Dr. Tallis was born in Wales, and lived briefly in both England and Canada before moving to Louisiana when he was nine years old. He grew up on the north shore of Lake Ponchatrain, in the Mandeville-Covington area, and graduated from St. Paul's High School. While attending LSU in Baton Rouge, he met his future wife, Alice Taylor of Natchitoches, Louisiana. After graduating from the LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans, Dr. Tallis completed a two-year general practice residency at Charity Hospital. He has been in private practice in Baton Rouge since 1991.
Dr. Tallis and his wife have two children, Geoffrey and Audrey. Away from the office, he enjoys gardening, photography, and home improvement projects. Ten years of LSU education means that supporting the Tigers is also a priority. He is a member of the American Dental Association and the Louisiana Dental Association.

I have had A LOT of dental work done in this office and, while I wish it did not have to be done, I could not be happier with how it was done. Dr. Tallis has a very conservative approach to dental care and he always tries his best to save the original tooth. When I was new in town in 2002, Dr. Tallis' practice was recommended to me by a friend who appreciated Dr. Tallis' soft touch and I must say I have always been very comfortable during all treatments. Dr. Tallis also went to battle with the insurance company - with positive results - when I needed a night guard to keep me from grinding (and potentially cracking) my teeth. It is a small practice, but except for the more complicated root canals and surgery, most of my and my husband's dental needs have been taken care of here. Thank you Dr. Tallis, Rita, and Kim!

My family and I have been going to Dr. Tallis for over 13 years. Dr. Tallis and his staff have always been 100% professional and do the best work. He is also very understanding considering that my insurance can be very difficult to deal with at times, he has never turned me or my family down and continues to give us top notch treatment no matter what. We also travel over 30 min to go see him even though there are several dentists within 5 minutes of my home because I just dont think I could trust any one more than him with our dental work. Dr. Tallis is the best dentist in the GBR Area and I completely reccomend him for all your dentistry needs.

I want all of Baton Rouge to know that Dr Mark Tallis and his staff have been the best dental professionals I've ever been treated by !! I have had my cleanings every six months without a delay do to his staff being on top of their patients dental needs. I've had some very challenging dental procedures with crowns, root canals and even bridge work done. It's all been done immaculate, an best of all pain free !! I would highly recommend Dr Mark Tallis for all your family's dental needs from young to senior everyone gets the same great treatment

I have been seeing Dr. Tallis for over 10 years. He has always been professional and courteous. His office staff is very friendly. I like going to him because He takes the time to care for his patients from dental cleanings as well as dental work needed. He has come to work out of normal business hours when I have had a dental emergency.

Dr Tallis has always been Professional, family oriented and always shown that he truly cares for your dental health, I have been going to his office for over 15 years and not once has there ever been a problem from the staff to the billing, he has the finest staff that i know and always willing to help, I was never a fan of going to the dentist until i went to Dr Tallis, he made it easier, I will continue to recommend him.

Dr. Tallis has provided dental care for my wife and I for about four and one-half years. During that time, he provided routine periodic exams, and performed crown, restorative, and whitening procedures. Costs and procedures were reasonable and always clearly explained in advance. My wife and I are patients of Dr. Mark Tallis. He and his staff have been tending to our dental needs for over fifteen years. We have always found him to be friendly and able to relieve any anxiety we might be experiencing. When the dentist my parents used for many years was no longer in practice, on our advice, they began seeing Dr. Tallis as well. We appreciate Dr. Tallis' thoroughness and professionalism. Dr. Tallis recognized, early on, the problem with a tooth that had been causing my mother a bit of discomfort. It was his recognition of the seriousness of her condition and his subsequent referral that led to her receiving the surgery and intense treatment she needed for the cancer that had begun in her jaw. It would not be an over statement to say that this early recognition and referral loomed large in saving her life. I started seeing Dr Tallis when I moved to the area over 12 years ago. I live in Gonzales and at the time there weren't many dentists near me. Today I still live in Gonzales and there are MULTIPLE dentists within a 10 mile radius of my house, one actually across the street, and me and my entire family drive all the way across town to see DR Tallis. He has seen my kids since they first had teeth and all four of my kids love him and the staff! They always make sure we get our cleanings done on time and we never have a peoblem getting an appointment when we need one! They never over book and we hardly spend any time sitting in the waiting area. I have referred multiple people to Dr Tallis that also drive all the way across town because they are just that good!!!

Dr. Tallis and his staff excell in providing the best dental care in Baton Rouge. I have been going to Dr. Tallis for many years. I do not know of another dentist who takes the time to do the cleanings not just the oral examinations. His hands on approach makes me more than just another number or dollar sign. He is very aware of any discomfort that may be occurring during a procedure and will stop to ask if you are alright if he believes that you are in any pain. In the past I have recommended him to my family and friends. I will continue to recommend Dr. Tallis' dental practice to anyone seeking the highest level care available in the Baton Rouge area.
