Dr. Marilia Paiva Tate is a Hoover High School graduate. She graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with degrees in Biology (B.S.) and Spanish (B.A.). She received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry.
While attending Dental School, Dr. Tate became the first president and founder member of the Hispanic Dental Association Student Chapter. Dr. Tate is a member of the American Dental Association, the Alabama Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Alabama Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Tate lives in the Hoover area and enjoys spending time with her family, her husband Kevin, and their chocolate labrador named Luna. They are members at Shades Mountain Baptist Church and are actively involved in the community.
Dr. Tate was so patient and her staff was so caring and considerate. I always had anxiety about getting dental work before I started going to Dr. Stephens almost 20 years ago, but Dr. Tate was so efficient and I was on my way in less than 45 minutes. Dr Tate is so gentle. I had dental work done yesterday which I was dreading but not once did I feel any pain during or after procedure. Great dentist!!!!

Maggie is GREAT ! I've been coming to Dr.Tate for a while now & Maggie has been the best Dental Hygienist I've had by far! I highly recommend this place over anyone else! The staff is always friendly & very helpful.

Maggie is GREAT ! I've been coming to Dr.Tate for a while now & Maggie has been the best Dental Hygienist I've had by far! I highly recommend this place over anyone else! The staff is always friendly & very helpful.

I have been here in the past and am now returning. Dr. Stephens no longer owns this business. I would like to add that I've been to many other dentists, endodontists and oral surgeons. Unfortunately I've been traumatized by several of those. That's why I'm so happy to be seeing Dr. Tate now. I'm actually excited to go! She puts me at ease and I absolutely adore her and her staff.

I was referred by a co-worker and his wife, who had been using Dr. Stephens for quite a while. I have been to A LOT of dentists, endodontists, orthodontists... the list goes on... this is the only facility I have ever been in that was in any way comfortable. Walking in feels more like a spa-like atmosphere. When I signed in the assistant told me they would be right with me... usually this means about 30 to 45 minutes. Literally 30 seconds later the hygenist walked out and called my name. Needless to say I was surprised. They have all the latest technology - you can see what they're doing on a TV screen in front of you. But most of all, they were SO GREAT! Everyone there is super nice, and they tell you what you NEED to have done rather than trying to charge you for stuff that can wait. It was like finding a reliable local auto mechanic. I highly recomment Dr. Stephens.
