Dr. LoCastro is one of the few periodontal offices in Pittsburgh that has had BACTRONIX come in to test & treat his periodontal office in accordance to the Bionomics Nanotechnology Guidelines to provide a long term, environmentally friendly, microbiostatic coating that inhibits the growth of bacteria, viruses, mold, algae, yeast and fungi.

Dr. LoCastro earned his dental degree from the prestigious University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, and then he completed a 2-year post-graduate periodontal surgical residency at the same institution. In addition to his decades of experience, he has also literally taken thousands of hours of continuing education, including studying with world-renowned implant dentist, the late Dr. Carl Misch during his residency. When you come to see Dr. LoCastro, you can enjoy the peace of mind that youre working with the absolute best in the field.

Dental technology has changed quite a bit since Dr. LoCastro first started practicing, but he has worked diligently to keep himself and our facility up to date. With CT scanning and cone beam imaging, hes able to make more accurate diagnoses, better plan procedures, and provide predictable results that reliably restore his patients health and appearance. Plus, he will use our imaging technology to clearly explain your treatment options so you know exactly what to expect each step of the way.
Dr. LoCastros dream from the moment he decided to become a dentist was to practice in his hometown. He was fortunately able to make his dream a reality, and today, his specialty dental office is located just a few minutes from the house where he grew up! It is very important to Dr. LoCastro to give back to the community that has given him so much. Thats why, over the years, he has been very involved in coaching youth sports, personally showing the next generation the rewards that come from working as a team toward a common goal.
For Dr. LoCastro, nothing feels better than building a relationship with a patient and then using his expertise to improve their health, appearance, and confidence at the same time. He considers his patients to be members of his extended family, My patients know me, my family, and my interests like I know theirs. Thats why most simply call him Bob. I have known since I was 8 years old that I wanted to become a dentist. As a child, I was never afraid of the dentist when I went. When I graduated from St. Thomas More Grade School, on my exit biography, it asked what do you want to be when you grow up. I put, 'A Dentist.' When I graduated from Bethel Park High School, in the yearbook section for future plans, I put 'Attend dental school and become a dentist.' It wasn 't until I was in my third year of dental school that I knew that I wanted to become a periodontist. The classwork and clinical aspect of periodontics came very easy to me. Also, the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine Periodontal Program was great and encouraged me to apply for a periodontal residency. Dr. LoCastro went to the University of Pittsburgh for his undergraduate education, and his grades were so high that he was actually able to finish his degree in just three years. He then applied to the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, and after earning his dental degree, he went on to complete a 2-year periodontal surgical residency at the same institution. Since finishing school over 30 years ago, he has completed thousands of hours of continuing education and trained under the renowned leader in the field of dental implant dentistry, Dr. Carl Misch. Almost all of Dr. LoCastros free time is dedicated to his family, which consists of his wife, Janet, and their four children, Isabella, Chloe, Anthony, and Domenic. They are all involved in various sports (primarily baseball, basketball, and track), and Dr. LoCastro does everything he can to support their athletic pursuits, whether this involves coaching or simply chauffeuring them between dental offices and games.
Terri has over 30 years of experience in the dental field, and she loves that her job gives her the opportunity to really get to know our patients while helping them get the maximum coverage out of their dental insurance. A Mason, OH native and graduate of the University of Cincinnati, she is the mother of three adult children that have blessed her with five grandchildren. She is also engaged to a wonderful man named Keith, a retired paramedic. When she isnt spending time with family, she likes to go antique shopping or visit Lancaster for weekend getaways.

Dr. Locastro and his staff are wonderful! My daughter has a procedure and everything was explained from the initial appointment until the time we departed from the actual procedure. Professional and caring. Highly recommend!

Dr. LoCastro saw my 89 year old Mom recently. He took the time to explain in detail the reason for the issue my Mom was having with her implants and exactly what was needed to remedy the problem. He was very helpful, patient and kind, as were his assistants, Terri and Heidi. We are so happy my husband suggested we contact Dr. LoCastro and are very grateful for their help.

My husband was looking for a good dentist to have implants done. We were referred to Dr. Locastro. Best referral we've ever had. Dr. Locastro is a true professional. Very personable, explains things very well and so compassionate. He really knows what he is doing and that comes across when he speaks to you. Never have to wait long. We would definitely refer him.

My husband was looking for a good dentist to have implants done. We were referred to Dr. Locastro. Best referral we've ever had. Dr. Locastro is a true professional. Very personable, explains things very well and so compassionate. He really knows what he is doing and that comes across when he speaks to you. Never have to wait long. We would definitely refer him.

Words cannot even describe how fantastic Dr. Locastro and his staff are! I had a root canal tooth that developed a crack and an infection. I went to him for a consultation and he kindly informed me that the tooth could not be saved but did not pressure me to get it out right away. He is truly professional and kind; makes you feel at ease. I decided to get the tooth extracted and a bone graft placed so that I could get an implant in once healed. Dr. Locastro extracted the tooth with ease. It wasn't any worse than getting a filling and he talked the whole time telling me play by play what he was doing. My mouth barely hurt the next day; nothing a few aleve couldn't handle. A few days later my stitches had come out prematurely and he had me come right in and even stayed late after close to get me all fixed up. If you need an extraction or a periodontist for anything, you will not find one better than Dr. Locastro. Believe me, I have been to my fair share of dental specialists over the years!

I had a very bad experience with Dr. Locastro's staff and cannot recommend him for anyone in need of periodontal work. I set up appointments 2 months in advance. His office staff cancelled my visits 5 days prior without my permission. Now I have to find a new doctor and start all over again. They disrespected me and were rude when I complained about it. Instead of apologizing and making things good, they encouraged me to go elsewhere for treatment.

Agree with everything said, Dr LoCastro is top notch. I have been a patient for over 20 years, have always been treated with respect, courtesy, kindness until this morning. I called to cancel an appointment this afternoon, I asked about rescheduling & was told abruptly my hygienist didn't have any openings till next year. I said thank you and hung up. In all honesty I did call 2 weeks in a row day of to cancel. I was trying to explain why I cancelled last minute, the receptionist didn't seem to care. Didn't expect such a response, just taken aback. Does anyone read these reviews? We'll see.

I was referred to Dr. Locastro for a fiberotomy procedure. From the second Dr. Locastro walked into the exam room, my apprehension disappeared. His bedside manner is exceptional. He explained the procedure from start to finish and fielded any questions or concerns I had regarding the procedure. Throughout the procedure, he continued to explain what he was doing and continued to ask if I was ok. When the procedure was finished, he summarized follow care. Dr. Locastro is absolutely AWESOME. I would have no problem recommending Dr. Locastro - top notch dentist!

Dr. Bob LoCastro is the absolute best I've ever come across. He is a magnificent Periodontist. I just recently had a surgical procedure done by him and I have never been treated with more respect and kindness. He is an expert at what he does and He explains everything every step of the way. I had so many horrific experiences with dentists until Dr. Locastro! He is the first dentist that actually cared about my fear of dentists and took every extra step possible to make me feel comfortable. On top of that dental issues i have had because of past uncaring dentists are now in the past and i am already feeling more confident about my smile thanks to the care he has provided.
