At the age of seventeen I knocked out my upper front teeth while playing basketball. This accident hurt like heck, but worse was the thought of being toothless for the rest of my life. Little did I know then about the science and innovation that dentistry offered. In just a short time my teeth were saved and my smile restored.
I 've often told my staff, 'I could never be a general dentist!' Why? Because it is so much more exciting and fun interacting with kids. No two days are ever the same and there is never a dull moment. Kids are witty and keep me on my toes. They are innocent and help me be a better person.

I graduated from the dental assisting program at College of the Redwoods in 2002 and have worked in the dental field since then. I started working at Growing Smiles in May of 2010. I enjoy working with the staff at Growing Smiles, they have become part of my family. Having the opportunity to work with the children and their families truly makes my job

Hello there! My name is Tia and I have been working at Growing Smiles Dentistry since 2002. I was born and raised here in Eureka where I met my husband Bryan. We have two children, a boy and a girl. I enjoy working with children because of their honesty and they say the funniest things!
Front Office/Insurance & Billing I have lived in Humboldt County most of my life and enjoy many of the outdoor activities our area has to offer. I love hiking, fishing, camping and am also a Zumba fitness instructor with two beautiful daughters. I enjoy meeting all our wonderful patients and getting to know so many great families in our community. It's a pleasure to help make it possible for them to get the dental care they need. I coordinate patient benefits, billing matters, schedule patients, and am otherwise here to make sure everything runs smoothly in the financial aspect of the practice.

Hi my name is Katherine. I was raised in Humboldt County and graduated from College of the Redwoods dental assisting program in 2016. As a part of the program I was lucky to intern at Growing Smiles and never left. When I am not at the office, I enjoy spending time with my growing family. We enjoy all of the outdoor activities that our beautiful area has to offer, as well as cheering on our local sports teams of all ages. I love that I am able to watch the children of my hometown grow up throughout the years to come.
Hi! My name is Rebecca. I was born and raised here in Humboldt County. During my free time I enjoy hiking with my son. I am new to the Growing Smiles Family and am currently studying to obtain my RDA license.
Ensuring each child has a warm and inviting experience with every visit is top priority for our Doctor and Staff. We want each child to feel comfortable and excited about coming to see us and leave with a sparkling smile (and a ballon).
Here at Growing Smiles we strive to be prepared for any emergency situation. All of our staff are CPR certified and up to date with all OSHA rules and regulations. We periodically have emergency procedure reviews and Dr. Heckert is PALS certified.
All of our assistants have gone through Dental Assisting School and earned their Registered Dental Assistant Certificate. We also attend continuing education throughout the year to insure we provide the best standard of care avaliable.
