Dr. Karkalas Graduated from New York University College of Dentistry in 1996 and received her graduate certificate in Advanced Education in General Dentistry from Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Karkalas has received recognition for her skill in cosmetic dentistry from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry as well as being a past member of the Holistic Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. She is also a current member of the Academy of General Dentistry, and is also the treasurer of the Rhode Island chapter. Dr. Karkalas also belongs to the Seattle Study Club and was also inducted into the Academy of Dentistry International.
Dr. Karkalas has extensive knowledge of general and cosmetic dentistry through consistent continuing education. Also being a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentists she is constantly using the latest techniques available. Dr. Karkalas received her board certification and accreditation in Forensic Dentistry in 2018. She is a member of the ASFO ( American Society of Forensic Odontology ). She is the first Board Certified Forensic Odontologist inRhode Island and works with the Medical Examiner's office.

I had a cracked filling from years ago, and Dr. Karkalas took it out before I knew it, and replaced it with no problem. My regular checkups are fine.

After many years of neglect on my part do to my embarrassment I decided to address my dental issues. A dental technician friend recommended Dr. K and her team. I was greeted on my initial call by David and explained my situation. He put me at ease by noting "this is a non judgement zone". And they truly are. I needed several visits to complete the work that Dr. K had planned for me. She and her wonderful team were professional and friendly providing me with pain free service. Best of all I now have the smile I wish I had many years ago.

When a dentist rates 75 five star reviews out of 80 that is a red flag. This woman is a horrible person first, and dentist, second. She maliciously ruins people's teeth in such a way that you don't realize it until it's too late. Overcharges for poor work, and altogether unprofessional and unskilled. I went in to see her for a broken crown. She told me I needed a root canal first. She recommended her own endodontist and I decided to go with a different, more affordable endodontist. Then the trouble began. After my crown was installed by her, the tooth became infected. I went to another dentist and was told she used temporary glue which caused the seal on the tooth to break and cause infection. This is after another crown she installed did the exact same thing. Beware of this person. She is vindictive, envious, and insecure, not to mention, very expensive, and dangerous. She has a large behind also. If you are thin, she will hate you and make your life unbearable.

Outstanding dentist. Fantastic staff. I've been a patient of Dr. Karkalas for at least 5 years now and have received everything from a simple filling, crown, to a fitted nightguard. She works collaboratively with the top-notch endodontists and periodontists to devise the best treatment plan for your needs. I saw her through the height of the pandemic and was impressed with the measures they took to keep everyone safe and protected. I wouldn't think of seeing anyone else.

Dr. Karkalas is a new dentist for me as of only three weeks ago, and I have been extremely pleased. She is obviously very experienced, competent, and personable. Dentistry is not easy for me due to past bad experiences, but I feel comfortable and at ease with Dr. Karkalas. She appropriately diagnosed my need for a molar root canal for the last tooth under a crown for a fixed bridge, and sent me to a wonderful endodontist, who performed her root canal through the crown. I returned to Dr. Karkalas two days ago to have the tooth permanently closed, and so far all is well. I need to also mention that all of Dr. Karkalas' staff that I have met so far are also wonderful. That includes Paula, Mary, and Dave. Mary went out of her way to get me into the endodontist quickly due to my pain and infection. I highly recommend Dr. Karkalas.
