Dr. Joseph 'Trip' Schweighardt grew up in Wayne, NJ and, in his early years, was involved in local educational and community programs including PAL sports and the Boy Scouts. He became an Eagle Scout during his sophomore year of high school. After graduating from Newark Academy, Trip completed his B.S. in Biology at Dartmouth College in 1980.
Trip went on to earn his Doctoral of Medical Dentistry from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry in 1984. He then attended a one year General Practice Residency at St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady, NY. In the hospital, the focus was placed in treating medically compromised patients and dental and medical emergencies. He continues to use this knowledge in his practice each day.
Trip and his wife, Linda, have a daughter, Kristin and a son-in-law, Andy. They also have a son, Joey and daughter-in-law Amanda, plus youngest son Kyle. Trip enjoys spending time in Cape Cod and Disney World and loves talking to patients about Mickey Mouse any time! He is an avid fan of the Yankees, the New York Rangers and Penn State.

The absolute BEST dentist bar none! Everyone here is super friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Schweighardt (Trip) is a joy to see, and is truly caring of his patients. I had a cracked wisdom tooth with an exposed nerve in the middle of the night and Trip returned my call immediately and saw me before the office even opened. You will never pay for unnecessary work here, and every aspect of your visit will be thoroughly explained. If I could give 10 stars, I would!! Exceptional dental practice!

Absolutely love Dr Schweighardt and the whole team! Lovely family run practice. Very trustworthy and conservative with dental work. I moved around a lot of dentists in my 20s and final landed here once we bought a home in the area. He was the first dentist to not tell me i needed fillings or work at every appointment. And they're incredibly easy to reach and accommodating. I had dental issues over the weekend and they called me back immediately and checked up on me multiple times to make sure i was ok. Cannot recommend them enough!

Dr. Schweighardt is absolutely the best dentist myself and my entire family have ever had! We have had much serious dental care, as well as routine, and had excellent care always! We have had the privilege of going to him professionally for 25 years. I highly recommend him and his entire office staff; as does my husband and 2 adult children!

My family and children have been patients at this office for many years. The office has a "homey" feel and the dental team is kind, caring, and puts you at ease. The quality of care and treatment is excellent for any emergency situations and for filings, crowns, root canals, caps and regular cleanings. The cleanings are thorough with careful removal of all tartar resulting with extra white and smooth teeth.

We live right outside of NYC, so there are literally hundreds of dentists within a ten mile radius. We drive an hour each way to go to Dr. Schweighardt and it is worth every mile. Everyone in the practice makes you feel like family and they make the experience as pleasant as possible. I highly recommend Dr. Schweighardt for both children and adults.

I have been going to Dr. Schweighardt, and before him, his father-in-law, Dr. Thompson, close to 40 years, and at age 66, I still have all my pearly-whites. Dr. Schweighardt, (boy, that name is hard to spell and pronounce), so many of his patients call him "Trip", which puts me at ease, knowing that he is not only my dentist, but a partner and friend in my continuing oral health. His wife Linda, (she is a character), is the hygienist, and my teeth feel so clean and fresh after the cleaning, that I don't want to eat anything for a long time, but we all know how that goes, eh? The staff is also so friendly, that you feel like you have known them your whole life too. Many times good people come into your life, accidentally, on purpose, or by a higher power. This was by a higher power, and we have benefitted from "Trip" and the Gang, over the years, and hopefully the Good Lord willing, many many more to come. AJZ
