Dr. Steven J. Butler, DDS is now the senior partner in The Oral Surgery Group. He completed his undergraduate studies at Indiana University and graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1984. Dr. Butler graduated as Valedictorian of his dental school class and received multiple awards for clinical and professional endeavors while there. He started his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Sinai Hospital of Detroit and joined The Oral Surgery Group in 1988. He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is a Fellow of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Butler has served on the Dental Advisory Board of Physicians Health Plan. He has been an active member of the Isaac Knapp Dental Society and served on the Surgical Committees of several local hospitals.

He currently lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with his wife and two Labrador Retrievers. Dr. Butler has two adult children and enjoys time with his young grandchild. Dr. Butler has had a long interest in music and was a founding member of the American Academy of Childrens Entertainment. Additionally, he has produced three recordings of original childrens music that have been featured in Billboard Magazine and other publications. His video production of Musical Family Fun with Dr. Steve Butler Live has been featured on the learning channel and was made a fundraiser for families of grieving children. Dr. Butler enjoys restoring antique automobiles and boats, as well as continuing his musical endeavors.

Dr. Michael J. Stronczek, DDS, MS joined Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Associates in 1992. Born and raised in Fort Wayne, Dr. Stronczek graduated as valedictorian from Bishop Luers High School in 1979. He attended the University of Notre Dame graduating with honors in 1983. After graduation, Dr. Stronczek then did a missionary year with the Holy Cross Associates in Portland, Oregon, teaching second grade in an inner-city school and working with the indigent population in Portland.

Dr. Stronczek began his dental career in 1984 at Indiana University. Energized by the surgical side of dentistry, he was accepted to The Ohio State University Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Program in 1988. While at Ohio State, Dr. Stronczek completed a Masters Degree in Science and completed a research project on dental implants specifically placed in radiated bone.

Dr. Stronczek became a Diplomate of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) in 1994. He has also been inducted into the American and International Colleges of Dentists. Dr. Stronczek has served on the AAOMS Committee of Anesthesia for 8 years and received the Committee Person of the Year award during his service as chairman of this committee. He has served a 2-year term as a board member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesia. Subsequently, he served on the Claims Committee for OMSNIC, the malpractice insurance company for oral surgery specialists, and began his tenure as a board member of this company in 2010. Dr. Stronczek is passionate about oral surgery and education. He is presently the director of the Fort Study Club, a local group of dentists committed to providing the best comprehensive dentistry possible while remaining on the cutting edge of technology and patient care. Dr. Stronczek is also a member of the Kids First Craniofacial Team in Fort Wayne working directly with children born with oral and facial defects.

When not practicing oral surgery, Dr. Stronczek is a proud father of 4 children and 1 granddaughter. He has been married to his wife, Kathi, for 27 years and looks forward to more grandchildren in the future. Its a great life.

Dr. Steven R. Schimmele, DDS, FACS is a Fort Wayne native and was schooled at St. Vincent DePaul grade school and Bishop Dwenger High School. His family has long roots in the Fort Wayne area, he is proud of his home community, and he and his wife, Heather, feel blessed to be a part of Fort Wayne. Dentistry runs deep in the family as Heather is a certified dental assistant. There is also another dentist, dental hygienist, dental lab technician and dental student in the immediate family!

Dr. Schimmele attended both Indiana University, Bloomington and IPFW for undergraduate education. He was accepted to the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1988 and subsequently graduated in 1992. He graduated with honors (top 10%of his class) and was honored with multiple awards including the Johnson Public Health Dentistry Scholarship, Pierre Fauchard Academy Certificate of Merit, Indiana Dental Association special honor award for leadership in Dentistry, and the Glenn J Pell Memorial Scholarship for Undergraduate Oral Surgery to name a few. After graduation he attended the University of Cincinnati for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency where he was trained in all aspects of medicine and surgery. During residency, Dr. Schimmele studied many aspects of health care in depth including adult and pediatric anesthesia, emergency medicine, general surgery, family medicine and plastic surgery.

