Born and raised in Chattanooga, Dr. Payne is honored to offer personalized, quality dental care to those from his hometown and its surrounding areas. As a 1996 graduate of the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center College of Dentistry, he offers clinical expertise, years of experience, and a deep passion for the art of dentistry.
Nestled on the banks of the Tennessee River at the end of Martin Luther King Boulevard, Dr. Paynes office is located on the third floor of one of the few Gold Leaf LEED certified buildings in Chattanooga. This stringent certification is awarded to structures specifically designedforenvironmental sustainability, both environmentally and socially.

Joann is a Chattanooga native who graduated from UTC with a BS in Office Administration. She enthusiastically joined Dr. Paynes team in January of 2016 and thoroughly loves working with people. She has a wonderful husband and two fun-loving sons. In her spare time, you might find her golfing, kayaking, or on an exciting, zany adventure.
Katy is a Chattanooga native who graduated from Notre Dame High School in 2010 and went on to further her education at Chattanooga State in the Dental Assisting Program. She joined Dr. Joe Paynes team in 2016 and enjoys seeing the spectacular results of all the different cases she and Dr. Payne work on together. On her off days, she enjoys staying active by running and playing Co-Ed kickball.
Kara is a native of Signal Mountain and a graduate of Baylor School. She graduated from the Dental Hygiene program at Chattanooga State in 2012 and joined Dr. Paynes team in 2013. Her favorite thing about being a dental hygienist is seeing improvement in a patients home care. She lives in North Chattanooga with her two dogs, Sully and Fig.
Nikki was born and raised in Chattanooga and has been a Registered Dental Hygienist since 1993. This is her second time working at Dr. Paynes practice. Her particular gift is the ability to enjoy working in the hygiene department and the business department of the office. She enjoys spending time with her two children and enjoys doing anything in the sunshine particularly if it is at the beach!

I just had the best dentist experience of my life. It was amazing! When I got there they had already gotten the x-ray from my previous dentist and they said they had gotten my email with my forms so I didn't have to do anything when I got there. Nikki brought me to her office right when my appointment was scheduled. She asked me questions and was really nice, and she even gave me some tips. I expected it to hurt like it normally did, but she was really gentle and careful so it didn't hurt at all. I didn't know the dentist could be that painless. I won't be as stressed to go to the dentist anymore!

Been with Dr. Payne for so long, I'd say early 2000. That mean he is good. And his staff are very helpful and friendly.

Joseph Payne's office was great! They are all so personable from the receptionist to the dental hygienist. I love this office and so happy to be a patient at a place I am comfortable with. I highly recommend!!

FOUND MY NEW DENTIST! I live in Montana and worked for a dental office myself but had to move down here for some family stuff. I called other local offices and nobody could or would get me for something really small. I called their office and I got in the next day. The staff is really friendly and the Dr is so kind and understanding. I will be going here for all my dental care.

Loved this Dr. for more than ten years because of his ability to listen, his wisdom to decipher information, but, most of all, for his ability to explain costs and treatment options after clearly explaining the need for such. Plus, his staff is great with setting up payment options for what insurance won't cover and BEFOREHAND explains if extra costs will be required. He humbly recommends other specialists when a referral is best. Keeps a smile bright AND does so in a manner that increases one's desire to use it! To my family, he's been awesome.

Not that I love going to the dentist, but they make you feel so comfortable. Filling fixed in 15 mins as promised. Couldn't believe it!

Had the get a root canal done. Everything was great. Friendly staff and Dr. Payne was amazing. Didn't hurt at all. 3 hours after with no pain killer, I still don't feel the 'Payne'. Had to throw that in there lol. Tool were clean and the procedure was done professionally. He will now be my family dentist.
