Dr. Karen Mitchell and her husband, Rich, are Michigan natives and have lived in Kalamazoo for almost 25 years. They have been blessed with 5 children including three grown adults and two in high school. In her free time, Karen enjoys gardening, family backpacking and recreational trips, as well as cheering for her favorite hockey playerswho happen to be her two high school sons.
As for Dr. Mitchells professional background, Dr. Mitchell graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1998. She has been providing general dentistry to members of the Kalamazoo community for the past 20 years. In 2019 Dr. Mitchell realized a dream come true when she had the opportunity to purchase a well-established dental practice. She has continued to build upon the foundation of high-level care and treatment of valued patients. She works with a highly-functioning staff to assist her in the journey!
Dr. Mitchell strives to provide excellent care in a patient-focused manner alongside her close-knit dental team. Treatment is designed to help patients establish and/or maintain optimal oral health in order to positively impact their overall health and well-being. Dr. Mitchell will provide the highest level of excellence in care tailor-suited to patients individual needs and wants.Dr. Mitchell and her staff look forward to serving the Kalamazoo community for many years to come!
Mary is no stranger to the dental field as she has over 38 years of experience in the dental industry. Mary is also the first friendly face you will see upon arrival at KM Dentistry and she is ready to help our wonderful patients with any insurance, billing and scheduling needs. When she is not in the office, Mary enjoys camping and spending time with her family and friends.
Kathy has been with this dental practice since 2013 and her primary role is helping with reception tasks. Kathy is instrumental in keeping the office running smoothly and efficiently through her excellent execution of multiple tasks and willingness to take on any additional responsibilities as they arise. Kathy is always willing to assist and does so with a smile. In her free time, Kathy enjoys spending time with her family, baking and time outdoors.
Courtneys career in the dental field began while she was in high school through an opportunity within a medical occupations program. Courtney is a 1998 graduate of the Kalamazoo Community College dental hygiene program. Courtneys passion is to connect with her patients while providing comfortable care and patient education on oral hygiene and needs. She feels blessed that her dental team and patients are like family to her. In her free time, Courtney enjoys working outdoors, home improvement projects, golfing, church, playing cards and most of all spending time with her family.
Michelle has been a hygienist for 12 years. In her free time, Michelle enjoys time spent with her family including her husband, two children, a bunny and a cat. In the summer time, their family fun includes riding their dune buggy at Silver Lake, camping with family and friends, biking, hiking or just playing on the beach. In the winter, family fun includes downhill skiing at Bittersweet ski resort. Michelle and her family are avid Michigan State fansthanks to her sons love of sports and Michigan State too. Michelles goal as a hygienist is to treat every patient like family and she looks forward to helping each patient have healthy and happy smiles!
Alainna completed her CDA through Ross Medical School. Since completing her CDA she has had experience with pediatric patients, orthodontic care, and general dentistry. Alainna is very personable, and she is committed to making our patients feel right at home while providing a positive experience at our office. Outside of work Alainna enjoys outdoor activities such as bike riding, day hiking, and spending time at the lake. She also enjoys being with family and friends. Most of all, she loves spending time with her cats, Dakota and Finn.

I have never liked the dentist. NEVER. But Dr. Karen Mitchell!! i have followed her all around Kalamazoo. From Dr. Bannow Practice to Dr. Sharp and NOW her OWN Practice. I even sent my mom to her and the results are in. DR. Mitchell by far is the best dentist in KALAMAZOO. I got my first ever mouth appliance and from start to finish it was the best experience. I am so excited! I got my Bite back. LOL! YOU WILL DEFINITLEY be in good hands with Dr. Mitchell and her SUPER ALL FEMALE SUPPORT STAFF! Talk about GIRL POWER!!!! Thank you!!!

She and her staff will make you feel comfortable and relaxed in the dental chair and extremely confident in her expertise and professionalism. I recently had my fillings replaced and she did an excellent job--no pain and the new fillings are perfect! You will love her staff too! Highly recommend!

I have been seeing Dr. Mitchell for approximately 20 years. She is a fantastic dentist! I have brought fellow family members to see her, and my children have seen her since they were about three years old as well. All of the work that Dr. Mitchell has done with me has been phenomenal and long lasting. Her personal care and attention truly makes you feel like she cares about you and your health. When presented with a complex case with my older mother, she laid out all of her options on the table for her care as well as financing to help us make the best choice that we could. She is honest and straightforward. I would highly recommend her for anybody.

Your place is amazing, I have had my braces almost 16 months now. My first experience with braces and has been the most caring place to get braces done. The staff is perfect and very understanding. Dr. Karen Mitchell and the team are great! They have helped me out bring back my smile and confidence. Highly skillful and professional.
