Dr. Lee graduated from the UCLA School of Dentistry in 2004 where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) Degree. While taking more than 100 hours every year in continuing education, he continually acquires a broad range of knowledge and skills from every branch of dentistry.
He has received various certifications throughout his career. Among them are certifications in Dental Implantology from the Nobel Biocare Training Institute and the United States Dental Institute for Orthodontics. Multiple certifications from completions of mini-residencies and advanced training for the treatment of TMJ and Craniofacial Pain Disorders and Dental Sleep Medicine from the TMJ and Sleep Therapy Centres International, the Bay Area Center for Craniomandibular Disorders, the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, and the UCLA Dental Sleep Medicine Mini-Residency with years of additional training and putting these techniques into clinical practice, he has shown proficiency in the fields of Dental Implantology, Orthodontic Braces and Functional Appliance Therapy, TMJ and Craniofacial Pain Disorders, and Dental Sleep Medicine.
He has attained Board-Certifications with both the American Board of Craniofacial Pain and the American Board of Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine and has achieved Fellowships with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. Dr. Lee continually seeks to better his knowledge and skill in order to provide his patients with truly comprehensive care.
Dr. Lee is married to his wife Ashley and loves to play with his sons, Colin and Caden. When he isn't working or taking continuing education, he spends time taking care of his toddlers or taking hikes with his wife. On occasion, he can steal time away to play golf and ride his motorcycles. He especially loves it when his favorite patients bring him fruits and chocolate.
Dr. Hwang earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) Degree at the UCLA School of Dentistry in 2012. Thereafter, she completed her General Practice Residency at the Veterans Affairs Healthcare System in Long Beach, CA. In this highly selective program, she had the opportunity to provide comprehensive dental care for our medically-compromised veterans.
Before joining our practice, Dr. Hwang worked at a modern private dental group practice in Chino Hills, CA while continuing to provide dental services to veterans on her weekends. She is well-versed in all aspects of general, cosmetic, and implant dentistry. She feels that the foundation to building long-lasting relationships with her patients is being a good listener while providing exceptional care. She takes continuing education on a regular basis as this allows her to stay on top of current materials and techniques.
Her drive in dentistry stems from her love of learning and deep compassion for helping others. In her spare time, Dr. Hwang enjoys hiking, globetrotting as well as exploring new restaurants. As a native of Los Angeles, she will always appreciate recommendations for things to do around the Bay Area. Unfortunately, due to new shows on Netflix, she struggles to achieve her daily 10k steps as recommended by her Fitbit.
Dr. Katherine Chen grew up in Richmond, Virginia and attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Biomedical Engineering on a full scholarship. She then proceeded to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) Degree with the distinguished Omnicron Kappa Upsilon academic honor. After graduation from dental school, she moved across the country to the Bay Area to join her husband. She was selected to complete a General Practice Residency at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where she had an opportunity to serve our veterans while advancing her training in all aspects of dental care including oral surgery, temporomandibular disorders, periodontal surgery, and implant placement.
She is committed to evidence-based practices while also keeping current with the latest technology and techniques. She also believes that the center of great dental care is founded on fostering good relationships and trust. When you see Dr. Chen, she'll always have a cheerful smile on her face and is always open to talk about anything from dental health to that new restaurant you tried last weekend! She believes in creating connections with her patients in a comfortable and positive dental environment so that you can work together on achieving the optimal level of oral health!

First time being to a dentist and Dr. Lee is super professional in this area. He removed my two wisdom teeth in about five minutes and it doesn't feel much pain after that. Thanks for his excellent skills that I'm not afraid of dentist anymore!!

I am more than happy to recommend Dr. Joseph Lee, the best oral surgeon I have ever seen! I visited him for his advice on my wisdom teeth removal, and it turned out to be a sensible decision - in general, he is very knowledgeable and trustworthy. During our consultation, he clarified the treatment plan in a professional and patient manner. Moreover, he also kindly helped me mentally prepare for the procedure. As an expert in the field of wisdom teeth extraction, he is compassionate with excellent communication skills. Last but not least, the efficiency of his office operation is impressive - I was expected to submit all electronic forms before my visit, which saved me much time before my surgery. I highly appreciate the supreme dental services that Dr. Lee and his care team provided!

