He began his private practice in 1990. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery, Masters of Science in Dentistry and Certificate in Periodontics from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis. He served as a clinical instructor in the Department of Periodontics at the Indiana University School of Dentistry. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, Indiana Dental Association and the Indianapolis District Dental Society.
He was the first periodontist in Indianapolis to be certified to perform laser surgery using the FDA approved Periolase Nd:YAG laser providing a no cutting/no stitching minimally invasive surgical treatment option for patients. As a dedicated clinician with more than two decades of periodontalsurgery and dental implant experience, Dr. VanWinkleoften provides continuing educational seminars to area dentists and hygienist on current topics in periodontal disease treatment and tooth replacement with dental implants. Over the years, Dr. VanWinkle has consistently been named Top Indianapolis Area Periodontist in Indianapolis Monthly magazine by his peers.
He is married to wife, Ellie, and has three children; David, Caitlin, and Caroline. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, tennis, water, and snow skiing. He is an active pilot and frequently travels the country with his family.
Debbie has been practicing dental hygiene since graduating from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1981. She has been a Dental Hygienist for Dr. VanWinkle since May 1993. She also received a Bachelor of Science in 1983 from the Indiana School of Education. Debbie is licensed to administer local anesthesia. Debbie is very knowledgeable about periodontal disease and loves promoting dental health to her patients.
Hannah started at the end of May 2019. She has been practicing dental hygiene since 2016. Before joining Dr. VanWinkles team, she practiced in general dentistry. She enjoys meeting all of our patients while learning about all things periodontics. She is originally from Fort Wayne and graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University in 2012.
Kelly found her passion for periodontics while assisting Dr. VanWinkle in his periodontal residency at the IU School of Dentistry in 1989. In January 1996, she joined his private practice as his sole surgical assistant. She smiles knowing that it now takes herself and 4 other surgical assistants to keep up with Dr. VanWinkle. She attended Ball State University and then obtained her dental assisting and x-ray certification from Professional Careers Institute. Her spare time consists of do it herself home projects and traveling the world
Tracey, her husband and two children live in Brownsburg with their dog. She enjoys spending time with friends and family. She is a very busy dance and football mom. She is always working.Being a native of Wisconsin; she enjoys her Packers and good cheese!!
