In an effort to contribute to the responsible guidance of her alma mater into the future, Dr. Steed is privileged to hold the position of Chair, IU School of Dentistry, Board of Advisors, previously under the tutelage of past Dean John Williams, and presently, under the guidance of current Dean Carol-Anne Murdock-Kirch.

Dr. Steed began her career in dentistry as a dental hygienist, who coincidentallyexperienced a TMJ Disorder as a teenager. As a hygienist, Dr. Steed encountered many patients who suffered from TMJ Disorder, thus motivating her to reassess her vocational goals and continue her education by enrolling in the Indiana University School of Dentistry and earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS), Master of Science in Oral Medicine/Oral Diagnosis/Oral Pathology degrees (MSD). Understandably, her empathy and compassion for her patientsresultsfrom her personal experience with TMJ Disorder.

The constantly evolving diagnostic and treatment modalities in the field of craniofacial pain demands frequent attendance at symposia, continuing education courses and pertinent workshops in order to keep abreast of her field. This focus and attentiveness to her area of interest is what keeps Dr. Steed current and able to provide the most up-to-date diagnostic measures and treatment methods available today.

Please consider before wasting your time and money. The first part of my exam went well. Jodi was attentive, kind, and listened to my issues. The second part of the exam was a disaster. After hearing an argument between Dr. Steed and a staff member occurring outside my exam room, Dr. Steed walks in obviously upset, rushed through my exam, and diagnoses me with neck pain. I was there primarily for ear pain/joint swelling. She did not even attempt to answer any of my questions and her expert opinion was to take Advil for the swelling. I was out of there so fast even the receptionist made a comment about how quick my exam had been. A 6 month wait and $500+ later, I guess I'll switch my Ibuprofen out for Advil. It wasn't all for naught though...Dr. Steed gave me a nifty plastic case for the mouth guard I brought in.

I was diagnosed with TMJ in January and it was awful. My pain was easily a level 5 almost daily. I saw both a chiropractor and a massage therapist to manage it. Both were great but not permanent fixes. I was referred to Dr. Steed and as soon as I had my fist consult I knew I was in the right place. Her questionnaire asked questions that only someone who had suffered from TMJ would know to ask. I felt incredibly safe with her and her team. Today I was given my mouth appliance to help correct my bite; I wear it 24/7 for six months. It's not super comfortable but neither is TMJ. I walked into my appointment with jaw pain and within 10 minutes of having the appliance on it was gone. I took it out later to clean it and the pain instantly came back because of how my jaw shifted back. I reinserted the appliance and again the pain was gone. My sinuses are finally draining correctly too. Dr. Steed and her team are amazing. I truly feel like they care for each individual patient and like I am fully supported in this process.

Went for a TMJ diagnosis Doctor arrived 40 minutes late and the whole appointment was less than 15 minutes to tell me i have nothing which is not true and They make you pay upfront and will tell you they will file with the insurance company but they never do, called them many times and claim that they did and i have not received anything from my insurance company, save your money and time and see someone who isn't incompetent and full of it.

I went to Dr. Steed after 8+ months of increasing jaw pain, which became so bad I could only eat soup. I was hesitant of wearing the mouth piece at first for such a long time. It took some getting used to, but my pain was gone within a week. Now I am "graduated" and only wear it at night. The staff is kind and informative, and I felt more comfortable here than in any other doctor's office. I highly recommend you go to Dr. Steed if you are in pain.

This dentist came highly recommended. She lacks kindness and interpersonal skills and is very unprofessional. I wish we would have saved our money and time.

Dr. Steed and her staff improved my life. I was in pain every day, constant headache and muscle tightness. I could talk and eat fine but I had an ache in my jaw. I did not think I had TMJ. I had gone to my dentist, endodontist, chiropractor, osteopath, massage therapist and finally I made it to Dr. Steed. After she evaluated me, she told me I definitely needed treatment. My TMJD was a 10+, I could open my mouth to 31, I had arthritis in both jaws, the right side condyle disc was completely out and the left side partially out of place. After wearing my mouthpiece 24 hours a day for 8 months, along with making some life changes to create less stressful living, I now only wear my mouthpiece at night. I feel good and enjoy life again. I can open my mouth to 45 now. Thank you to Dr. Steed and her team. They changed my life and made it so much better.

Highly Skeptical, I was referred to Dr. Steed's office by a friend. I've had TMJ for years, but never thought much of it and have even tried the silicone mouth guards made at dentist office with no relief. For the last year I've had horrible migraines and extreme dizziness. I went to my family doctor for what I was convinced to be something serious, then given clean bill of health. I was convinced something was wrong with me! Dr. Steed has since fitted me with an acrylic (solid) mouthpiece spacer to wear 24/hrs for 6 Months. Two months in and I feel AMAZING. My dizziness is completely gone, not one headache, I'm sleeping through the night, and my pain is finally manageable! Insurance did not cover and treatment is expensive, but I have not regrets. I am so grateful to her and her amazing staff for the quality of life I've been given! I can not express my gratitude enough!

I was referred to Dr. Steed in August 2016 following a snorkeling incident that caused my jaw to lock closed for an hour. I'd had TMJ issues my whole life, and when they eventually came to a head Dr. Steed fixed the root cause. I wore a MORA splint 24/7 for six months and my jaw was infinitely better than it had ever been in my life. I had no issues weaning off the splint, and I'm now wearing braces to finish the job. I recommend Dr. Steed's treatment for anyone with jaw issues. Take negative reviews of her on other websites with a large grain of salt...I'm inclined to think many are unhappy noncompliant patients. 100% patient compliance is the key to this treatment and healing process!!
