For over 15 years, Dr. John Chiou has been providing his patients with the highest levels of personalized and compassionate oral healthcare, focusing on each patients unique needs and utilizing the highest levels of dental experience and technology. In a professional, relaxing environment, he is committed to delivering the most comfortable and attentive treatment possible.
Dr. John Chiou is a prosthodontist providing all phases of conventional and preventative dental care in order to optimize and maintain your dental health, whether it be as simple as improving your smile or replacing fractured, dark, or missing teeth. He is enthusiastic about caring for his patients, some of whom travel significant distances for his care from across the country and even international locations.
After Dr. Chiou received his secondary education at St. Pauls School in N.H., he completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology at John Hopkins University, earned his D.M.D. (Doctor of Dental Medicine) from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, and attained his Master of Medical Science Degree in Oral Biology and his specialty certification in Prosthodontics from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
As a Prosthodontic dental specialist, Dr. Chiou has had an additional three years of training in complex aesthetic restorative dentistry using tooth-colored restorations, porcelain crowns, and implants. He is excited about technology in dentistry and has a special interest in Complex Fixed/Removable restorations and Computer Designed crowns. He is enthusiastic about helping his patients understand the treatment options available to keep their teeth and preserve their smile in optimal condition.
Committed to assisting the community, Dr. Chiou has been honored with a Seacoast Community service award, is an active sponsor of the Rye Little League and Lions Club and helps serve our Police families and a member of the New Hampshire 100 Club. He also actively contributes to the Rye PTA, Firefighters, and the Seacoast Science Center.
Outside of the dental office, Dr. Chiou enjoys spending time with his loving wife and their two children. While his newest main hobby is being a caring husband and great father, he is an adventurer and engineer at heart, and loves tinkering with his old Land Rover and motorcycle. He dabbles in welding and is interested in 3D Printing and Computer Aided Design and Fabrication. Dr. Chiou enjoys the outdoors and is an avid reader. He loves Science Fiction and is a big fan of Star Wars.
Working alongside Dr. Chiou as his lead hygienist for over eight years has been so rewarding. Helping others is one of my passions, and this position gives me that opportunity daily. Sometimes dental treatment and education can be difficult to understand, and potentially intimidating. Communicating this information to my clients in a way that is both easy to understand and comforting, is one of my main goals. Seeing my patients smile puts a smile on my face as well. Outside of work I love being with my son, being outside, riding four wheelers, visiting family and friends.
In addition to the love of my career, is my love for friends and family. As a southern NH native, I really enjoy doing outdoor activities with my always energetic son Bentley. He keeps me on my toes, and I am always up for the adventure! Whether its going for a hike, riding four-wheelers, or just spending quality time with the ones I love.
She brings to our office experience working with insurance companies and treatment planning. She is looking forward to helping our patient's under their insurance benefits, utilizing them to the fullest and treatment planning.
Lisa lives in Lee and enjoys spending time with her family and friends. In her spare time she enjoys reading, kayaking and spending time at out beaches and the beautiful lakes region of New Hampshire.
Shannon has been in the dental field for over 16 years. She is a highly trained dental assistant. Patients appreciate her gentle and compassionate bedside manner. She cares about helping others, and loves seeing patients' smiles transform. Outside of work, Shannon loves being outside, visiting new places, and spending time with her two daughters Brooke & Avery.
Becca joined Rye Family Dental team in 2020. I completed a degree in Human Development with a minor in Business at UNH, and later went on to study dental hygiene at NHTI. In addition to the love of my career, is my love for friends and family. As a southern NH native, I really enjoy doing outdoor activities with my always energetic son Bentley. He keeps me on my toes, and I am always up for the adventure! Whether its going for a hike, riding four-wheelers, or just spending quality time with the ones I love. I also enjoy being outside and spending time with family, friends, and my dog. I also enjoys yoga, surfing, and riding my new road bike!

I have had a lot of work done on my teeth in 50 years and have been through many dentists. but Dr. Chiou not only cares about his patients comfort but he also explains and visually shows you on a screen before and after pictures of exactly what he is doing step by step, down to the counting down to when the Novocain needle is going in, where he applies his no pain techniques I highly recommend people take their family and kids to Dr. Chiou!

Best dentist ever! The office staff is so friendly and accommodating. I had an issue with my teeth for years and went to several dentists in Boston and NH to try to fix it. Dr. Chiou was able to identify a fix after my first visit and did amazing work! My fiance and I live in Austin, TX and fly in to see Dr. Chiou and his team at Rye family dental!

Dr Chiou is a great guy and accomplished dentist, but beware of his front office. My family and I were switching dentists and made it very clear that we weren't going to do so if not covered by our provider. We were assured that nothing would take place if we weren't adequately covered, and so we went in. Turns out we weren't covered at all and some very routine visits resulted in them billing us close to 1150$. When we protested they were gracious enough to give us 150$ or about 12%?! And even that was the cost of a missed appointment?!? Never again!

I really think that Dr. Chiou has saved my teeth with preventive work and crowning two teeth that were decayed. He always shows pictures and explains exactly what he wants to do. The hygienist does a good job cleaning my teeth, and we talk about how to keep my teeth and gums clean and healthy. Everyone in the office is very nice to me.

Friendly and welcoming staff from the moment you walk through the door. I've been in search for a new dentist that is equipped with the latest technologies, and can cater to a wimp like me (I seriously have no pain tolerance), and although I haven't had a filling with Dr. Chiou yet, he listened to me and reassured me that I'm in good hands. Dr. Chiou comes across as laidback, funny, confident (Harvard Grad, but not snooty), and he seems to genuinely have a passion for dentistry. I just moved my father from out of state only a month ago and he lost his bottom dentures during the move.