After residency Dr. Schimmele had the honor of serving as the Fellow in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, Center for Tumor and Reconstructive Surgery under the direction of Dr. Robert E Marx and Dr. Eric R Carlson, two well known leaders in the field. During his tenure as Fellow he was immersed in the concepts and practice of treating benign and malignant pathology of the maxillofacial complex along with the reconstruction of complicated bone and soft tissue defects of the region. It was during his fellowship that he became trained in advanced procedures for some of the most difficult anatomic problems involving the face and jaws. He is happy to bring those skills to the region to provide the most advanced care to our residents.

Science and academic progress have always been an interest to Dr. Schimmele as he has lectured across the country to various groups, Universities and associations. He has been published as author or co-author in seven different peer reviewed journals and was a peer reviewer for the journal Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology. Dr. Schimmele most recently became one of the first Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in Indiana to be admitted to the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Schimmele has been professionally active in multiple local, state and national organizations. He has been involved on committees at all the local hospitals helping these organizations provide the best care possible to the community. He has held various positions in dental societies including the Isaak Knaap District Dental Society, The Indiana Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Indiana component of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and the Indiana Dental Association. Nationally he has been a board member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and a member of the Committee on Anesthesia for the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. His most rewarding position was helping direct an annual simulation course for the AAOMS teaching emergency response techniques for anesthetic emergencies.

Service to the community is considered natural to the Schimmeles. Both Steve and Heather are very active in the community and regularly volunteer their time for various local charities. Board and committee positions at St Elizabeth Catholic grade school, Bishop Dwenger High School, the Fort Wayne South Bend Diocese, the Fort Wayne Childrens Zoo, the Carriage House and Matthew 25 have been some of their favorite experiences. All these organizations help to make our community better by supporting its people in a number of ways.

Dr. Schimmele has an avid interest in cars, and loves to exercise particularly by riding his bike. He is an avid music listener with 80s music being the favorite. The Schimmeles love to travel, watch movies, golf and spend nights at home together. They are extremely proud of their children Morgan, Masie, Drew, Marinn and Parker.

Dr. J. Terrence ONeill, DDS has been providing quality oral surgical care with OMSA in the Fort Wayne area since 2011. He is a graduate of Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Indiana. Dr. ONeill attended Indiana State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science magna cum laude. He then completed dental school at Indiana University graduating summa cum laude. While in dental school, Dr. ONeill received many awards including the Glenn J. Pell Award for outstanding achievement in oral surgery and the Dentsply International Student Clinician Award for top honors in dental research. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), the Isaac Knapp District Dental Society (IKDDS), Kids First Cleft Team, and Lutheran Hospital Medical Executive Committee.

Dr. ONeill completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency training at The Indiana University Medical Center, a major referral site for patients throughout Indiana and surrounding states. He has extensive training to perform a broad scope of procedures; such as, dental implant placement, hard and soft tissue grafting, facial trauma, TMJ, dentoalveolar, and orthognathic surgery. He has also received extensive and specialized training in anesthesia at Wishard and Riley Childrens Hospitals, which allows him to provide state-of-the-art anesthesia for patients of all ages.

Dr. ONeill works hard to provide the newest techniques and best possible care for his patients. He devotes many hours toward continued training at premier courses throughout the United States. Dr. ONeill has completed the curriculum at the Pikos and Sclar Centers- two nationally acclaimed programs which teach the latest techniques in comprehensive implant reconstruction. Dr. ONeill has also received extensive training from the Arnett Center for Orthognathic Surgery. With this training, Dr. ONeill utilizes the latest technologies and techniques for the treatment of face, airway, and bite abnormalities. Most recently, Dr. ONeill has started the training program at the Kois center known for interdisciplinary care, where he will work with a team of dentists of all specialties to treat patients with particularly complex problems.

Dr. ONeills special interests include CT scan guided implant placement, hard and soft tissue grafting to optimize implant placement sites for esthetics and function, and CT guided jaw repositioning (orthognathic) surgery.

Dr. ONeill is happily married to his wife Andrea. They are the proud parents of two sons, James and Andrew, who keep them busy with after school sports and activities. Dr. ONeill enjoys traveling, fishing, golfing, and spending time with family.
