Our own Dr. Davey is a member of the Spear Faculty Club because he believes continuing education is extremely important not only to his practice, but to the field of dentistry as a whole. He frequently uses the platform to teach fellow dentists as well as better inform himself so he can stay on top of the latest trends and advances in dentistry. In the end, its just another way he works to improve himself so he can ensure better outcomes for our patients, making a beautiful smile all but guaranteed at every visit.
While undergoing orthodontic treatment in high school, Dr. Davey experienced a traumatic sports injury that almost cost him his two front teeth in fact, the orthodontic wire was the only thing keeping them in his mouth! The accident happened at 9:00pm, but his orthodontist was kind enough to come into the office and put his teeth back into their proper place. That experience solidified his desire to become a dentist and help others in the very same way.
Dr. Davey was born in Plattsburgh, NY and attended AuSable Valley Central School and St. Lawrence University. From there, he received his DMD from the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine. He also achieved his Doctor of Philosophy in Oral Biology at Boston University and completed 30 months of residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Boston Medical Center. This training involved a large number of complex and difficult cases and expanded his skills in advanced anesthesia, wisdom teeth removal, implant surgery, and more.
After serving as a faculty member at the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Davey founded this private in 2010. He regularly pursues continuing education courses for himself through Spear Education and for his team through Spear Practice Solutions so that everyone stays at the top of their game for the sake of the patients.
And, if you have a missing tooth or a few in a row, two of these crowns can be used to form a bridge and replace them. One crown will be placed on the teeth on either side of the open space, and these will be used to support prosthetic teeth that literally bridge the gap and complete your smile.
If a tooth develops a small cavity, we can usually repair it using a filling. At our practice, we prefer to use composite fillings as opposed to traditional amalgam for a few key reasons. One, the composite is better able to mimic the natural look of a tooth as it can be specially shaded to match a patients tooth color. Also, it forms a direct bond with the enamel, which is something amalgam cannot do. This allows Dr. Davey to preserve more of your natural dental structure when placing it, which will help your tooth better maintain its strength over time.
To get a filling, Dr. Davey will first remove any decayed portion of your tooth, apply the composite to fill in the space, and then harden the material with a special light. After that, youre done! Because the material is metal-free, it wont make your teeth more sensitive to temperature extremes, and its also ideal for patients with metal allergies.
When a patient is dealing with multiple missing teeth, dentures can provide a relatively quick, affordable, and realistic-looking restoration. They can be used to replace numerous teeth located around the mouth as well as an entire row. Today, modern-day dentures consist of a realistic-looking gum-colored based attached to ceramic teeth and are smaller and more comfortable than ever.
If a patient is missing multiple teeth that cannot be replaced with a bridge or dental implants, then a removable partial denture may be the best solution. This will be designed to replace the missing teeth while fitting in with the remaining ones seamlessly, much like the missing piece of a puzzle. For patients who need a replacement for all of their teeth on the upper and/or lower jaw, we can use what is called a full denture, which is a complete row of teeth that simply sits directly on the gums to restore the smile.

Had a last minute crown issue while my dentist was away on vacation. I called, an appt was made same day, office was clean & all the staff were professional, kind, patient & eager to help! The Dr was super nice & made me feel 100% comfortable with my appointment! Couldn't be more pleased & thankful.

Competent enough dentist but spent a lot of time talking to some other guy outside the room while I sat in the chair and waited. And waited. And waited. Also recommended a procedure that cost $1500, so I got a second opinion and that dentist said I was definitely not a candidate for that procedure and that in his opinion, $1500 was high for that procedure. X-rays would show whether I needed it or not but Davey's office will not return the other dentist's calls in order to transfer the x-rays. Make of that what you will.

I've never been a patient but called today to check if they could take a patient for an emergency. The woman on the phone said she would check and call me back. She waited almost four hours until after they and every other office in Plattsburgh was closed to call me back and inform me that they didn't have anything open until April (it's January 10th). 0/10 would not consider again

10/5 Stars. Dr. Davey's team are professional, compassionate and extremely helpful. They take every step possible to make sure you are well taken care of! Reminder texts of visits, scheduling over the phone, and if necessary, taking the extra time during your visit to make sure you are fully comfortable with the next step in your care. This marks my third visit in two months, due to dental complications. I have experienced bad dentists- Dr. Davey isn't one. He speaks plainly yet has a gentle bedside manner, and makes you feel well cared for.

I was very impressed with the atmosphere especially being in the middle of a pandemic. They were extremely thorough bringing me into the building all while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere. Jill was my hygienist and I have to say that was one of the best exam in cleanings I have ever had. She has a very light touch but is very thorough when cleaning. One of the things I like the most was her knowledge she portrayed and giving me information all throughout the exam. Everyone during this pandemic has been uneasy about going to public places especially myself having a pre-existing condition. I feel very confident in recommending this office and staff to get all your dental needs addressed. So if you are looking for a professional practice that follows protocol but also allows an atmosphere that is a pleasure to go into....... Then do not hesitate to schedule an appointment!

He is a competent dentist. However, he grossly overcharged me for cleanings and recommends too many cleanings (every 3 mos). I am not going back to him for this reason. I feel that he is more interested in money than in serving his patients.
