His treatment approach is to use the least invasive interventions necessary to do the job. He will avoid doing a full bridge if a single implant will do. He will avoid veneers if chemical bleaching will do. Dr. Folan 's patients are assured that all treatment plans have the patient 's long-term health as the only concern because Dr. Folan takes seriously the principle 'first do no harm.' For this reason, he does not perform 'cosmetic dentistry' that compromises healthy teeth unnecessarily.
Dr. Folan is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry. He is also committed to philanthropic service. He is President of the board of the Coastal Children 's Advocacy Center, is active in his Rotary Club, and is a member of the Emerging Leaders Committee of the Savannah Community Foundation. His volunteer dental initiatives, described in the 'Giving Back' section, include outreach to Savannah 's homeless population and a service mission to Central America.
A graduate of both the University of Georgia (Athens) and the Medical College of Georgias School of Dentistry (Augusta), Dr. Folan enjoys Savannahs beautiful beaches, makes a mean pot of chili, and enjoys the occasional round of golf.
We are located at 210 East Hall Street in the heart of historic downtown Savannah. Our office regularly attracts photo-snapping tourists who are drawn to the beauty of both the lovely Victorian mansion and especially to its spectacular garden which features what is reputed to be the largest live oak tree in Savannah.
The old world charm carries through to the interior design. A working fireplace, hardwood floors, comfortable antique furnishings, and elegant Persian rugs make our waiting room feel less like a dentist's office and more like a tasteful friend's home.
A tasteful friend with a sense of humor, too. The restroom is decorated floor to ceiling with Elvis memorabilia so don 't be alarmed if you hear a voice behind you - it 's just the life-sized cardboard Elvis saying, 'Thank you, thank you very much.' Do not be disturbed either by the collection of antique dental instruments. They are for decorative purposes only! But if you would like to say a quick prayer of thanksgiving that dentistry has progressed so much in the past hundred years, we won 't mind.
Dr. Folan 's professional memberships include the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association/ Southeastern District, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
