Dr. Matthew Slaven, is a periodontist and implant dentist in St. Louis Ballwin suburb, and founder of ActOn Implants. Dr. Slaven came to the St. Louis area from his home state of Indiana in the mid-1990s to complete his undergraduate studies at Washington University.
After graduating from Washington University in St. Louis in 1998, he attended the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, where in addition to his clinical work, Dr. Slaven conducted research utilizing growth factors to promote bone formation.
He went on to graduate from Indiana University, earning his M.S.D. and a certificate in periodontics. His masters thesis was a comprehensive survey of over 1,000 dental implants placed by the graduate periodontics department since 1990.
Dr. Slavens research during his graduate work uncovered his true passion for regenerative procedures and dental implants, a focus area he has held since the early 2000s. This knowledge and passion led to the founding of ActOn Implants in 2011, where he currently serves as the implant dentist for St. Louis area patients. Dr. Slaven also owns and operatesActOn Dentistry, a general dentistry practice with offices in Ballwin, Missouri (on Manchester Road) and Wenztville, Missouri in Western St. Charles County. He is a licensed periodontist, and certified by the American Board of Periodontology. He is a member of the Missouri Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Greater St. Louis Dental Society.
Because of MS, I was faced with bone loss that required getting dentures. It was a hard pill to swallow. I went to my original dentist and he told me that my expectations were too high and that fake teeth would never feel right. I was so upset. Thankfully, I met Dr. Slaven and his team. He provided me with implants and overdentures. He was caring and professional. He exceeded my expectations. I now have a solid, tight fit. My new teeth feel natural. Dr .Slaven is always in a hurry and doesn't take the proper time. He placed the denture incorrectly very quickly. As result, the denture was cracked. Dr. Slaven is not cooperative and doesn't honer his work.

Dr. Slaven offers the highest quality of expertise and service. He answers all my questions and offers explanations of each process as he does his work. The office houses state of the art equipment and the staff is kind and helpful. I highly recommend this practice.

I had my first visit to Dr. Slaven's office om February 5. 2020. My orinal plan is to try and see, now I'm decided to transfer to this office. The reasons are: 1) Dr. Slaven is a good communicator, explained to me what my current situation is after evaluation, with clearance and patient (I care about this most). 2) He outlined my treatment plan and disused it with in accordance with my availability and affordability. 3) He graduated from prestigious university (Washi U) and was trained from prestigious dentist program (UMich), technically should be good. I just had a general exam, that was not enough for me to give a fair comment yet. Will come back to comment on his operations on teeth removal/crowning/bridging/implantation (I'll do all of them in a year). Stay tune.

Dr. Slave is an excellent implant dentist. He put six implants in my bottom jaw. They are still good for 2 years and hopefully will be going good for long time. I compare to some dental clinics that I have been around Saint Louis, Missouri. He is the best, that why I gave him 5 stars. I suggest to see him for your implant in future and you will see he charge lower than others and he perform the best quality

He is the only dentist that has ever really told me the cause of my decaying teeth which I thought they were going to have to be extracted! He is able to save them all except one! And at a reasonable price. I will be recommending him to everyone!

I was able to be worked in on short notice for a broken crown. I was presented, in detail, with 2 options, and I asked about 2 of my own. Dr. Slaven took his time, did not rush me, and then discuss the options I was wondering about. Staff was friendly and helpful. I will be back!

Dr Slaven is committed to saving all my teeth & isn't trying to get me into dentures like other perios/dentists. He gives me nitrous oxide for painful work. His dental hygienists are skilled & kind. They're very tolerant of what a baby I am while getting my teeth cleaned.
