Dr. Volk has been serving the Illinois community with its' dental needs since 1979. He did research work at the School of Dental and Oral Surgery at Columbia University and is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in Chicago, graduating with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
Dr. Volk is the owner, administrator and working dentist of two group dental practices, Dr. Volk and Associates (Richard J. Volk, D.D.S. P.C.) in Bartlett, Illinois and Schaumburg Dental Associates (in the Northwest Community Professional Building) in Schaumburg, Illinois. Dr. Volk has been the current Chief of Staff of the Dental Division at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois for over 5 years.
Dr. Volk was chosen to receive 'The 2011 Chicago Top Doctors & Dentists Award' for his achievement in the dental field. He was invited to participate in the filming of the Top Doc Chicago television commerical, airing on FOX Chicago during the Doctor OZ show, besides receiving a plaque.
Dr. Volk is a member of the American Dental Association, Chicago Dental Society, Illinois State Dental Society, American Student Dental Association, Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity, American Academy of Pedodontics and American Academy of General Dentistry.
In addition to general dentistry, Dr. Volk is certified and licensed to perform laser medicine and surgery, branemark implants, core-vent implants, imz implants, Straumann implants, 3i implants and madibular staple implants. Dr. Volk also actively works on emergency cases within the surrounding area hospitals.
Dr. Volk has been published in various trade journals, dental abstracts and newspapers including, Illinois State Dental Journal, Dentistry Today, Dental Products Reports and Prevention magazine. Dr. Volk is also an active lecturer in the field of anesthetics and has lectured in New York, Boston, California, Georgia and Hamburg, Germany. Dr. Volk was also published in DENTAL ABSTRACTS, 'A selection of World Dental Literature' June 1984 Volume 29 Number 6, operative dentistry for his Anesthetic Warmer. Dr. Volk was also chosen to receive 'The 2011 Chicago Top Doctors and Dentists Award' for achievement in the dental field.
Dr. Volk says, 'people love having shots that don 't hurt', so in 1984, Dr. Volk invented, patented and prototyped the 'Injecta Caddy' to help give almost painless dental injections. The 'Injecta Caddy' is a special device developed by Dr. Volk for storing, warming and dispensing carpules of medication such as Novocain. This device is currently used as a standard for dental injections in both the United States and Europe.
Dr. Volk was voted one of American 's Top Dentists for 2003-2004 and is featured in Strathmore 's 'Who 's Who' 2001 and 2002, The National Registry of Who 's Who - Historical Society (Boston, Massachusetts) and has been accepted as a life member in the Kingston 's National Registry of Who 's Who. Dr. Volk even repaired a broken denture for President Ronald Reagan in the summer of 1984.
Aside from all of Dr. Volk 's accomplishments, most of all, he is honest, and is more into the care of his patients than money. Early in his career, Dr. Volk even put in a solid gold crown on a dog with a broken tooth. The story 'Okay Honey Bear, Bite Down' by Fran Spitz Coulter was published in Dental Economics in January 1983. When serious dental emergencies arise and patients are in excruciating pain, Dr. Volk is quoted as saying, 'I 'm not your best friend... I 'm your only friend.'
When Dr. Volk does have time to be away from his busy dental practice, he enjoys golfing, racquetball, horseback riding, boat racing, fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving. Dr. Volk is a native of New York City, is married with three children and resides in Schaumburg, Illinois.

I went Doc he is very knowledgeable he know what he doing he let you know the procedure that you need I really love Dr V he is very knowledgeable of what he's doing in his dentist and that's why I a love about him I will highly recommend him to anybody

I walked into the nice building. Went into Dr. Volkswagen office and was greeted nicely. Dr. Volk took some time before my teeth cleaning and showed me x-rays and pictures of teeth and how they work. The background music was really relaxing, an instrument I've really never heard before called the Lute. He took care of my teeth. Thanks Dr. Volk!

Dr. Volk is great. Very knowledgeable and educates you every step of the way of any procedure you may undergo. I just had a crown placed today and it is perfection. He has laid out a very comprehensive plan for the many procedures that I have left. Great Dentist, great guy with the best stories!

Absolutely great dentist. Have been seeing him since I was a kid. Explains everything thoroughly and give you all the options and always comes though when your in pain or if something like a crown or bridge breaks.

I have been a patient of Dr Volk for over 25 yrs. He was always there for an emergency and has always been reasonable in charges. I have my daughters and granddaughter all see him and my husband too.

Dr. Volk has been our family dentist for thirty-five years. Not only is he an excellent dentist but he is also a good friend as well. His professional workmanship has solved many of our difficult dental problems. He deserves our highest recommendation. I and my family have been patients of Dr. Volk for more years than I wish to remember. I trust him explicitly with my dental health to do what is in my best interest based on my experience compared with other dentists I have seen. He always explains the procedures he is going to do and why answering all questions as the work progresses. With each root canal the posts used are always gold and he makes sure that the finished crowns fit correctly and has not been shy in having labs redo their work if it did not meet his expectations.

I have been going to Dr. Volk since 1979 and will not go to another general dentist until he retires. He has done cleanings, root canals, extractions, crowns and permanent bridges in my mouth with little or no discomfort. He is a dentist who will try to save the tooth and also try to find a way to fix the problem that isn't too expensive. Dr. Volk explains everything simply so you understand what needs to be done and his staff are friendly and helpful in scheduling appointments and insurance forms. If you need a dentist Dr. Volk is the dentist to go to.

Dr. Richard Volk in Roselle, Illinois is an excellent dentist and he knows his job much better than many other dentists. He is honest and tries very hard to save you money. I had crowns put in, got root canal work done and every single time I came back very happy. He is our family dentist for a very long time and I wish him all the best.

Dr. Richard Volk is a master of his craft. You can tell he was meant to be a dentist. Dr. Volk always explains all your options for dental procedures. Prior to finding Dr. Volk, I had numerous not so pleasant dental experiences, often putting necessary things off. Dr. Volk has done a great job of making me feel comfortable going to the dentist. I am happy to have found someone who takes so much pride in dentistry and taking care of his patients dental needs.

I was given heavy doses of tetracycline as a kid to treat salmonella. As a result, I have terrible teeth. I have had a root canal in almost every tooth in my mouth. That being the case, I needed a top notch dentist. Dr. Richard Volk is that man! He's the only dentist I know who has figured out a way to apply Novacaine painlessly, and whereas other dentists have taken almost 2 hours to access and remove one root for me, I have seen Dr. Volk do it in under two minutes time after time. Every time I have a dental emergency, Dr. Volk is there to remove the pain and to give me back my smile. Thank God for Richard Volk and his amazing talents! If you look in his office, you will see several awards that say, "Richard Volk, top 2% of dentists" for that given year. Wonderful staff, too!

I've been a patient of Dr. Volk for many years. Recently he correctly diagnosed a dental problem for me and solved the problem in a cost effective and less invasive manner. Years ago he informed me that I didn't need to have one of my old filings replaced when another dentist said that I did. I still haven't had to replace that filling. He is very good at diagnosing dental problems and fixing them. Plus he is trustworthy regarding what detail treatments you do need and what you don't need.
