Listed as one of Arizona's top dentists by Consumer's Research Counsel of America, Dr. Mel Dixon has over 20 years of clinical and technical expertise. He was born in Washington D.C. while his father , Dr. Dixon Sr., attended dental school. Upon graduation they returned to Tucson where he grew up. From there Dr. Mel Dixon received his Doctor of Dental Surgerydegreefrom Howard University College of Dentistry. He completed a general practice residency at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University at Harlem Hospital Center in New York City. There he received extensive training in oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, periodontics, orthodontics, pediatric, and cosmetic dentistry. He has since completed many advanced continuing education programs and is quite diversified in the field of dentistry. Dr. Dixon was a Major in the United States Air Force Reserves and served in Operation Desert Storm.He and his team take pride in creating beautiful, healthy, and natural looking smiles. Their gentle approach to dental wellness makes patients feel relaxed and comfortable. Dr. Dixon takes special pride in his team. They emphasize comprehensive preventative dentistry.
Dr. Dixon is a certified Lumineers Dentist. The many testimonials provided by his patients bare witness to the wonderful nature of the service he and his team provide. Volunteering extensively throughout his career, Dr. Dixon just recently returned from Guatemala with the St. Michael's Project, and is now a participating Dentist in the Smile Trainvolunteer program.Dr. Dixon alsotreats children in the Tucson Unified School District'sGreyline Program, a local program designed to help school age children get back to dental health who otherwise could not afford to do so.He is on the Advisory Board of Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Most recently he was awarded the 2013 Arizona Vanguard Award, a recognition of his outstanding and unwavering community service in health and wellness.Dr. Dixon is an active member of the American Dental Association, Arizona Dental Association, Southern Arizona Dental Society, and Tucson CosmeticDentalStudy Club.
Jennifer is Dr. Dixon's Office Manager. She has been at Speedway Dental since August 2004. Patient education plays a large role in her daily interactions with patients. Jennifer loves all the hands on treatment theoffice has to offer, ranging from fillings to cosmetics. She strives to give every individual personal oneon one treatment coordination.

We work together to give you, the patient, personalized attention. This means whatever our patients individual needs are, we are there for them, from check in to check out.'
Upon completing her dental assistant training at Pima Community College, Jenn worked for general dentists, prosthodontists, as well as the Dental Clinic at Davis Monthan AirForce Base before joining Dr. Dixon's team first as Dr Dixon's lead assistant and later office manager. Jennifer graduated top of her class at Pima and has certifications in Arizona Radiation Health and Safety, and CPR for the professionalindividual. She enjoys the diversity of her position and being able to help the patient either during treatment or after.
Three beautiful children enrich Jen's life. She is a dedicated wife and mother. Her extracurricular activities include camping, boating, and traveling, although spending time with her family is her favorite. Jennifer is also into music and hiking. She looks forward to meeting with you.
Viridiana Ruiz joined us in 2011. She graduated from the Dental Assisting Program at Pima Community College in May 2010. She loves to spend time with her family, as well as visit the family ranch during the weekends. Viri enjoys working at Dr. Dixon 's office so much. 'I feel so fortunate to be part of this wonderful family. During my recent time here I 've felt a great bonding with patients, which lets me feelas though they are part of my family.' Her future goals are to become a Dental Technicion, and to help other people have a beautiful smile.
Barbara has been an active part of the dental field for over 12 years.She started as a dental assistant where she quickly became passionate about dentistry.Her passion inspired her to further her education by becoming a Dental Hygienist.Her goals are to improve the patients experience, exceed their expectations, and build lasting relationships.
