Dr. Leverett

Elberta, AL 36530

Dr. Leverett began his 'scientific studies' at the tender age of nine. He is the product of two school teachers- his father, a football coach, and his mother a librarian. Both retired after forty years in the public school system. His childhood was deeply steeped in a learning environment. Living in rural Alabama, and being an avid outdoors man, 'Doc had the opportunity to develop a fascination of biology, and the natural sciences in a natural pristine environment.

He converted his bedroom into a laboratory. Chemistry sets, microscopes, a dissection table, physics experiments, and aquariums with various plant and animal life were his toys. He asked that his parents keep containers in their cars in the event a dead animal (intact) could be collected for dissection purposes (his dissection lab was in a outdoor utility building for obvious reasons). He took taxidermy courses to hone his dissection skills.

Dr. Leverett graduated from Mobile Christian High School, having success in both football as well as academics. After being subjected to years of pounding in football, Doc converted his energies into his studies. During his undergraduate years as a part-time job he was a jeweler/goldsmith for Zundel's Jewelry and Lorch's Jewelry in Mobile, Alabama. He graduated from the University of Mobile with a Bachelor's degree in animal biology with a concentration in human anatomy and physiology. He holds minor degrees in chemistry, psychology, and ancient history.

Dr. Leverett then entered the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, where he was held captive for four years. There Doc received his degree of Doctor of Medical Dentistry. Between school terms he was a chemist co-op intern in the analytical and quality control laboratory of Ciba-Geigy in McIntosh, Alabama, and was involved in a research study for 3-M dental Japan. Doc spent his last summer before graduation in the department of Oral Surgery at the dental school.

Upon graduation he was employed as a staff dentist for six and one-half years at the Mobile County Health Department earning his stripes and becoming seasoned in the dental arts. Dr. Leverett entered into private practice in Elberta, Alabama where he has been since 1997.

Dr. Leverett maintains his post graduate studies concentrating in restorative, cosmetic, prosthodontics, oral surgery, and family dentistry. He strives to maintain a comfortable, stress free environment at Elberta Dental. The most important concept in his practice is the patient's comfort.

Outside the dental office, Dr. Leverett enjoys, kayaking, trout fishing, deer and turkey hunting. He is married to the former Michelle Gingras Goecke. Doctor Leverett's daughter attends the University of Alabama. They also have a son attending the University of South Alabama, and a daughter at Foley High School.

Very pleasant first visit. The office was very clean and they took every precaution to prevent COVID spread. I recently moved to Elberta and I'm happy to find such a competent, friendly dental group. The hygienist was awesome, very thorough and pain free. Dr Leverett explained what needed to be done in detail, without rushing me. I recommend them without reservation. Five stars!

I am so happy I just discovered Dr leverett's dental office. His office staff is friendly. They all have a genuine care for their clients. I'm 65 years old and I cannot be fooled easily. Dr Leverett took his time to explain in great detail the work I needed to be done. And he give me plenty of options. You just don't find that anymore. It's a shame you have to go to such a small town like Elberta to find caring and competent dentistry. So I'm telling you if you live in Pensacola or Mobile this is worth the drive. I'm very fortunate that I live in Foley so it's just a short distance.
