Dr. Mullaney is a high-energy and intensely focused professional with a passion and enthusiasm for dentistry that, in turn, inspires a total commitment of service excellence for her patients. She continually refines her skills in dental treatment and techniques and has completed advanced training in cosmetic dentistry and full mouth reconstruction. Dr. Mullaney regularly devotes many hours, outside the office, in studying cutting-edge techniques and implementing the very latest technology available for patient care.

Dr. Mullaney has been awarded the prestigious Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD). A general dentist who is an FAGD has been recognized as a leader and example to other dentists of the importance of quality continuing education for dental care. Dr. Mullaney accomplished over 500 hours of continuing dental education and successfully completed a comprehensive 400-question examination!

Dr. Mullaney attended numerous graduate-level courses at the Dawson Center for Advanced Study, a prestigious institute, encompassing comprehensive course work to integrate occlusal (bite) knowledge with the latest techniques in cosmetic dentistry. She also completed many advanced level courses through the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, with hands-on instruction from some of the pre-eminent cosmetic dentists in the world.

Dr. Mullaney graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1983, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1987.

Upon graduation, Dr. Mullaney completed a one-year general practice residency at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, California. This highly selective program meant demanding continuing education, an exacting regimen distinguished by rotations through all dental specialties. Dr. Mullaney then practiced for five years with the United States Navy, gaining skills in specialized dental procedures, and reaching Lieutenant Commander Rank. During her Navy assignment in Philadelphia, she gained local recognition for her organization of community programs promoting awareness of Dental Health.

Dr. Mullaney loved serving her Country as a Naval Officer and Dentist and the appreciation seemed mutual. For this service, Dr. Mullaney was awarded two Navy Achievement Medals and a Navy Commendation Medal, each in recognition of sustained superior performance.

Dr. Mullaney has long been very active in the dental community and various local dental societies, as well as civic and professional organizations. She is currently involved with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, Northern Virginia Dental Society, Greater Washington Academy of Women Dentists, Alexandria Dental Society, and the Alexandria Implant Study Club.

Dr. Mullaney has been in Private General Practice since 1993, and calls Old Town Alexandria home with her two daughters. She enjoys golf, tennis, reading, and most of all, spending time with her loved ones.

Growing up, Dr. Mullaney always knew she wanted to be in the health care profession. While an undergraduate at the University of Pittsburgh, she volunteered many hours in a dental clinic and found her true calling.

After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 1983, Dr. Mullaney entered the Medical College of Virginia (MCV) Dental School in Richmond, Virginia. In 1987, Dr. Mullaney graduated MCV with a D.D.S. Doctorate of Dental Surgery degreeand then proudly served as a United States Navy Dentist.

In the Navy, Dr. Mullaneys first tour of duty was in San Diego, California. She applied for and was accepted into a comprehensive and challenging (plus competitive) one-year general practice residency at the Naval Hospital. Doctor (also Lieutenant Commander) Mullaney later completed a five-year period of active duty as a Navy Dentist, highlighted by an exchange tour with the U.S. Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Entering private practice, Dr. Mullaney happily settled in Old Town Alexandria. Since then, she eagerly keeps up with, gently treats, and greatly cares for her beloved patients. Beyond her own dental practice, Dr. Mullaney enjoys living in Old Townits where she resides along with her husband, Mark, and their two daughters.

Dr. Mullaney is grateful for this proximity. She can carve out time away from the office for continuing professional education. Dr. Mullaney has dedicated herself to life-long learning in the dental profession, so she can deliver to her patients the most up-to-date procedures, practices, and technologies available.

Heather began her career in Dentistry as a Dental Assistant. She loved helping change peoples lives through Dentistry so she decided to advance her career and become a dental hygienist. Heather brings 7 years of experience to our team.

Originally from Jamaica West Indies, Tamara moved to the United States in 2014 calling Maryland her new home. Tamara has been working in Dentistry her entire professional career as many of her family members are in the dental field in both Jamaica and the US. Tamaras dental career began in 2005 when she graduated dental hygiene school in Jamaica. Tamara practiced as a registered dental hygienist for 9 years prior to moving to the United States. After moving to the US she wanted to continue her passion in the dental field and became a dental assistant. Tamaras quiet nature is very calming to patients and she prides herself on treating each person in Dr. Mullaneys chair as a family member.

Tamara now resides in Virginia with her daughter Arielle. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with her friends and spending time exploring all of the museums and other wonderful educational opportunities in the DMV with her daughter.

Robin comes to us with 15 years of customer service experience in the medical field. She is excited to learn all about dentistry and giving our patients top notch service. Robin will be the friendly voice you hear on the phone and greeting you at our door!

Robin lives in Southern Maryland with her husband. She has three amazing daughters and 2 grandchildren. In her spare time you will probably find her being GiGi and playing with the grandbabies or spending time with her family. She also has 2 dogs, Fender and Brody and a cat named Jasper.

Crystal has been in the Dental Field for the last 18 years. She holds certifications in X-Ray Technician, CPR, Dental Coding and Billing, and CEREC. Though she has 18 years of experieicne, she only grows more passionate through her superior patient interaction and attention to detail. She strives to ensure that every patient leaves with a bigger smile than they arrived with.

Crystal is a native of Northern Virginia who is currently working to obtain her Bachelors degree in Business Management. When she is not working or at school she loves to spend time with her three beautiful children and her loving Pitbull-mix Bella.
