Dr. Michaelson has degrees from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore (B.A. in Biology), Southern Methodist University in Dallas (M.S. in Biology with emphasis in the physiology of aging), The University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.), and The University of Michigan School of Dentistry (Certificate in Endodontics).
Dr. Michaelson was inducted into the dental honor society of Omicron Kappa Upsilon in 1999. He haspublished original research reportsin professional journals, including the International Endodontic Journal ('Is Pulpitis Painful?'), Compendium ('Management of a Severely Malpositioned Replanted Avulsed Tooth: A Case Report'), and theJournal of Endodontics ('A Novel Treatment for Propagated Crown Fractures' and 'Long-term Evaluation of Fracture Removal Treatment for Propagated Crown Fractures').
Dr. Michaelson was certified by the American Board of Endodontics in 2005 as a Diplomate, an honor bestowed upon endodontic specialists displaying expertise in the field. Dr. Michaelson has been a reviewer for the Journal of Endodontics since 2005 andhas alsoserved asan expert witness for the State of Ohio Dental Board and as a Trustee of the Greater Cleveland Dental Society. Dr. Michaelson has been listed asa'Top Dentist' in Cleveland magazine. .

Dr. Michaelson is very nice, and caring. He explains everything to you and checks often to make sure you are comfortable and pain free. His assistant, Sheila is super kind and caring as well. While the doctor was doing the procedure, she must have seen my body language of being very tense and put her hand on my shoulder for reassurance. This is a one doctor office that is exceptionally clean and pleasant. Everyone is very nice!

Dr. Michaelson was the best experience I've had when it comes to procedures on my teeth! He explains everything in detail, and ensures you know exactly what's happening while he's working on you. Staff is just as excellent!! Highly recommend him!!

I had a root canal done there and was very nervous. The procedure went great! The front office was very friendly and helpful and Dr Michaelson and his assistant were awesome! I had no pain during the procedure and was treated like a queen. He asked me if I was ok many times thru the whole thing and called me himself that night to see how I felt. Another call from the office the next day to check on me. The best dental experience I ever had! I would recommend this place to anyone!

I went to DR Philip after my dentist broke an instrument in my mouth during a root canal. I cannot say enough about the professionalism of the office and the one on one interaction I had with the doctor. He went out of his way to explain what was going to happen and how I would feel that evening and even followed up with a wellness call. Needless to say I hope I never have to make an appointment to see an endodontist again but if I do I will have no problem going back to DR Philip.

Awful experience. Front desk receptionists were cold and rude. Asked for nitrous for the procedure and was told they have it but the doctor doesn't use it. In too big of a rush to care about patient comfort. Asked for extra novicain and Mr. I'm in a hurry dentist said he'll give me more if I need it. Really? Started the procedure and needed an extra shot. I always need extra novicain at the dentist but he didn't care to listen. Bragged about how fast he was--just wants to crank out as many root canals as he can. Don't go here if you want to be treated with respect. I will never go back.

Dr Michaelson is extremely kind and caring. I don't know that I've had any other doctors or dentists that have that good of a bedside manner. And he really knows his stuff - this is where you come when you need an expert.

I had 4 fillings before at my general dentist and one had to have root canal treatment. I'm 16 and I was extremely nervous. I had heard nothing but horrible things about this procedure and that didn't help my nerves. Dr. Michaelson did an amazing job. He explained everything to me, constantly asked if I was doing well during the procedure, and I was out in 40 minutes!! I recommend anyone who needs a root canal to be done to go to him! Everything was totally painless and they make sure you are comfortable throughout the procedure. Many are afraid of the shots but after topical gel, you don't feel a thing!! I was in and out and feeling better than before.

my dentist referred dr. michaelson for a complicated procedure. i was in terrible pain. dr michaelson staff got me in right away. dr. michaelson was amazing. every few minutes checking on me. explaining everything. it was an amazing experience. the staff was amazing. i highly reccomend this office.
