After receiving his dental degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio Dental School, Dr. Roy Gonzalez, Jr. completed his orthodontic training at Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, New York, where he was awarded a Fellowship for his research on children with facial birth defects, as well as his Master of Science degree. He has been a practicing orthodontist for more than 25 years.
Board certified,Dr. Gonzalez is a member of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics (less than 10% of all orthodontists are Board Certified). He is also a board member of the Cleft Palate/Craniofacial Team at Methodist Hospital and Children's Hospital of San Antonio (Santa Rosa). He is the only orthodontist in San Antonio that has been granted privileges in both hospitals.
Dr. Roy Gonzalez, Jr. is frequently recognized as a Super Dentist in Texas Monthly magazine and locally in San Antonio Scene magazine as a Top Dentist in the orthodontic community. He has also been recognized as one of Americas Top Dentists by the Consumer Research Council of America.
His professional affiliations include the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, Fellow of the American College of Dentists and Fellow of the International College of Dentists. Dr. Gonzalez has served as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Texas Dental School and instructed other doctors and students in orthodontic techniques. He has also served as an adjunct professor at the Harry Jersig School of the Deaf at Our Lady of the Lake University in the department of Speech and Language Pathology. Dr. Gonzalez is active in the community and supports several charitable institutions. These include The Southwest School of Art, Texas Biomedical Research Institute, San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, The Texas Cavaliers, Boy Scouts of America, The American Cleft Palate Association, and the San Antonio Botanical Center. He also supports many fundraisers for local elementary, middle and high schools.
Dr. Roy Gonzalez, Jr. and his father, Dr. Roy R. Gonzalez, practiced together for 25 years until his father's retirement in 2016. Together they have treated 2 generations of patients in San Antonio and South Texas.

We offer a discount for payment in full of your contracted portion at the beginning of treatment, minus your insurance benefits. This discount is not available with discount-only insurance plans.
During chairside procedures, the doctor will be assisted by one of our highly trained dental assistants. While we do utilize the expertise of our assistants, you will be personally examined and cared for at each visit by the doctor.
Our staff is bilingual and has an average of 15 years of clinical experience in orthodontics. They are highly skilled in treating children and adults and in treating patients with facial birth defects. The clinical staff members are all Registered Dental Assistants by The State Board of Dental Examiners and participate in annual continuing education to maintain their certifications and high standards.
Our staff is compliant with all state and federal health regulations. Our clinical staff is certified in radiology, infection control, and CPR. They are inoculated for hepatitis and have annual flu vaccines. They also have annual OSHA training, which includes techniques for both heat and cold chemical instrument sterilization.
