All my life I have had anxiety about dentists. I now need some dental surgery. Yuck. Was referred to JT (That's what he likes to be called). He met with me and calmed me with his demeanor and took his time to explain everything and answer any questions I had (he was not rushed at all). I feel much better about the upcoming procedure. He made it clear I would feel no pain. The office was super nice and helpful with insurance. So far I am impressed and would recommend JT if you need some surgery.

I promised a friend I'd wait in this office while she undergoes a procedure - I thought - "no problem! I can get some work done" but the staff is blasting music that isn't conducive to relaxing or working. No. I don't want to pour some sugar on me. No. I do not want to party all night long. It's 10 in the morning & I haven't finished my coffee. I just wanted to help a friend & leave without a throbbing headache. Mission only half accomplished. Edited to add that it's hours later &it wasn't only the terribly inappropriate music that lead me to a dark room for the afternoon... WHAT scent was in that steam mister in the waiting room???? It made me ill.

DR PERFECTIONIST is what he is. Went for a root canal and was impressed with the procedure. Very nice staff and very pleased with the results. Definitely recommend Dr Thousand.

I was told by my dentist in Palm Coast this man had a bad reputation but I thought it was just a bad bedside manner. I was told he was abrupt and did not connect well with patients. I had lots of pain and needed any appoimtment I could get with any doctor. Dr. Thousand III had the first opening. I went for a standard root canal. Dr. Thousand wanted to "put me under" or have me on heavy drugs during the procedure. I declined. Dr. Thousand said my x-ray showed a rare immune illness where my tooth eats itself from the inside out, so he needed to do two procedures on one tooth, he said. The x-rays looked normal to me but he used fast talking and acted like he was in a hurry for me to make a decision. I would have objected if I had explained he was going to cut my gums and drill under the bottom of my tooth, which is an easy way to get to the middle of the tooth. He did not explain he would open the flaps of my gum and use stitches. My gum never really healed. I called his office and they would not let me speak to the doctor later about terrible pain. I stopped eating for a few weeks it hurt so badly. He put me on a liquid diet. I went for a follow up two weeks later. He declared his work looked good and he did "not care" where I got more follow up treatment. He acted like the pain was not there. It was a failed root canal and he did damage to my gumline. He overfilled the top of the tooth making it bigger than my other small teeth so my bite was not right. He did not use the bite paper to see if my teeth came together properly. I got opinions from two caring dentists and they said he severely destabilized the tooth, and caused me chronic pain by unneccessarily cutting my gums open. 2nd and 3rd opinion dentists said Dr. Thousand was wrong about the rare tooth eating disorder which is extrenely rare and only shows up in children, not suddenly in my late forties. Dr. Thousand seems irritated if you ask questions bebause he is just a drill mill. I paid $1600 at least, for a failed root canal because I still have the same pain in the tooth Dr. Thousand worked on. Dentists in the Palm Coast area do not recommend him I was told because their patient feedback of Dr. Thousand was poor. He does not act like a doctor, but is cocky and is always right. You can't ask why he has such opinions. I deserve a refund. I should have listened to my dentist that a lot if his patients did not like Dr. Thousand but I thought is was a personality problem, not incompetence. Thousand is not a << people person >> He could care less about follow up if you continue to have pain. Don't go near this man. My dentist in New York called him a quack for telling me my tooth was eating itself from the inside out and he had to drill deep inside under my gums to get the problem out. It's been years. My gums are still sensitive and so is the tooth. I cannot chew on one side since the procedure. Gums have a lot of nerves. The pain is worse than before I saw Dr. Thousand in St. John's County at his drill mill since he cut my gums open without telling me. He cut so much that I needed stitches. Stitches for a root canal? I would have left his office if he had told me he would cut flaps of my gums open and give me stitchesz Stay away. He has fancy tools, but he's a bad man. I won't comment on the staff because this review is on the endodontist in St. John's County, Dr. Robert Thousand III. In New York, endodontists return your money for a failed root canal. A failed root canal means the doctor failed to relieve the pain. I ended up with more pain and often have to go on liquid diets. My dentist in New York explained why it's not possible for me to have a rare childhood auto immune disorder where my teeth ear themselves from the inside out. I agree with my dentist Dr. Thousand is a quack. My other dentist hesitates to recommend him, especially to sensitive patients with a lot of pain. My dentist in Palm Coast says Dr. Thousand has bad reputation to not be recommended by local dentists. I am receiving palliative care for the tooth.

I went to Dr. Thousand 3 times for a root canal procedure and tooth pain and sensitivity. He did an excellent job on my root canal, however his behavior towards me was very arrogant and demeaning. I am giving one star because of the great dental work he did, and 1 star because of the wonderful women at the front desk and the dental assistants who treated me very kindly. I will be getting another root canal soon and I will not be returning to Dr. Thousand, I believe I can find an Endodontist who is exceptionally skilled in their craft , who also listens to their patients and shows that they care . People come into his office scared and in pain, and deserve to be treated with respect, with dignity and with compassion. I was appalled at how I was treated by him and my hope is that this honest true account of my experience, will help others in their decision making process of which Endodontist in St. Augustine to go to.

I'm not even sure where to begin. Dr. Thousands bedside manners were every bit of professional and calming. His staff went above and beyond to keep me comfortable in a very uncomfortable procedure. Both offices are state of the art, clean and very calming. I reference calming a lot. The truth is we all get very nervous when it comes to our teeth. For the first time in my adult life I was calm. My implants are beautiful. I can't thank him or his staff enough!

Dr Thousand is the 2nd best dentist I've seen. The best is Dr Lynn La Haise in St Augustine who referred me to Dr Thousand. I had an all day procedure where I woke up 60 minutes early. Getting Novocain shots several times in the roof of your mouth is extremely painful? I think the last 2 they did were for their enjoyment. In fact I had a terrible cramp in my hamstring from being in one position all day. Dr Thousand lifted my leg straight up in the air to stretch out the cramp and save the day. Elizabeth his assistant unfortunately had to physically hold me down to help finish the procedure, she deserves a lot of credit. Thank you Elizabeth. This has been a 4 month process and Dr Thousand responded to every text message and genuinely cares about his patients. He has a great staff who are well trained. This must be why he has 4 locations. He's the best Dental Surgeon around, I only wish they had a candy jar at checkout, other than that you won't find a more competent surgeon and professional staff.

Dr Robert Thousand III is an exceptionally skilled endodontist. I have experienced his skill set twice now and honestly, I would not go to anyone else if I needed a root canal. His knowledge, skill and professionalism is top notch and the staff and office environment is totally professional. His calm demeanor also helps for a typically stressful procedure. The experience with him and his staff is "the best"!

Had a root canal done by Dr. Thousand 3 years ago. He lectured me the entire time about how if I had my teeth cleaned more often maybe I wouldn't need a root canal. Then 3 weeks ago the root canal went bad and started causing me severe pain. My dentist sent them a referral for retreatment and it took them until 2 days ago to call me back. Ridiculous. In the meantime I've had the tooth extracted and will be getting an implant, NOT by Dr. Thousand. I don't need that kind of care.

I have had many root canals- this was the first that was relatively pain free during the procedure itself and the recovery!
