Well, I did it. After many years of building my family and putting my career second, I finally took the plunge into practice ownership. I feel lucky to have discovered and settled in Poulsbo, amongst a generous, caring community and gorgeous landscape. Most of the time you can see me hustling around town, chauffeuring my kids from one activity to the next, or at home with my hands in the dirt continually learning how to manage a garden. My love of yoga, cooking and all things DIY keep me sane in the madness that is being a fulltime working mother of three. At this point in my life, however, I wouldnt have it any other way.
When you feel unhappy with the appearance or function of your smile, your perceived self-image has negative effects on your self-esteem. Bringing health and beauty to people who have experienced such pain is my greatest passion. I help my patients, who include children, teens and adults, achieve their oral health goals to ensure you have a smile you can be proud of.
One treatment modality is not right for everyone. By educating my patients and taking time to learn where their values lie, we collaborate to come up with individualized treatment plans. My ultimate goal is to provide the most conservative dentistry available, helping to preserve the natural tooth as long as possible, while fulfilling my patients needs. With advanced training in the Bioclear Method I am well equipped to offer esthetic and general dentistry with minimally invasive techniques.
My formal education started and ended at the University of Washington, earning both my Bachelors of Science degree in Biology and my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Through the Spear Study Club and numerous Continuing Education courses, I exceed the annual requirements for my profession. I am affiliated with the American Dental Association, Washington State Dental Association and the Kitsap County Dental Association. I am the General Supervising Dentist for the local non-profit organization Best Dental Help, which is a school- based preventative sealant and fluoride program for preschool and elementary aged children.

When you visit our practice we review many aspects of your health before we clean your tooth surfaces. Things like broken teeth, sensitivity or bleeding gums could all be the beginnings of bigger problems down the road. Once we have finished your exam and your teeth are free of tarter deposits, we use professional-strength polishing paste that gently buffs away stain and microscopic plaque. This helps slow yellowing while maintaining a glassy surface for easier home cleaning.
And of course, regular dental visits prove vital in fixing and preventing decay and gum disease as you keep up your daily home teeth cleaning habits. With a proactive approach, together we can prevent minor issues from becoming major procedures.
It's sometimes easy to ignore, but a little bit of tooth decay always leads to a little bit more. The outcome of these untreated problems inevitably becomes pain, emergency treatment, and tooth loss. I was referred to Dr. Horseman by my wife after they met at the gym. First appointment/first impressions: introductions, history discussion followed by a thorough exam and treatment plan explained. Dr. is reassuring and Joan, Dental Assistant inspired confidence. She (Joan) took the pictures and did the X-rays. Future appointments scheduled. Second visit: Met Liz my new Hygienist! She takes bad bacteria very seriously, she took samples and showed me what we were dealing with. She was thorough! Careful! Professional! Considerate! And, explained every step from mouth rinse to scaling and final flossing. A 90 minute appointment with no pain, no anxiety and follow up care was carefully explained.

Dr. Horschman and her entire staff are FABULOUS!!! I was very nervous switching to a new dentist and all the staff made me feel very much at ease. Dr. Horschtman is extremely professional, kind and took her time with me. We made a treatment plan and I must say I am looking forward to going back. I have never said that before regarding dental care. If you are looking for a dentist that is caring and a wonderful staff, then look no further than West Sound Dental. Liz is a fantastic hygienist! Update Oct 2022 : Have been in many times and same review from below stands. Recent visit with hygienist Liz was excellent. She was super thorough, patient and knowledgeable explaining some specifics, and just terrific to engage with. Grateful for Dr. Lisa and her team. Front of the house is wonderful, too. Always warm and friendly when walking in. Thank you! Dr. Lisa and her whole team are amazing and terrific. We love them. Gentle and kind care. We highly recommend them.

Everyone was great! Doctor Lisa is very skilled and knowledgeable and was also very aware of my unique needs. Joan the Dental Assistant was supportive, attentive, and has a great sense of humor. Front desk Angie was really helpful and has amazing handwriting! Cavities and crowns aren't fun, but this team really made the whole experience a positive one!

Just wanted to thank Dr. Horschman and her staff for the excellent care and treatment plan offered to me as a new patient. I wanted to find a quality Dentist close to my home here in Poulsbo and so glad I came upon her. She had five star reviews on Google from many other patients on their experiences and that is what initially sold me on her. More than any other Dentists I've had in the past she took her time with me addressing my concerns and options. Now I have a quality Dentist so close to home for future treatments! A+++++++
