Subsequently, he moved to Boston to pursue a cancer research position at Boston University Medical School, studying the gene expression of Collagen and Elastin. After a few years, he enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, to continue the same project. This is where Nima realized that being a so-called lab rat was not his calling. He quickly shifted gears and pursued a combined dual-degree at the University of Pennsylvania Dental School and School of Education, one of only 6 people to do so out of his class of 120.

Additionally, during his second year in dental school, he was one of only 10 students in the US to win a prestigious research fellowship at the National Institute of Health (NIH/NIDCR), where he research the gene expression of mast cells, that are a key cell in any allergic reaction. Towards the end of his dental school training, he decided to further his schooling, with the hopes of pursing an academic teaching position in the future. This is when he elected to attend medical school at Vanderbilt University, while pursuing a six-year residency program in one of the original Oral and Maxillofacial surgery programs in the United States dating back to 1960s.

After attending medical school, he completed a one year general surgery internship at Vanderbilt and then initiated his full-time residency in Oral Surgery. Subsequently, after seeing the devastating effects of facial trauma during his residency in the Southeast, he partook in a Facial Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship at the Ohio State University under Dr. T. William Evans fine tuning his aesthetic surgery skills.

Finally in the summer of 2008, he decided to hit the road. He moved to Northern California and co-founded Silicon Valley Surgical Arts (SVSA). The aim: to create a one-stop- shop for anything related to the face, from facial trauma to oral surgical procedures, including the beautification of the face and smile. Then in 2010 he expanded his practice to San Francisco and formed a second office in the heart of the financial district called San Francisco Surgical Arts (SFSA). Part of his goal was to create more convenient access to care for his patients that may live in Silicon valley. Additionally, this office became the first Platinum LEED certified green office in the nation, winning numerous architectural and design awards. This office was featured in the foremost book on medical and dental office design that is published by Ms. Jain Malkin Inc.

Dr. Massoomi is Board-Certified in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery and teaches at the University of Pacific School of Dentistry. He spends his free time biking, hiking, running and searching for the best burger in San Francisco.

Dr. Massoomi was recommended to me by my dentist. I had a tooth that was badly infected as a consequence of a poor root canal done in the past (Infection that numerous other dentists and oral surgeons missed!!). Dr. Massoomi and his team took great care of me, from the first consultation until the follow up post op. Always available over the phone or via email, they have been the best. Thoughtful, empathetic and reassuring - they delivered the best care I could ask for. No doubts - the best experience I've ever had with a medical clinic.

Amazing experience!! The surgery itself was great!! I went the IV sedation route and don't regret it. Worthwhile to not remember anything. The recovery was good too. Apart from this, the office handled everything perfectly right from the beginning till the end.

Professional with details spelled out for follow on care and available for any additional assistance or questions. Complex dentistry requires the best technology and very capable and steady hands. Dr Massoomi has both.

I was so nervous about the extraction and implant process. Dr. Massoomi and staff are amazing. Truly. It was so much better than I thought it would be. Dr. Massoomi explained the process well and the staff offered terrific care. Another plus, they are always on time and never make me wait, from surgery to follow up appointments. Highly recommended!!!

I dreaded about getting my wisdom teeth pulled, which is why I have been putting it off for so many years until now I'm in my late 30s. One of the wisdom teeth is sitting really close to the cranial facial nerve, which added to my anxiety that half of my face might paralyze from the surgery. Dr Massoomi explained to me that using CT scan images, they would surgically stay away from the nerve so it doesn't damage it. The surgery itself felt fast, I woke up and it was done. The recovery process was not as bad as I anticipated. I followed the instructions faithfully, ice compression, medication etc and suffice to say, I had minimal swelling to my face. No one could tell I had a wisdom teeth extraction. So far no paresthesia, on track to recovery. Really grateful for Dr Massoomi. It feels like a huge weight has been lifted off of my chest. Thank you Dr!

Dr. Massoomi is an excellent oral surgeon. I had three wisdoms teeth that was bothering me and I got all three of them out. He did a great job reassuring me that everything was going to be alright during the surgery. He and his team also did a great job with instructions on what to do prior and after the surgery. I would definitely recommend people who need to take their wisdom teeth out to go see Dr. Massoomi.

After looking at reviews online extensively I decided Dr. Massoomi was the best choice for me. Besides his awesome credentials he also has raving reviews online, and he did not disappoint. Had my lower right wisdom teeth removed by Dr Massoomi. It was close to the nerve (about 2-3mm) so I was quite nervous about it and looked up a lot of info online. Dr. Massoomi was great in helping calm my nerves and even answered my questions via email/ phone. Day of the surgery everything went smoothly, nerve was not touched at all. They do IVF anaesthesia which kind of tripped me out but I didn't feel a thing in the surgery. I was very nervous so that was great - I'd hate to be awake and hear them doing xyz to my teeth. They also pack the wound with bone growth material so there's almost no chance of dry socket. I had no issues in my recovery, I was off pain medication in under 5 days.

Dr. Massoomi was amazing, along with the rest of the staff. He was super friendly and funny and made my feel well taken care of before, during, and after my oral surgery. They were available for contact 24/7 and that put me at ease when I was recovering at home. He did an amazing job and I healed quickly too! Thank you !!!

Dr Massomi was excellent in his plan of treatment and procedure for my special dental case. I got my 2 wisdom teeth removed and Dr Masoomi and his team took utmost care of me; even after the surgery was over they constantly were in touch with me, checking on my healing status. I appreciate the staff there especially Mai, she was phenomenal in getting back to me and helping me with any concerns regarding appointment, payment plan and insurance. Dr Masoomi's wealth of dental knowledge is phenomenal and most importantly he really cares for his patient. I 10/10 recommend his office for dental work; you can definitely trust him and this place will make sure you get the best line of treatment. Thank you Dr Massomi, I appreciate your efforts and time.
