Dr. Michael C. Hattaway graduated from Sanford Central in 1970 where he played football under Coach Paul Gay and was a member of the 1968 championship team. Dr. Hattaway went to undergraduate school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received a BA degree in Zoology in 1974. He began practicing dentistry in 1981 after receiving his DDS from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill in 1980. He is also a graduate of the Peter Dawson Occlusion Curriculum in St. Petersburg Florida. He is a member of the Lee County Dental Society and the American Dental Association. He is also a member of the North Carolina Dental Society where he served as President of the Fourth District from 2004 to 2005. Dr. Hattaway is an avid Tar Heel fan and a member of the Ram Club. He is also an exercise nut and has been actively running as a form of exercise since 1974. His lifelong passion is playing golf. His brother handed him his first golf club at the young age of eight and the passion took effect immediately. Dr. Hattaway also loves to read novels and especially likes James Patterson. He has a large collection of James Patterson books. Dr. Hattaway chose dentistry as his profession because he knew in his heart from the early age of six that he was chosen by God to help people. Dr. Hattaway fully believes in treating his patients with the utmost respect and delivering the care that he would want delivered to himself if he was the patient. I am so happy with Dr. Hattaway and everyone I have seen in his office. I always feel that he had my best financial and health interests in mind when making recommendations. He is the only dentist I have seen in 62 years that I do not question his motivation when he recommends that work be done. Better yet, everyone is always pleasant and helpful. Almost makes me look forward to going to the dentist.

I recently went to Dr. Hattaway. I usually have such a terrible fear and suffer with extreme anxiety. Everyone at the office was understanding and extremely helpful. My teeth are doing much better and I am so grateful. More work to do and I am so happy that Dr. Hattaway will be doing it.

Dr. Hattaway has been my dentist since I was a little girl, and now he and his staff are taking care of my children's teeth. We usually seen Rhonda and absolutely love her. She's very good with my son and makes sure he understands how important oral hygiene is and will properly show him how to brush areas if he is missing them. Dr. Hattaway is phenomenal and is very detailed with his care. He also stresses the importance of oral hygiene and even has stories for the kids so they can relate. He not only takes care of their teeth but he builds a relationship so they trust him and like coming to see him. My three year old will have her 1st appt soon and I'm not worried at all about her care. I wouldn't want anyone else to do their cleanings and maintenance! We love the office and staff and highly recommend them to anyone looking!
