Our doctors joined together at Montshire to ensure that all children are treated with dignity and compassion and have equal access to quality dental care.
Montshire is the only pediatric dental office in Sullivan County that accepts Medicaid. In Cheshire County, we are one of only three. Private insurance often pays 3 to 4 times more than a dentist will receive for completing that exact same procedure on a child who has Medicaid. For that reason, many dentists refuse Medicaid entirely. Where it is accepted, most limit Medicaid to a small percentage of their client base. At Montshire, we do not restrict it in any way.
The trend in our country is discouraging. Cavities are the most common chronic childhood disease in America, and 80% of this tooth decay is found in the lowest-income 20% of the population.
