Dr. Joaquin Sanchez is an El Paso native. He attended the University of Texas at El Paso for his undergraduate studies and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked in the Automotive Industry for 9 years as an engineer. After volunteering at a Texas Mission of Mercy event here in El Paso, he decided to change careers.
Dr. Sanchez earned his dental degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. He worked as an associate in private practice for three years before opening his own practice. Dr. Sanchez enjoys giving back to the community and works at a childrens clinic for the underserved population one day a week. On some weekends, he aids in completing exams and treatment on military personnel who are getting ready for deployment. Dr. Sanchez is very dedicated to providing the highest level of care for his patients and constantly strives, through continuing education, to become the best he can be.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, and the El Paso District Dental Society. In his spare time, Dr. Sanchez enjoys golf, outdoor activities, and spending time with his family.
Dr. Gabriela Rey is an El Paso native. She attended the University of Texas at El Paso for her undergraduate studies and graduated Magna cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Dr. Rey earned her dental degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio.
During dental school she participated in numerous mission trips to Mexico and Guatemala, providing dental care to underserved populations. Dr. Rey has worked in both public health settings and in private practice. Dr. Rey is committed to providing the highest quality of care to her patients and completes several hours of post graduate dental education every year in the many disciplines of dentistry. She has a special interest in Pediatric Dentistry and limits her practice to treating children. She believes in educating parents on preventing tooth decay and creating positive dental experiences for children.
She is a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, and the El Paso District Dental Society. When she is not busy raising her children, she enjoys reading, baking, traveling, photography, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Samantha is our Insurance Coordinator. She joined the team in June 2012 as the front desk receptionist. Since then Samantha has been able to grow and sharpen her dental skills while providing adequate dental benefit information to our patients. Her daily tasks include verifying insurance benefits, speaking to insurance representatives, processing insurance payments, and occasionally filing appeals.
As a dental hygienist, she takes x-rays, performs oral cancer screening, assesses periodontal health, removes tartar and plaque from teeth, applies preventive materials (sealants, fluoride), teaches oral hygiene strategies, and counsels patients about good nutrition.
Anna is originally from a small town in north-east Nebraska. She attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. She later relocated to El Paso and became a hygienist after completing the dental hygiene program at El Paso Community College in 2014. Shortly after, she joined the team at Desert East Family Dentistry. Anna enjoys traveling, playing with her dogs, and spending time with her husband and daughter.
As a dental assistant, Sonia seats the patient in the treatment area, assists the dentist during dental procedures. Sterilizes and prepares instruments, takes impressions of teeth for study models, and takes dental radiographs.
Elizabeth became a Registered Dental Hygienist in 1999 and has been working in private practice for over 20 years. Elizabeth joined our team in August 2015 part-time and has been a great addition in accommodating our patient's dental needs.
