Dr. Purdy has proudly offered high quality dental care for El Paso residents since opening his practice in 1977. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Southern California and, prior to that, his Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and Psychology from Loyola University of Los Angeles.
Each year, Dr. Purdy and his team complete numerous hours of continuing education in order to stay abreast of all the advances in the field of dentistry to ensure that we offer our patients the highest quality care. He was awarded Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, an honor that places him in the top 7% of all dentists. Additionally, Dr. Purdy is active in a local dental study club, and he maintains membership in the Academy of General Dentistry and the Texas Dental Association. Dr. Purdy has served as President of the El Paso District Dental Society and the El Paso Academy of General Dentistry, Director of the El Paso Del Norte Study Club and has proudly served on the Texas Dental Associations Board of Directors. He was among the nominees of Texas AGD Dentist of the Year 1990, 2002, 2014 and 2016 and hes a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists.
At the May 2021 Texas Dental Association House of Delegates Meeting in San Antonio, Dr. Purdy was awarded the very prestigious TDA Gold Medal for Distinguished Service Award by 2020-2021 TDA President Dr. Jaqueline Plemons. One such award is distributed annually if, and only if, there is a worthy recipient that fulfills all required criteria and is recommended by his peers. Since this award has historically been given only to those who have served as Presidents of the TDA and served on the ADA Board of Directors, it was even more special for Dr. Purdy. He was shocked by the recognition since it was so totally unexpected, yet, fully appreciated.
Jeannette has been part of our dental team since 2004 when she started as the Doctors Dental Assistant. After four years, she migrated to the front office to work as a Treatment Coordinator and Insurance Specialist. What Jeannette enjoys most about her job is building relationships with our patients and helping them with their insurance needs. Our patients have become accustomed to having her greet them at the front desk and ask, Wheres Jeannette?, when they dont immediately see her.
Michelle recently joined Dr. Purdys team in October of 2020 after completing her assisting school externship training hours. She has been a positive addition to our dental team, always wearing a big smile, and making sure our patients feel at ease and confident in choosing our office. No matter what, she strives to improve her assisting skills and to provide a great experience for our patients. Outside of the workplace she enjoys spending quality time with her family and as a literature enthusiast; she looks forward to reading new books every weekend.
Christina has been a part of Dr. Purdys dental team since the summer of 2018 when she completed her two year dental hygiene training program at El Paso Community College. Upon obtaining her license in June, she signed on to our office the following month. Since then, Christina has been building relationships with our patients and helping them achieve and maintain good oral health. Outside of work, Christina enjoys spending time with her family. Park visits and movie nights are what she looks forward to when she goes home to her two boys, three dogs and loving husband.

First time at Dr. Purdy's office, after my previous dentist closed. I had asked for referrals on Facebook. Friends gave me a few along with this one but the first 2 I called first, would not be able to get me in until September or when the first solstice of the universe came through!! I am so glad the others could not take me until then!! It had to be a God thing!! I had an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING experience!!! I kind of knew I would have a great experience after speaking with the reception when I first called to ask questions and "maybe" make the appointment! Jeanette (sp?) Was patient with me the 3 times we spoke on the phone while I was trying to decide whether or not to go. Then, I got there, she was at the reception office and was wonderful to me. I the met Dr. Purdy who is fantastic!! He is sassy, funny and has a terrific chair side manner! He made me feel at ease. Explained everything he was going to do and was doing while doing it! This is super important to me. I highly recommend this office!! Not only because of the amazing work he did, but most importantly because of the way each and every person i had contact with in that office made me feel at ease!!! On the financial side: I have dental insurance but their they have you pay on first visit, then file with insurance and reimburse what insurance pays. This made me nervous at first (hence, the 3 phone calls with Jeanette!) How ever, I had the typical XRay, exam and filling done at a great price!! I am over the moon about finding my new dentist and his staff!! I have been to many dentists in my 56 years of life, I can tell you vehemently and with much confidence, I HIGHLY reccomend Dr. Purdy's dental office!!

I am very pleased to highly recommend Dr. John Purdy for your dental needs. I had some serious problems caused primarily by my rheumatoid arthritis. Dr. Purdy described a treatment protocol and I am happy to say it has been successful. I would also like to say that the office personnel are very pleasant to deal with. I am happy with my smile.

Dr Purdy and his staff are professional in their demeanor, courteous, and friendly. Dr Purdy installed a molar crown on my implant. The temporary crown was replaced with a very nice permanent crown. I'm on my second temporary crown (premolar) and know I can count on a pleasing performance outcome. Highly recommend the dentist and his staff.
