florida Dental Association. He has lectured to local dental societies and is engaged in numerous hours of continuing education courses each year.

I had a great experience with Dr. Scott Cohen with my gum surgery and recent implants. He is a highly professional and warm person and goes out of his way to make you feel you are cared for. He always made sure that my regular dentist and me are updated on my treatments and actually reports everything in writing which is very hard to come by these days. His calm demeanor and good bedside manners helped me a lot to relax during my procedures. Dr Cohen is awesome and I highly recommend him.

I have had a wonderful experience with Dr. Cohen and his staff of professionals. From the first consultation to the post surgery check up, I felt confident that I was dealing with the best! If you are looking for a surgeon with a team you can trust, I would look no further than here. Very happy to have come to them, could not ask for a better experience and results. P.s - They also have incredible amethyst specimens in the waiting room which are incredible to look at.

Not what I expected! They are too busy to take any right decisions. I made an appointment with them to try something better and find something new. The doctor told me I have to do a deep cleaning which I did it few months ago and didn't help me. I did it few months ago why I have to do it again without any improvements result???? Even though on their websites shows a lot of treatments that I have not heard anything about it at the consultation. They working quickly because they are busy. Waste of time and money.

Always greeted with a great, 'genuine' smile. Staff is always on time, and if you are early and they are finished with previous patient, they bring you right in, no needless waiting around. Extremely clean facilities, which is very important. Stocked full of bottled water and flavered coffee. Always neatly placed and clean! They have a unique blend of being highly professional, along with kindness and consideration, try finding that these days! What a great team of people working there. They help to make my dental experience pleasurable. I'm so glad I got the referral to come here...now I'm hooked. I came here after l suffered a car accident and fractured most of my front teeth, Needing extractions. When leaving your visit the front desk treats you as gracious as when you entered. The entire staff makes you feel comfortable, relaxed and cared for. Jennifer the tech Even gave me a hug and calmed me down when l was crying in pain when l came in. They genuinely care. Also offered to hold my mouth piece while l take an xray because l couldn't bite down because of the pain. I appreciated that so much. I Can't ask for much more! They all work together so well. Dr. Scott Cohen, no matter how busy he is, will come to check if you have any questions or concerns. If you should call with a question or need, it's an immediate response. I was very pleased to get a call from him the next day. To make sure l was okay. That is unusual in today's service environment, and certainly goes along way. He's always very caring and professional, And has amazing bedside manners. He makes sure I'm completely comfortable and at ease before starting any procedure. Also thoroughly explains everything before he starts and answers any questions you may have. Dr. Cohen and staff goes that extra step to insure my total satisfaction. More medical and dental offices should be patterned after your office's policies and procedures. They treated me more like family than just another number. I actually look forward to my appointments. Now that's a first!

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Cohen as the one who performed my graft procedure. When I had any questions, Dr. Cohen, the office staff, and assistants were more than happy to help and answer them. They made sure that I had everything needed for an effective post-surgery recovery. I also appreciated Dr. Cohen calling the day after I had my procedure to make sure that if I was experiencing any extreme pain, excessive bleeding, etc. that I could receive the support necessary. Overall, I am so pleased with the improvements I see in my gum health and know that it will have a positive, long-term impact!

This was my first referral to Dr Horvat/Cohen. The office is clean, the staff is very pleasant, considerate and easy to work with. Dr. Horvat was wonderful. He was detailed, provided excellent care and my recent surgery went very well. I am having no pain, the visit was easy and I would recommend this practice to anyone looking for excellent periodontic care.

I have been to this office several times. Staff is always very friendly and professional. Dr. Cohen is a delight to work with as he is super professional and friendly. His staff makes you feel great and comfortable going to the dentist. They are super informative and try to put you on right track to good dental hygiene. They inform you, but don't talk down to you, or make you feel bad about your ignorance of proper hygiene. I actually look forward to going to this office, unlike my own dentist. They encompass quality over everything else. If you are looking for a periodontist I would strongly recommend them over all the others. Well above 5 stars in my opinion. Dr. Cohen is just awesome.

Dr. Cohen has been my specialist for over a year now, and I can't praise him or his staff enough. The professionalism is only exceeded by the care and concern I've been shown through all my procedures. Everyone I've met from the office staff, to the hygienists, to Dr. Cohen has been exceptional on every visit and follow-up. The billing is out of network, and not cheap, but in this case you get what you pay for, and what you get here is one of the most experienced pioneers in the industry and a top Dr. in the state of Florida. Well worth it, and highly recommended.

Dr. Cohen and staff are top notch! My husband had his wisdom teeth removed, and I'be had multiple procedures. They do their best to make sure you're comfortable and happy. Even my husband, who does not do well in the dental chair, was very happy with his procedure! I would recommend their office to ANYONE looking for a pleasant experience :)

Dr. Cohen is a prince among mortals! He is kind, talented and an outstanding Peridontist. He has a great reputation and he's done many surgeries, experienced but young. He helped me make a difficult decision considering first my well-being. He's a fine person as well as a talented professional. That matters to me. His staff is one of the best I've encountered. Very thoughtful, Always polite. I'm glad I found this office.
