Dr. Richard Rowan is a graduate of Merced High School and has enjoyed his many years spent in this community. He attended many of the same schools that his young patients presently attend, and enjoys visiting with them about their experiences as he relates his own.
He graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelors degree in Zoology and immediately began his dental education, attending dental school in St. Louis, Missouri. After he graduated with a Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) degree he felt the desire to specialize in orthodontics, so he continued with his education as an intern at Washington University School of Dental Medicine in St. Louis. As part of his education he obtained a Masters of Science Degree (MSD) in addition to his Orthodontic Specialty degree.
After completing his Orthodontists Degree he became board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists (ABO). As a Certified Orthodontist he continues to expand his orthodontic skills by attending regular continuing education courses. He then offers these new and exiting techniques as part of his orthodontic care for his patients.
Dr. Rowan is a member of numerous dental societies and has served as president of the Yosemite Dental Society. He values his membership in the American Association of Orthodontics , American Board of Orthodontics , Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists , American Dental Association and the Yosemite Dental Society .
He speaks Spanish fluently. Dr. Rowan loves the Merced and Mariposa areas and in his spare time finds inspiration for his paintings in the landscapes, flowers and vegetation. He also enjoys golf and fly fishing.

I absolutely recommend this orthodontist to anyone who is looking for one. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. My experience for getting my braces was amazing and very fast. I DO NOT regret coming here! Dr. Richard Rowan is an amazing and kind doctor. I enjoyed my visit!! I really appreciate how the staff speaks Spanish so that way if you or your parents are more fluent in Spanish they understand. Thank you so much!! I look forward to coming back

Our daughter was extremely nervous, and office manager Eva was amazing our 11 year old got her braces on, Dr Rowan is in our opinion the best Merced has. As we went and interviewed another ortho office first. I'm so glad our investment feels like a great one.

Super awesome, five stars and high-fives for Dr.Rowan! My daughters Rylie and Piper, and I all had braces and dental realignment and couldn't be happier. When you are with Dr.Rowan, he is much more than an orthodontist.... he really cares for you and your well being. Having braces means you have a multi-year relationship with him and the staff. We are so thankful for working with him for so many years. Thank you everyone for everything you do!

Dr. Rowen and staff are wonderful. Always welcoming and easy to get appointments. Payment plans are available and very helpful. My children have all enjoyed being patients. Definitely recommend for children, teens, adults.
