Dr. Rene Ghotanian grew up and received his primary education in the Burbank/Glendale area of Southern California. Curiosity of working with his hands led him to the famous University of Southern Californias Dental School in 1991. Graduation from dental school he started a post doctorate program in surgery and research at Boston University under a NIH grant. He returned back home in 1996 and established a private practice in Burbank.
Currently his passion and interest in the field of dentistry is specifically surgery and implantology. He has graduated and completed many post doctoral fellowships in this field, including the highly regarded Loma Linda Fellowship where he is a proud lecturer.
Dr. Ghotanian is in a very small group of licensed and approved practitioners by the Dental Board of California in the field of intra venous sedation and anesthesia. Mastering this skill allows him to sedate patients under full monitoring in his state of the art surgical suite at his Encino office, for all surgical and implantology related procedures. The pursuit for excellence and advancement has taken him to the very elite and famous Goethe University in Frankfurt Germany. He has been a MOI (Masters of Oral Implantology) candidate for the past couple of years.
Rene has earned a Master of Science in the field of Oral Implantology in early 2015. As a masters student his thesis and research was in the field of immediate implantation in moral areas with out the use of grafting materials. With FDA approval he conducted a clinical trial of a new approach, which has never been tried. This new idea in implant surgery has proven to be very successful and is currently patent pending. He is currently lecturing internationally on the topic.
Dr. Ghotanian is a past clinical instructor at the UCLA School of Dentistry and actively lectures at Loma Linda University and the California Implant Institute. He is an Associate Fellow of the America Academy of Implant Dentistry and a Fellow and Master of the International Congress of Oral Implantology.

Don't go here if you want to save your teeth and walk out alive. They deleted and reported my mom's post so I'm posting here. The negative review is because they over charge and don't confirm a patient is healthy before they do sedation. They are rude to other offices when asking the call to ask for the x-rays. They will try and remove this post as they did my mom's, but they are a horrible. Don't come here if you want to WALK OUT ALIVE WITH TEETH. They are very rude with replies or contact Google to flag your account yet they don't tell about themselves Update: After my mom called the office and Margie says she never goes online... was there a reply to my post. So I notified Google about their schnanagans so they are on Google radar.

Untrustworthy doctor and staff. They will make anything up in order to take your money! I've never had any troubles with my teeth and he tried to scare me into starting a new procedure that I "needed." I'm so glad I waited and found a new dentist who is genuine and caring. She told me he was definitely lying! Please do not trust this man and do not give him your money! Edit to their reply: Yes, they definitely do! That's why I know you guys are scammers. No need to thank me. I just hope my honest review helps other innocent patients!

I can never trust Dr. Rene Ghotanian ever and his front desk staff! The first priority for him is money and not caring for the patient. I had two bad experiences with Dr Ghotanian. He referred me to an Endodontist for root canal treatment of my tooth. Then, his staff called me that I need to come back to office and get a referral for Periodontist to extract my tooth instead of Endo! what? they were supposed to save my tooth and not extract it to put an implant!! Finally I went to an Endodontist and did a root canal. I'm happy I didn't let them pull out my tooth. Never trust this dentist!

I've been a patient of dr. Ghotanian for probably over a decade. During that time I always felt like I was rushed in and out by him and he always seemed to find something I needed to do that was always expensive and required things like removing a tooth etc. recently I had a very bad toothache and he tried to rush me into getting dental surgery that would've required me to pay over $10,000 out of pocket. He made it seem like it was urgent and tried to get me to commit to this procedure right away (he seems to love making everything seem like to urgent and needs to be taken care of right then and there). I've always felt like I was being upsold by this doctor. You know that feeling when your in the finance office of a used car lot and they want you to sign right then and there. That's how t feels dealing with this guy. Anyways, to make a long story short I was recommended to another dentist who took x-rays, did an exam and they informed me that I didn't need the tooth extraction, implant, surgery etc. needless to say I wasn't surprised. It's been over a year and my teeth feel fine. I feel like Ghotanian tried to rush me into this surgery just to make a buck off me. I would not recommend this doctor. Don't let the fancy location in Encino fool you. I personally am very distrustful of this doctor.

I always feel welcomed and get the personal touch at his offices. Dr. Ghotanian is a good listener, pays attention to details, and has an excellent staff. He just completed a beautiful front tooth implant for me, after I had an accident and knocked out my tooth. I highly recommend him.

From the moment I walked through the door my experience was stellar. The office staff is kind and cheerful. Dr. G is gentle and thorough and soothed my anxiety with his fun, upbeat personality. I would highly recommend their practice to everyone as I no longer hate going to the dentist :)

Dr. Ghotanian thank you for your GREAT service! My greatest fear is the dentist. That being said Dr. Ghotanian and his staff have been very accommodating. His work is impeccable! I can't rave and rant enough about Dr. Ghotanian and his team. Getting my implant done was so simple. I'm very happy with the result. The Dr. is so talented. He knows his stuff. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Dr. Ghotanian is very knowledgeable and kind. I had three teeth extracted with implants installed in the same procedure. Incredibly I had very little pain that was easily controlled with tylenol and motrin. I have never had a dental procedure of that type with so little pain which is telling of one thing. This doctor has skills! I have heard from people there are dentists out there that are good enough at what they do to keep the pain and swelling to a minimum I just had not run across it yet. Looks like I found one!
