Dr. Safley is working here part time. Dr. Safley was a military brat until Third grade, traveling the world to new Air Force Bases. After his travels were completed he settled in Tacoma. His college years and Dental school all found him at the University of Washington. GO DAWGS!! He worked for the Puyallup Indians for two years, in their dental clinic, then opened his own practice in Bellevue. His skills grew as he serviced that community for 26 years. He loves dentistry and strives to maintain integrity in always educating and presenting his patients with the best dental options. Dr. Safley prides himself on delivering excellent dentistry with comfort and care. He is married to Patti, a first grade teacher. They have five daughters. He also loves biking, skiing, woodworking, and family time.
Tasha graduated from Tallahassee Community College in Florida in 1998 in Dental Hygiene. After graduation she and her husband moved to Washington State where she began her career as a hygienist with Dr. Dykstra. Tasha was first employed by Dr. Dykstra from 1998 through 2003, when she abruptly ended her employment due to a family emergency. Tasha then spent the next 15 years homeschooling her 3 children. In 2017, when her daughter asked to go to private school for high school, Tasha felt it was the right time to head back into her profession. Because of the familiarity with patients and the trusted relationship with Dr. Dykstra, Tasha knew this would be the perfect place to start off again. Tasha enjoys her career and has loved the transition back into her profession. When not working, Tasha can be found on the baseball field cheering on her boys, Andrew and Adam, or hanging out with her daughter Ava, playing games or watching movies. Most people would say her greatest asset is her laugh, but she will tell you that its her marriage of 23+ years and her children.
We are so excited that Toni McCullough is back working with our wonderful staff. Toni began her career in dentistry in 1984, as a high school senior she attended Sno-Isle and received her certificate in dental assisting. She furthered her education and studied dental hygiene in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She has been practicing dental hygiene for 24 years. She has been filling in with Dr. Dykstra for over 20 years and joined our team as a permanent staff member in March of 2020.Toni is a native Arlingtonian and enjoys practicing in her hometown. She has 3 grown children and 3 stepchildren. She enjoys hiking, skiing, camping, and sailing in her free time.
Please help us welcome Kara back, our new registered dental hygienist, to our practice! Kara was previously a registered and certified dental assistant, having graduated with her associates degree from Bellingham Technical College in 2013. She started working as an assistant at our office in 2017 and during here time here, was accepted into the dental hygiene program at Lake Washington Institute of Technology in 2019. Kara graduated from Lake Washington with her Bachelors degree in dental hygiene in June of 2021, and now she is happily back with our office ready to provide kindness and care to our amazing patients! Her favorite part about being a dental hygienist is sharing her knowledge about oral health with her patients, getting to build trusting relationships with them, and being able to provide for them the best care possible. Kara and her husband have been married since 2014 and they have two beautiful children. They especially love being outdoors, going on vacation, and being around their families. In her spare time, Kara enjoys playing co-ed sports, golfing, camping trips, and going to Mariners games with family and friends.
Michelle is our administrative and treatment coordinator and has been a part of our team since 2009 and absolutely loves it! Michelle brings many years of administrative experience to her position. Her enthusiasm and commitment encourage patients, their families and friends to come to our practice. She enjoys spending time with her family and leads a very busy life with sports and outdoor activities including riding her horses. Michelle is available to answer your questions and explain treatment, fees and insurance benefits.
Jamie is a Registered Dental Assistant. Jamie received her certification from Bryman in 2002. She has been in the dental field since 2001. She enjoys helping patients feel comfortable and improve their oral health. In her spare time, Jamie enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and friends.
Crystal is a registered dental assistant who recently joined our practice in 2021, she is a native of Arlington. Crystal grew up here in Arlington and worked at the cancer center in Everett for 9 years before moving to San Diego, CA for 4 years and changing career paths. She graduated with her RDA from San Diego Mesa College in 2019. Crystal has two amazing children, Josiah and Cali. In their spare time they enjoy being outdoors, hiking and taking their dog for walks. Crystal is so happy to be back in her hometown and working for Dr. John Dykstra. She enjoys helping people with their dental needs and making people feel move comfortable.

The WORST dentist I have ever been to! He has NO personality or bed side manner. No hello, no nothing. I couldn't get out of that office fast enough. I can't believe he has any patients!!

I went there for the first time today to get my teeth cleaned and was extremely disappointed. The person who worked on my teeth kept yanking on my fillings and saying they were just plack. I repeatedly told the person that they were fillings and to stop yanking on them but all they did was just tell me that they've been doing this a long time and that they know what there doing. On top of that they stabbed me in the gums nonstop and repeatedly told me that they hurt cus I don't brush enough. I brush and floss my teeth three times a day. This person was not doing their job right. My mouth is still throbbing in pain and it's been more than a day. Do not recommend, AT ALL.

Dr. Dykstra and his staff are wonderful! My son had a motocross injury and knocked out his lower tooth on a holiday weekend. I was able to contact Dr. Dykstra on his emergency number and he met us at his office to re-implant his tooth. A huge note of thanks to him , as he had been at a holiday BBQ 50 miles away and had left just to take care of my son. There are few people that would have dropped everything to see a dental emergency and not just sent us to the ER. If your looking for a kind and compassionate dentist, this is the place to go.

I've been seeing Dr. Dykstra since 1976 after moving to Arlington from Everett. I had bad experiences with my dentist in Everett when I was young. Dr. Dykstra is such a gentle dentist and person. He has done fillings, several crowns, and even a bridge that consists of 9 teeth!!! Along with other bridges. He is currently building me a bridge on me this month. (Aug. 2016) My wife and children also see Dr. Dykstra and feel the same way as I do. I really can't say enough kind words about this Dentist. His staff is also the best!! They always greet me and others I've witnessed with a big smile and genuinely care about all patients. I would recommend Dr. Dystra and have done so to anyone.

This used to be a positive review, but after years of going to this dentist, I have given up on them. Dr Dykstra routinely does sloppy dental work. The crown he did for me was a total mess. The dental assistant was totally incompetent, and the billing staff is rude, unreasonable, and completely unprofessional.
