Dr. Richard M. Thomas, Jr. is a general and cosmetic dentist with a passion for helping patients achieve healthy, radiant smiles. Committed to education, advances in the field of dentistry and especially to his patients, Dr.Thomas has dedicated himself to improving his patients' lives.
Dr. Thomas obtained early acceptance into dental school after only three years of pre-doctoral studies. He graduated from Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry before beginning his professional dental career in Savannah, Georgia.
Dr. Thomas completed postdoctoral coursework in Comprehensive Esthetic Dentistry at the Ross Nash Institute, where he later returned to be an instructor. He has also pursued postdoctoral studies on Implant Dentistry at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. Each year, Dr. Thomas invests many hours into continuing education.
As a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry, Dr.Thomas is intimately involved in the national dental community. He also plays an important leadership role among local dentists as Past President of the Savannah Dental Society. Dr.Thomas shares his expertise through presentations to local dental study groups, local dental societies, and small business and neighborhood groups.
We strive to live fulfilled, passionate lives in all that we do. Dr.Thomas and Team attend a wide range of seminars and conferences throughout each year to constantly expand our knowledge in restorative and cosmetic dentistry. We all greatly enjoy pampering and making our guests feel relaxed and at home in our office.
Amy has worked with Dr. Thomas since the beginning of her dental hygiene career. Originally from Augusta, Georgia, Amy studied at Armstrong Atlantic University where she graduated in 1999 Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene Education. Amy enjoys attending seminars with the office team to expand her knowledge in family and cosmetic dentistry. She greatly treasures her time with her husband, family and friends.
Beatriz is a graduate from the University of Zulia in Maracaibo, Venezuela, South America. In 1997 she earned her Doctor of Odontology degree and license as a general dentist in Venezuela. Prior to her dental education, Beatriz graduated from a music conservatory. Beatriz has worked with Dr.Thomas as a highly qualified dental assistant since 1999. She is married and has two wonderful children. Beatriz and her family enjoy cycling, traveling and many activities with their church, The Sanctuary. Beatriz is our team's movie critic due to her passion for the cinema.
Sarah Moore handles everything non-clinical in our office as our Patient Coordinator. She holds a business degree with an emphasis in Medical Administration. Sarah began her career in dentistry in 2009, we were delighted when she joined our Dental Designs of Savannah Team in 2011. Sarah handles everything with impressive efficiency, always with a smile on! She loves being part of our dental family and is dedicated to assisting our patients with their dental health needs. Outside of the office, Sarah enjoys watching her son play baseball and family beach trips together.

Lovely dentist, Dr Thomas is very friendly and knowledgeable, and does a great job explaining things to you without making you feel dumb. It's easy to tell he's passionate about his work and his patients.

Do not go here. I did to get a cavity filled on my molar the dentist also said i needed 3 other cavities filled. the dentist filled 2 out of the 4, but he also filled in my front tooth, which I didnt need done. On top of being ridiculously expensive, 3 months later the filling on my front tooth chipped. Now 10 months later the filling I actually needed on my molar, chipped. Fillings should last up to 7 years. Also after going to my usual dentist back home my usual dentist said i didnt have cavities where dr thomas said i did. I will not be going back.

My first visit was an emergency, getting a cap made for a broken tooth. The cap was made during the same visit and has been perfect the last four years, and more years to come, I'm sure. We get our dental cleanings done there and the skilled staff is amazing and caring. Our family is fortunate to be patients of Dr. Thomas.

My first visit was an emergency, getting a cap made for a broken tooth. The cap was made during the same visit and has been perfect the last four years, and more years to come, I'm sure. I have been going to Dr Thomas and staff for years - they are quite simply amazing. Their focus is always on the individual patient and their unique needs. There is no other place I would go to or recommend than Dr Thomas and Dental Designs of Savannah.

The individual attention you get from Dr. Thomas and his staff are amazing. His gentle demeanor puts you at ease (this coming from a dental phobic person). The office over looks the historic district. You feel like you are in the tree tops. I highly recommend Dental Designs of Savannah- it's like a dental spa!
