Dr. Ryan is honored to have joined such an incredible, well established practice and is truly excited to come to work each day with our great dental team and patient base. He was told early on that our patients would quickly feel like family and that is absolutely true. He works very hard to take the best possible care of each patient with a thoughtful, individualized approach.
He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at UMKC, and Doctor of Dental Surgery at UMKC Dental School. He is proud to be part of the American Dental Association, Kansas City Dental Association, and Kansas City Dental Society. Dr. Ryan works very hard to stay up to date with the best technology and approach to dentistry.
Dr. Ryan grew up in St. Louis, MO and is the oldest of five siblings. Dr. Ryan is very close to his family and loves going back home to see his large family. He is a big Cardinals, Blues, and Chiefs fan. When Dr. Ryan isnt seeing patients, he enjoys playing volleyball, ice hockey, video games, working out, and anything outdoors. Some of his favorite movies and TV shows are Christmas Vacation and The Office.
Cara has been in the dental field for over eighteen years. She has been with the practice for fourteen years, off and on, taking some time away to have her two beautiful children. Cara has a real passion for helping people. Her hope is that each person that walks through our door feels loved and well cared for. When Cara isnt in the office, she loves spending time with her family, running, hiking, kayaking, enjoying the outdoors, and the occasional splurge at Starbucks. Her faith and family are definitely number one.
Erika has been with the practice for nearly five years and she has worked in the dental industry for a total of twenty-four years, working as a dental assistant first and eventually moving toward the business aspect of dentistry. Erika says, I look forward to coming to work every day working with these awesome team members. She loves Italian food, camping, boating, and taking her Golden Doodle Daisy to the dog park.
Ginny has been a valued member of the practice for the last six years and has been Dental Assisting for eleven years. Ginny loves meeting people and helping people and it shows in the excellent care her patients receive. On her off time, she likes spending time with her children and grandbaby, home remodeling, hiking, boating, reading, crafting and eating at Olive Garden.
Missy has been in the dental field for 40 years. She was a chairside assistant for eighteen years before receiving her Dental Hygiene degree. Missy appreciates working with a team that shares her same philosophy of giving quality care and loving dentistry. She and her husband enjoy fishing, kayaking, farming, finding new wineries, and visiting Historic Liberty.
Steve has worked as a Dental Hygienist for the practice for nearly twenty-two years! Being in one office for so long has allowed Steve to build great relationships with so many amazing and wonderful patients. He loves hearing updates about everyones lives, families, and hobbies. Steve likes reading, working out, hiking, fishing, travel, playing with his dogs, and trying new restaurants.

Went to this office in early 2021 for the first time since the pandemic. Everyone was nice but the whole time I felt like I was being sold something, not just getting a dental cleaning. They told me I had 4 cavities and I have only had 2 cavities my whole life so to have 4 at once was alarming. Also they were going to make me get all 4 done on separate appointments which doesn't work for my schedule. I told them I didn't want to schedule that many appointments thinking I would get a second opinion. Well I didn't get my second opinion until over a year and half later and now I have no cavities. I asked my new dentist if a cavity can just go away and they confirmed it cannot so that leads me to believe I was lied to. I get that the pandemic was probably pretty hard on dentists income but you can't make that up by drilling on peoples teeth for no reason.

I would not recommend due to the relationship that Dr. Holbrook has with his assistant, Cara. I was treated horrible.

Everyone working in this office is great! I absolutely believe that their goal is to make your experience as great as possible. Dr. Holbrook takes time to explain everything and answer any questions while also working efficiently. I would highly recommend Dr. Holbrook's office to anyone looking for a dentist.

Amazing and friendly staff. My hygienist remembered our conversation 6 months ago! They truly care and make the experience as pleasant as possible. Dr. Carter-O'Shea has the unique qualities of friendliness, professionalism, and humor that is difficult to find in an experienced dentist. Her and her team will take outstanding care of your family's teeth and gums. 3 Aug 22 Update: Continue to be happy with new dentist Dr. Holbrook who took over for Dr. O Shea after her retirement. The transition was smooth and you can tell she did her homework in hand picking her replacement. He upholds the same values I mentioned in previous post.

Edit: My initial review was 6 years ago. The practice has now changed to a new owner, Dr. Holbrook, and he is wonderful! Very thorough, kind, and efficient. They make having dental work done as comfortable and relaxing as possible. I honestly don't dread it at all! I LOVE Dr Carter and all of her staff! So caring and professional! Dr. Carter is honest and straightforward and so helpful! For every dental procedure I've had to have done at their office she always makes sure I'm 100% comfortable and relaxed! I will NEVER go anywhere else!

Even though we are in stressful times , my dental visit was actually a welcoming ritual. I've got to say, I felt absolutely safe and comfortable returning to the process. The staff and doctor went above and beyond the PPE protocol. In fact, I'm returning to finish up a small filling repair and with no worries.

Dr Carter's office is the only dentist we will go to! They have top notch, high-end technology at diagnosing cavities, doing xrays, etc. They are so very friendly, the entire staff is just amazing! Steve is our go-to hygienist for all our families cleanings. He's the best!! I'm so glad a friend of ours recommended them to us!! They do not rush you in and out for cleanings either. I feel they do a very thorough job compared to other places. I highly recommended Dr Susan Carter-O'Shea as your family dentist!!!
