DFW Oral Surgeons was founded in 1989 by Dr. Lee Oneacre. Our current surgeon, Dr. John C. Shillingburg, has been providing outstanding care to the families of Flower Mound, Texas, for more than ten years.

As an active member of the community, Dr. Oneacre established our dedicated charity program. For years we have helped sponsor organizations like the Flower Mound High School Varsity Football team, the Wellington Sharks, the Guyer Silverados, the Lake Dallas High Steppers, and many others. He was also involved in many organizations that assist disadvantaged patients. Although he is now retired, we are proud to continue on his legacy of service.

Your general dentist should be able to treat the most common types of oral health problems. However, when you need a complicated or restorative surgery, your dentist will refer you to an oral surgeon instead.

There are two main types of tooth extractions simple and surgical. A simple extraction can be done whenever a portion of your tooth is above the gum line and can be grasped with a pair of forceps. Your general dentist should be able to perform a simple extraction.

Whenever a tooth becomes impacted, breaks below the gum line, or poses other complications, you may need to see an oral surgeon. Oral surgeons, like Dr. Shillingburg, can perform the types of operations necessary to safely remove problematic teeth and preserve the health of your smile.

Yes! Here at DFW Oral Surgeons, we specialize in implant placements. For most patients, we can install implants by attaching a titanium screw to the jawbone. A portion of the implant remains above the gums surface, while the other half merges with the bone to provide support.

Because you need to be in good health to undergo this procedure, we may need to use an alternate implant method if your jawbones are weak or deteriorated. By introducing a bone graft to the site, we can strengthen your jaw and allow you to receive this treatment. Alternately, we can install zygomatic implants in the cheekbones and avoid needing a bone graft altogether.

When performed by a skilled oral surgeon, implant placements are some of the safest available. Implants have a very high success rate. When properly cared for, they have very few complications. At DFW Oral Surgeons, we have provided high-quality implant placements to patients in and around Flower Mound, Texas, since 1989. Dr. Shillingburg himself has been with our practice since 2009 and is a trusted name among oral surgeons.

After your implant procedure, we will provide you care instructions. These instructions will give you all the information necessary to ensure your mouth heals properly. We are also happy to answer any questions you may have before or after your visit.

Yes! Dentures are now more comfortable and functional than ever before with the help of dental implants. Once installed, your implants will firmly anchor your dentures in place, allowing you to eat and speak comfortably. This option is available for both full and partial dentures.

This is a question we often get from patients who are about to undergo oral surgery, such as dental implants. Thankfully, you dont need to worry! We will give you a sedative so you will not feel any pain or discomfort during your procedure.

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder affects the joints that control your jaw movements. This condition is often caused by chronic grinding and clenching, bone erosion, or a traumatic injury. In its early stages, TMJ can typically be corrected with either a stint or nightguard.

If the problem progresses, oral surgery may be necessary to repair the joints. This procedure may involve adjusting the jawbones positioning, removing small amounts of inflamed tissue, or replacing the joint altogether. Dr. Shillingburg will use X-ray and CT scan technology to pinpoint the cause of your pain and make a treatment plan.

Dr. Shillingburg and staff are the best in the business. Dr. Shillingburg truly cares about his patients and his employees makes things go so smoothly. He's very thorough, precise, and explains things so that you will completely understand. He goes above and beyond to help his patients even if they are a walk in emergency. I've had 3 surgical extractions, 2 implants, bone grafts, (all under general anesthesia). He takes his time and is genuinely concerned about after care. He's called us after every procedure to check on me. He's personable and remembers family names and family situations. That goes a long way. I appreciate that level of kindness and compassion. Do not hesitate to trust DFW Oral Surgeons and Dr. Shillingburg and staff. They will treat you like family. I'm consistently impressed after having jaw surgery, hospitalization, implants, etc. He's the one you want in your corner. Thank you Dr. Shillingburg and staff. You make a difference! Sincerely, Kristie Wendland

For anyone interested in a comprehensive explanation of why I DO NOT believe the office of DFW oral surgeons, nor Dr. Schillingburg to include some of his staff is what they are portraying, send me a request and I'll enumerate very specifically what really is occuring behind the closed doors of this so called respectable dental provider. From day one when I set foot into this office, regardless of the kind feelings I immediately felt, what became apparent is that this practice is not honest in their billing practices nor to their clients/patient's. Regardless that there are several physician owned hospitals & practices that have been shut down for fraudently billing insurance companies for either procedures that didn't occur, or were billed with inflative invoices listing procedures that didn't occur, or in some how were already paid for out of pocket and later billed duplicately. Additionally, there were several millions of dollars that were given back to the providers for either 'referrals' or practices that support improprieties. DFW oral surgeons are no different, except that Dr. Schillingburg will initally present very kind hearted at first, but will then instruct a patient to leave his office (especially the day you appear for a procedure) if he deems that he will not make the same kind of profit he usually makes from a cash paying customer. Regardless that he will attempt to connect with you using his prior military affiliation or his religious beliefs, don't be misled because ultimately you can be in the worst physical condition (as I was when I met with him 3 seperate times, orally fighting a bad infection, daily having my tongue and gums cut by broken teeth, and ultimately sent away because of a difference of $600). Don't be fooled! he really does 'appear' genuine, but when compared to the bottom dollar, or a 'cash' paying client, you will be sent away, regardless of what condition you are in! Apart from this provider in that office I can't speak to other providers, however the office manager named 'Michele', and Kaylee at the front office window, once again, pre-treatment estimates will be written wrong, will be missing diagnostic films when sent in to your insurance company, and when you call or email her, it will be nothing but a fight. She is all about the money as well, and really does NOT care about the patient sitting in that chair. For more specific information, whether it pertains to fraudently interacting with your insurance company, or directly interacting with patients, feel free to request further information and I can equip you with actual black and white evidence of what this office and provider is all about. Good Luck if your taking your chances with them!