Dr Lee is the first dentist that I ever referred to as a Rock Star! I went for one procedure, and he took the time to do a full exam and make sure I knew what was urgent and what could be done down the road! Compared to other dentists, he is patient, personal, professional and as pain free as a dentist can be (LOL). Once I trusted him I bombarded him with questions and he was straight forward about what was in my best interest based on everything I wanted! If you are looking for an amazing dentist, this is your guy!

I have recently started visiting Mountain View Dental and specifically Dr Hwang for a number of issues like, extractions, fillings, scaling etc. My experience has been overwhelmingly positive. To start with, I am always seen at my actual appointment time (or within 5mins) which is a rarity at doctors' offices. As for the procedures, even though I got 3 extractions done at the same time, I barely had any swelling and it healed perfectly. They also accepted my insurance (Cigna) and the rates for all procedures were quite fair. Will definitely recommend and return here for future visits!

My wife and I visited Dr. Lee's dental office on Wednesday and we were not quite satisfied with our experience here. Initially, we asked if we could both see Dr. Lee himself for discussing our examination and treatment. They kept saying that they cannot do that because it wasn't arranged like that. After a long discussion and agreeing to the plan, though, Dr. Lee seemed rushed throughout the discussion with my wife, and constantly asked if she could speed up the process since he did not have much time. What I'm most unhappy about is that, for some reason, he treated me first, and spent a long time, while my wife was sitting alone in the treatment room with no one attending to her for 40 minutes! This is very unprofessional. The fact that he rushed through the discussion with my wife and prevented her from asking more questions is very irresponsible and rude. My wife and I had equally important conditions and we deserve the same level of treatment, but I feel that they did not spent the same amount of time or attention on my wife, and they were rushing her. As first-time patients, we did not feel like we were cared for or had time to go through our dental conditions in detail. And we've never had any dentist who told patients to stop asking during the middle of the conversation. Furthermore, when we were taking X-rays for our teeth, our hygienists were not very gentle and pushed our mouth/teeth rather hard. Some hygienists also had accents which we felt a bit difficult to understand. We would not regard this place as a friendly dentistry to visit.

Best dentist ever!!! They are so thorough and make the process as comfortable as possible. They also have digital x-rays and can accept Apple Pay! Their scheduling is so easy and I love that they remind me of my appointments and tell me how to avoid rescheduling feels with ample time. This is the most efficient office I've ever visited!

I moved to the Bay Area in 2018 and I've been going to Dr. Lee since then, and I feel like I've gotten really great dental care from his office. Some of my cavities from my previous dentist were cracked, and they replaced them, and so far I haven't had any issues with cracking after that. He's given me very good suggestions about how I can improve my dental health, like wearing mouth tape at night to avoid mouth breathing, brushing and flossing suggestions, etc. One of my biggest issues now is that I grind or clench my teeth in my sleep, and I started getting cracks in some of my teeth, and the alignment of my top teeth with the bottom isn't very good (I have trouble even biting down comfortably), so I just got braces through Dr. Lee's office this week to resolve some of this in the next year or two. The pricing for bracketing and all follow-up visits was very reasonable, my health insurance didn't cover all of it, but it wasn't exorbitantly expensive, it's in the middle of the general price range for braces I found online. I would actually probably be concerned if it was on the lower end of the price range. His office is really clean (they just remodeled the whole place in fact), and they have a great scheduling system with automatic text and email reminders and a Google Calendar integration so that you don't miss appointments. I don't have any complaints, and I feel like I've gotten great dental care from them. I come in whenever they suggest a deep cleaning, and get regular cleanings and examinations 2-3 times a year, and I haven't had any issues whatsoever.

Great Experience! Dr. Lee respected my concerns and was generous with his time in my initial consult - unlike other practices I have visited in my quest for the "right dentist." I am fortunate indeed!
