I truly enjoy listening to people and helping them solve problems to better their health. I strive to get to know my patient and establish a rapport before starting work. Learning their concerns is the first step, and that begins with talking with them on a respectful basis. I enjoy discovering an individuals goals, wants, and needs, developing a comprehensive treatment plan for them, and seeing it through to completion.
Everyone should be empowered to understand all of their issues before making treatment decisions that may affect them on many levels: function, medical, aesthetic, financial, social, and psychological. A person must understand the implications of their decisions, and I enjoy watching individuals gain an accurate comprehension of their issues: we move from a doctor-patient relationship to being co-members on a team, striving for the same goal.
Being an oral and maxillofacial surgeon is my life. It is not a job;it is a lifestyle, and as such goes with me everywhere. My work affords me an avenue to try to improve others lives in my own way and, in so doing, to improve my community.
After completing dental school, I was accepted into the oral and maxillofacial surgery training program at the Massachusetts General Hospital:the birthplace of modern surgery training, as well as surgical and dental general anesthesia.
This is an intense six-year program that included graduation from Harvard Medical School in 1993 and completion of two years of general surgery training. This was followed by six months of anesthesia training and craniofacial surgery training at Boston Childrens Hospital and Boston Shriners Hospital for Children.
I completed the program in 1996 and was accepted for further clinical fellowship training at the Institute of Facial and Cosmetic Surgery in Salt Lake City. There, I was trained by aestheticallyminded plastic, facial plastic, facial cosmetic, and laser dermatologic surgeons.
The world and technology are constantly changing, and it is imperative to stay abreast of those developments. At Central Wisconsin Oral and Facial Surgery, we are acutely aware of this and feel our ongoing pursuit of continuing education is a cornerstone of our ability to deliver world-class care with a local touch.
I am a founder and co-leader of the Spear Education, Central Wisconsin Study Club. I also complete a range of continuing medical and dental education courses locally, regionally, and nationally in order to stay current on the latest research and advancements.
While I was in dental school, Celine received her masters degree in clinical psychology from West Chester University and worked at the Art Institute of Philadelphia. Then she served asthe director of the Undergraduate Wellness Center at Boston University and completed her Doctorate in developmental and sports psychology at Boston University.

She also created their masters program in sport psychology. She has been a professor of psychology at Newberry College in Boston, University of Denver, and the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County;and associate professor in health promotion/human wellness at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Celine and I have three children: Nicholas, a freshman at American University in Washington, DC, is majoring in international studies. Shaye is a junior at East High School and hopes to further her studies in New York City. Holley is at Horace Mann Middle School and is waiting for the world to catch up to her! We also have two dogs and a very strange cat.
We enjoy traveling the world, because we believeexploration is the best educator, and have tried to take our family on many trips. Closer to home, my girls are excellent piano players at the Wausau Conservatory of Music, and my son and I enjoy checking out the sights in DC and discussing world politics.

A dental implant is an artificial tooth that acts like a natural one. Its a long-term solution to replace one or more missing teeth. A dental implant replaces the entire tooth, from root to crown, and offers important benefits, like increased stability, durability, and aesthetics.
The root of a dental implant is a small, post-like device made from titanium or titanium zirconium. It is inserted into the jaw bone in place of a missing tooth root, and acts as a support for an artificial tooth crown.
The healing phase lasts between three and 12 weeks, depending on the individual medical situation. During this period, the implant becomes securely attached as the jaw bone grows and bonds with ita process called osseointegration. Once healed, the artificial root acts as a base for an individual crown, multi-tooth bridge, or an entire dental prosthesis.
With conventional crown and bridge treatment, healthy neighboring teeth must be ground down in order to support a bridge. This results in the loss of natural tooth surface. Furthermore, the bridge does not transmit chewing forces to the jaw bone, so bone deterioration may also occur.
Even the best prosthesis will always be a separate part that requires extensive care. By contrast, a dental implant acts as a natural root that merges and integrates with the body to act like a natural tooth.
Implants transmit chewing forces to the jaw bone, helping to maintain your bone and facial structure. This is not the case if teeth are missing, or when a conventional bridge or dentures has been placed. If these forces cease, the bone may slowly recede and the shape of the face may change over time. Dental implants can help prevent this gradual bone deterioration, as they mimic the action of the original root.
Laughing, kissing, singing, and eating like beforeimplants can improve your quality of life. Missing teeth can cause self-consciousness and insecurity, and ill-fitting dentures can cause permanent discomfort. These inconveniences come to a welcome halt with dental implants.
Dental implant therapy is a well-proven, state-of-the-art medical dental technique. For decades, dental implants have been tested and used worldwide by qualified dentists and surgeons. Today, implants offer the possibility to treat almost every indication for missing teeth. According to results of a survey carried out in Germany, 98% of patients indicated their satisfaction level with their dental implants was good or very good.1
