Dr. Moran, one of only a few female, board-certified orthodontists in Denver, was born and raised in Danville, Pennsylvania. She attended the University of Notre Dame for her undergraduate study and then, after a year of service with Americorps, came out to Denver for dental school at the University of Colorado. At CU, she was awarded a full scholarship through the Air Force and graduated in the top of her class. She went on to attend a 1-year general dentistry residency at the Air Force Academy and worked as a general dentist for 3 years at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, FL.

The beach was nice but she and her family missed the mountains. She decided to come back to CU to attend its orthodontic residency program where she received her certificate in orthodontics and Master of Science degree. Upon graduating, her faculty presented her with the Resident of the Year award acknowledging her as the top resident in her class.

Dr. Moran practices orthodontics with the same bite correction philosophy as Dr. Girardot and is thrilled to have found such a great partner and mentor. It is her desire and goal to help better educate the public on the importance and benefits of having a healthy and functional bite for life-long stability of the chewing system as well as a spectacular smile.

Dr. Moran is a part-time clinical professor at University of Colorados Orthodontic Program where she teaches her bite correction philosophy to the current residents. She is board certified by the American Board of Orthodontists and is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association and all of their local chapters.

Dr. Girardot, a fourth-generation native of Colorado, practiced orthodontics in Denver for over 40 years. His commitment to the profession and his clinical excellence are celebrated throughout the dental community not only locally but nationally and internationally as well. He has numerous publications in orthodontic literature and lectures all around the world about the importance of functional occlusion and orthodontics. He is co-founder, past co-director and faculty member of the Advanced Education in Orthodontics (Roth/Williams USA) at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and remains on faculty at the University of Colorado, School of Dentistry, Department of Orthodontics. He has been listed as a 5280 Magazine Top Orthodontist every year since the inception of the survey.

During his time teaching orthodontic residents at CU, he had been searching for a resident that embodied the values of his practice and had the skills to deliver superior results. He found that combination in Dr. Renee Moran. A few years ago, he identified Dr. Moran as an outstanding prospect for his practice and asked her to join him as an associate. She has been working at the practice since February 2018 and partnered with Dr. G in October of that same year. After working together for almost 2 years, Dr. Girardot knew he had finally found someone to carry on his legacy. He not only felt extremely confident in her clinical abilities to deliver top-quality, bite correction orthodontics but also highly valued the compassionate care she continues to deliver to our valued patients.

Dr Girardot officially retired from his Denver practice in September 2019. He still maintains a small practice in Carbondale, CO but now has more time to enjoy angling the rivers and streams of Colorado knowing he has left his beloved practice and patients in excellent hands. Dont be surprised though, you may still see his face around the office from time to time as he stops by to say hello to dear old friends.

Doctors in dentistry who are known for their knowledge of function, all agree that the relationship between the teeth and jaw joints is the primary key to long term health and stability of the chewing system. Most orthodontists focus primarily on tooth alignment and do not correct the functional relationship between the teeth and jaw joints- this is where our doctor differs. Dr. Moran follows the Roth/Williams philosophy which states that orthodontic treatment can, and should, be more than just straightening teeth. She incorporates comprehensive diagnostics, thorough and individualized treatment mechanics, and the latest orthodontic advancements for treating the entire dental and facial systems.

At Foundations Orthodontics, we have specific and defined goals: beautifully aligned teeth that fit harmoniously with properly positioned jaw jointspromoting healthy teeth and gums, efficient chewing, and ideal facial balance. By establishing and sharing these goals with your dental team (the orthodontist, dentist and/or specialist) we can work together to provide outstanding results in beauty, health, and function.

Since excellent results require careful planning, we believe in taking thorough and accurate diagnostic records and establishing a comprehensive plan prior to the start of your treatment. This up-front knowledge and plan yields shorter treatment times, better results, and improved stability. We offer many options when it comes to orthodontic treatment, including Invisalign, clear braces, and limited treatment. Check out our article on What To Look For In An Orthodontist for more info.
