Dr. Kolodziej was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and earned his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Pittsburgh. He remained in Pittsburgh to attend the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine where he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1996. After receiving his D.M.D., he elected to pursue advanced education in general dentistry and served as a general practice resident at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Pittsburgh. After completing his G.P.R. he was accepted as a graduate resident in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. His orthodontic research was in the field of craniofacial growth and the manuscript from that work was published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Prior to practicing at his current locations, Dr. Kolodziej maintained orthodontic offices in Johnstown and Altoona, Pennsylvania. He moved to Lakewood, Ohio in 2001 to provide braces, Invisalign and other orthodontic treatmentsto the residents of his new hometown as well asRocky River, Westlake, Cleveland, Brooklyn, Parma, Seven Hills and other nearby communities.
Currently, Dr. Kolodziej is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (Board Certified), a distinction only achieved by approximately 1 in 3 orthodontists. Additionally, he is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists and the Ohio Dental Association. He has lectured at numerous venues and has presented several continuing education courses for other doctors through the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. For many years he has served as a volunteer provider for Ohio Dental Options and Smiles Change Lives which are programs designed to facilitate necessary dental care for underprivileged individuals.
In addition to conventional orthodontic treatment, Dr. Kolodziej offers treatment using the Invisalign appliance system, and is certified as an Invisalign orthodontist. As alternatives to stainless steel braces, he offers gold and ceramic appliances as well. Other orthodontic services such as treatments combined with orthognathic surgery (jaw surgery), laser procedures and Botox injection are offered when indicated. Early treatment (Phase 1) is routinely provided in those cases where early interception is needed to prevent complications, but whenever possible he prefers to defer treatment until most of the permanent teeth are erupted.
The doctor is often asked how to pronounce his name. For those who might be curious, it is pronounced Ko-L-Gee, which is a Polish name meaning maker of wheels. Outside of the office Dr. Kolodziej also works as a consultant to a major insurance company and has authored a comprehensive insurance policy that was implemented to comply with the Affordable Care Act. He and his wife live in Lakewood and enjoy boating on Lake Erie and visits to the Lake Erie Islands. Some little known facts about the doctor: he has been the captain of a rec-league volleyball team since 2009, he loves to sing and play piano and sang live on a pregame show for Superbowl XXX in Pittsburgh, he ran his first marathon in 2014 and is always juggling several DIY projects at home and in the office.

Dr. Kolodziej was kind enough to see me while in town from Phoenix. My wire slipped and he was nice enough to see me on a day off to clip it. I recommend anyone back home in Ohio greater Cleveland area to see him for your orthodontic needs. Dr. Tiffany Harris

Overdelivered. My teeth were good but now they look fantastic! He even fixed my bite alignment (I didnt even realize as an older patient.) SOOO happy with my results!!!

UPDATE 9/15/2022 I received braces and care from Dr. Kolodziej and his staff. I had an injury that affected my jaw and Dr. Kolodziej recommended braces for me. The process was not as bad as I thought it would be and they came off faster than expected. Your mileage may vary. I am happy to say that my injury has gotten to the point where I am no longer in pain and this is directly as a result from the braces. The offices, Lakewood and Brooklyn, are clean and up to date. I have nothing negative to report and have recommended Dr. Kolodziej to friends and family. Dr. Kolodziej and his staff were beyond professional. He was patient, and understanding regarding my sons complex problem with his teeth. He listened intently to the issues my son was having and quickly came up with a plan to solve the problem. My son was nervous at first, but soon at ease due to Dr Kolodziej's tact, kindness, and manner. Very clean and updated facility. See you next time! Thanks!

My wife and I were in our 30's when we decided we finally wanted to get straight teeth. We picked Dr. Kolodziej's office because it had great reviews and an exceedingly professional webpage. We could have not been more happier with our decision! From our very first consultation Dr. Kolodziej and the staff made us feel very welcomed. My wife and I were traveling for work at the time and the office made every accommodation to fit us in their appointment windows when we were home. We LOVED going to our appointments together because it felt like we were going to see friends instead of a doctors office. We got to know the staff very well. We are more than happy with our results but even sadder that we have finished our treatment. Dr. Kolodziej, Angie, Mallory and the rest off the staff thank you so much for a wonderful experience! I am writing this review to share great praise for Dr. Kolodziej and his staff, and to express that I am absolutely thrilled with the results achieved with my braces! Throughout the entire treatment plan, I felt that Dr. Kolodziej and his staff were supportive, informative and reassuring. As a mature adult, I spent several years thinking over what - for me- was a big decision. My consult with Dr. Kolodziej was realistic and inspiring; it all felt right. I greatly appreciate that during each appointment, Dr. Kolodziej took time to address any concerns and provided encouraging updates. I was amazed by the technology behind the braces I wore and pleased by the look of my new smile! There is an old saying that "when you smile at the world, the world smiles back" - and yes, I find myself smiling a lot.... I highly recommend Dr. Kolodziej and his staff; they will be there for you each step of the way.

Dr Kolodziej is awesome. My wire came loose on my braces and he took the time to see me after hours. He came in on his free time just so I wouldn't be in pain. The staff is always nice whenever I go in for my appointment. 10 thumbs up for this guy, and I dont write reviews but I felt the need to write this.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Kolodziej and his staff!! If you are looking for an absolutely outstanding, intelligent, thorough, kind and understanding orthodontist, look no further. A year ago, I knew it was time for me to bite the bullet and get jaw surgery (I had been putting it off for years). Planned jaw surgery requires orthodontic treatment pre and post op. Without hesitation, I selected Dr. Kolodziej as my orthodontist. Dr. Kolodziej got me through what is normally a lengthy process (pre and post surgery) in JUST ONE YEAR! Absolutely phenomenal. My Maxillofacial Surgeon at MetroHealth was also so impressed by his work that he put Dr. Kolodziej's name at the top of his list of references that he hands out to his patients who are looking to get orthodontic treatment (both non-surgical and surgical). Dr. Kolodziej and his team gave me something I thought I would never get back - My confidence. They are truly a blessing!!!!

I would highly recommend Dr. Kolodziej. He is an amazing orthodontist. My experience was really good. He's easy to work with and the staff is phenomenal. I love them!!! They are always so friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Kolodziej set the expectations in the beginning but my outcome was so much better than I ever could have imagined. I've always wanted braces and I'm so extremely happy that I chose this orthodontist. I know so many friends who hadn't had good experiences with their orthodontist and I've had the complete opposite experience!

Dr. Kolodziej has treated all three of my kids over the past 10 years for both braces and reconstruction needed after my daughter's bike accident. He is an amazing Orthodontist and his staff is excellent to work with, always friendly and accommodating. Both offices offer a clean, modern environment and their availability and locations make it very convenient to schedule appointments where & when we need them. I really appreciate all he has done for us over the years and highly recommend him!

When my son needed braces Dr. Kolodziej was recommended by my son's dentist's office. I can see why they recommended him. Dr. Kolodziej takes time to explain everything that he will be doing. He answered any questions I had. He was great at communicating with me about how things were going and what was going on with my son's teeth. My son is now at the retainer stage and Dr. Kolodziej explained everything about them too. He's been amazing and he's so kind and great with kids. I highly recommend for anybody of any age to see him.
