Although Dr. Shelli grew up in the Northeast, she always felt drawn to the Carolinas. After completing both her chemistry and doctorate degrees at the University of Connecticut in 2013, she was ready to leave the snow behind. She spent a year in Richmond, Virginia exploring the best brunch restaurants and expanding her clinical skills at the VCU general residency program.
As a nature lover, Dr. Shellis approach to dentistry from tooth replacement, movement and restoration to full smile reconstruction is based on mimicking Natures beautiful design of the chewing system. She enjoys the artistic and systematic approach to providing functionally centered cosmetic dentistry. She has taken extensive hands on coursework focused on diagnosis and treatment of complex bite disorders and TMJ related issues at the Dawson Academy, a globally recognized post graduate education center.
Dr. Shelli has a uniquely Wholistic approach to diagnosing and treating the Whole patient, rather than simply focusing on the teeth and gums. She passionately believes in the human bodys incredible capability to heal, and that oral health is intimately related to a persons overall health and well-being. Not only does she consider the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of overall well-being; but she is purely focused on addressing the underlying root cause of any health issue, rather than treating the signs and symptoms.
Aside from fillings and crowns, what Dr. Shelli enjoys THE MOST about dentistry is connecting with other humans. She will take her time getting to know you, addressing your concerns and explaining your treatment options in detail. More than anything, she wants you to feel comfortable and enjoy every experience at Bela Family Dentistry.
Dr. Shelli currently lives in both Uptown Charlotte and Lake Wateree with her fianc Lenny, who also happens to be a dentist. Whether cooking at home or restaurant hopping, they both love everything related to food. Dr. Shelli enjoys all outdoor activities, practicing yoga and meditation, wake surfing, traveling, having deep soul-nourishing conversations about life, and anything that is chai flavored.
Neffritita graduated in 2000 from the American Red Cross Dental Assistant Program in Aviano, Italy. She has had an interest in the dental field since she was in elementary school. Her favorite part of her job is educating patients and helping them maintain their dental health. Patients appreciate her compassionate personality and calm bedside manner. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching movies and reading.
Neffritita has been married to her wonderful husband, Teddy, for seven years. She has two sons (Nahzeer and Teddy Jr (TJ), a daughter (Aaliyah), a bonus daughter (Jasmine) and a fur daughter (Diamond) that calls her Mom. Kamora, her granddaughter calls her GiGi!
