In order to fight bad breath, you first must make sure you are properly brushing and flossing your teeth. Next, stop by and get your regular check up and cleaning to make sure you dont have tartar stuck to your teeth. Tartar is made up of living, breathing, growing bacteria that combine with minerals in your spit and stick to your teeth. Remember that expired bottle of milk in your fridge? Sort of like that, but stuck to your teeth. Also, I recommend getting a tongue scraper to clean the film of bacteria that grow on your tongue. After your first use, youll never want to NOT use one again!

Every person is different and every persons digestive system is different. Look at your diet, experiment changing some things around, and figure out what doesnt agree with you. Just as your mouth is the portal into your stomach, it is also a portal from your stomach. If you have good hygiene and your gums are healthy but you still have bad breath, it might be coming from your GI!

There are a few reasons people get dry mouth. Many medications, especially high blood pressure and depression medications, cause you to produce less saliva. A history of chemotherapy or radiation therapy for cancer can also decrease your saliva. Using marijuana and other recreational drugs can decrease your saliva, which can also lead to higher cavities (ever hear of meth mouth?). Having chronic sinus infections and breathing through your mouth also will dry it up and where you have dry mouth, you lose part of your natural protection against bacteria. A wet mouth will scoop up a bunch of bacteria when you swallow and kill them in your stomach, so the drier the mouth, the more bacteria you fester in there.

Besides the 180+ known carcinogens in each cigarette, there are a bunch of chemicals that get deposited in your mouth and throat, all the way to your lungs, which can cause bad breath. Your lungs also give off the smoke you inhaled for a period of time after youve smoked, much like how your stomach gives off bad smells after you eat something that doesnt go well with you. Bottom line, dont smoke

Infections anywhere in the body smell pretty bad, especially if there is a lot of puss being produced. Having chronic bad breath may be a sign of an infection somewhere in your mouth, so you will definitely want to have it checked out
