Dr. Scott Meester was born in Long Beach, California. He spent most of his childhood and teenage years growing up in Southern California. He attended undergraduate school at the University of Southern California (USC) where he received his bachelor degree in Kinesiology. He then pursued his education in dentistry at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry (UOP) San Francisco. After graduating with highest honors from U.O.P., Dr. Meester worked in associate dentist positions for approximately 5 years after which time he joined his dental school classmate Dr. Mel Olafsen, and together they opened their first office in the Ocean Beach area of San Diego in 1992. After 5 years of practicing together, they expanded their business to a second location in the Sierra Mesa area. Today Scott and Mel continue to offer their warm, energetic, friendly dental care to the residence of San Diego in both convenient locations.

On a more personal note, Dr. Meester resides in the Tierra Santa area of San Diego with his wife of 16 years, Marta. When not working as a dentist and creating beautiful smiles, Dr. Meester enjoys scuba diving, training in the martial art of Aikido where he holds a second degree black belt, and lots of golf. His second passion however, is that of an artist. His office motto ' A beautiful smile deserves an artistic touch' demonstrates how art inspires his dentistry. While Dr. Meester enjoys the challenges of dentistry, he longed to further develop his artistic skills. In 1996, he turned to painting as a way to release stress, and discovered he had an affinity working with acrylics. Since then, he spends his evenings and weekends fine-tuning his skills. He has always been fascinated by the ocean environment and astronomy, and incorporates both in his paintings. Using unique canvas dimensions, and special painting techniques, he creates beautiful works of art designed to soothe and inspire. He received such a positive response to the pieces displayed throughout his offices, he decided to pursue his hobby professionally and his works are now featured in art galleries in Maui, Hawaii.

Dr. Olafsen was born in Torrance, California. He spent his childhood and teenage years growing up in Corona, California. He attended Loma Linda University, where he received his bachelor degree in Health Science. He then pursued his education in dentistry at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco.

After graduating from dental school in 1988, Dr. Olafsen worked in associate positions for four years. In 1992, Dr. Olafsen joined his dental school classmate, Dr. Scott Meester, and opened his first office in the Ocean Beach area of San Diego. After four years of practicing together, they expanded their unique comfortable care approach to all phases of dentistry, to a second office in the Sierra Mesa area of San Diego. Today Mel and Scott continue to offer their warm, energetic, friendly, dental care to the residents of San Diego in both convenient locations.

On a more personal note, Mel resides in the Tierrasanta area with his wife Shelli. When they are both not working, they enjoy spending time with their four adult children, playing golf and going hiking.
