Despite being uncomfortable, dry mouth alone is not a severe issue as long as it is not persistent. If it is, it can lead to various long-term health issues, ranging from irritating to dangerous. Someone who suffers from chronic dry mouth will likely experience mouth sores, splits at the corners of the mouth, cracked lips, increased plaque buildup and a greater risk of tooth decay and gum disease. You might even start to have nutrition issues, because the lack of saliva makes it more difficult to break down food when you eat.

Some people might recommend sucking on an ice cube or sugarless hard candy, but this can actually damage your teeth, so dont do it! You can also purchase nonprescription saliva substitutes over the counter to reduce your current issues.
If you use tobacco or drink alcohol, cut back on those or find a way to quit. Even if you dont think smoking or drinking is the root cause, those activities can irritate a dry mouth, so you should limit or stop them entirely. Plus, theyre just bad for you!
The best treatment for dry mouth always depends on the specific cause, so if home remedies or over-the-counter solutions dont prevent your dry mouth, it can indicate a more serious underlying health issue. In serious cases it is best to visit a physician or dentist who can work with you to figure out the root cause of your dry mouth and help you treat it.

Five stars for Dr. Lamborn! I was offered a same day appointment and Dr. Lamborn, kindly and so that I could understand, explained my problem/pain to me. He offered his long term professional opinion but also said he would be able to give me a temporary fix right then. (A new filling.). He took care of it and even gave me some follow up care a week later. His receptionist and dental assistant could not have been nicer. All this for a very fair price. I highly recommend him!

I have been going to Tatum Ranch Dental Care for many years now and while I used to work in the area I've recently retired. I live downtown and am still willing to drive to all the way to have Dr. Lamborn take care of my teeth. I will continue to go to him as long as he's practicing. I don't trust my teeth to anyone else.

Amazing Doctor, he did an excellent job on my teeth and made sure I was comfortable for each visit. His staff is very friendly. Most of the receptionists are too. I love how my teeth look now and I think I found my dentist for as long as I live in AZ.

Dr. Lamborn has been my dentist for some time now and is one of the best I have known since my first dentist. Keith keeps improving his techniques, equipment, and skills and since I am a nervous patient is very gentle. Because of his care for my teeth and overall dental health I do very well with him. When I needed to go to a periodontitis that Dr. told me that I had good teeth and that whoever was doing my work was doing a great job! I guess there is no better recommendation than that for me.
