Dr. John Holzinger grew up in Camden, NJ. He attended college at Temple University, where he majored in psychology. He went on to attend Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Dental Medicine in New Jersey, where he graduated at the top of his class. He received awards in Periodontics, Oral Surgery, Restorative Dentistry, and Endodontics. He was also voted into membership into Omicrom Kappa Upsilon
Dr. Michele Holzinger is a graduate of Mercy High School in Middletown, CT. She went on to attend the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN, where she majored in pre-med and history. Go Irish! After graduation, she volunteered for a year through Amate House, an Americorps program in Chicago. She served as a kindergarten teacher and director of the Junior Scholars Program
Dr. Lavanya Rajendran grew up in Cheshire, CT. She went on to attend New York University, where she majored in anthropology with a minor in chemistry. After graduation, she worked as a dental assistant for a year at a prosthodontists office in New York City

Dr. John Holzinger moved to Connecticut to attend the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine for his residency training in Periodontics.He fell in love with the area and opened his first practice in Middletown in 1984.Over the years, Dr. John enjoys attending continuing education classes and is an associate professor at UConn in the Department of Periodontology, where he teaches residents and dental students the finer skills of their trade.

Dr. Michele recently got married and enjoys time with her husband, Paul, and their dog, Sam.In her free time, she loves swimming, running, Crossfit, and anything outdoors.She is also an avid reader and loves to crochet.

Dr. Lavanya moved to California to attend Western University of Health Sciences, where she graduated top 10 in her class. She was awarded the Whos Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges as well as the award for Excellence in Pathology. She returned to CT and completed her residency training in Periodontics at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Lav has always had a passion for fitness and spends her free time taking Les Mills workout classes and has become a certified instructor in BodyFlow. She also enjoys running and hiking with her dog, Howie.

I had a cracked molar that couldn't be saved. When I learned it had to be pulled I was a nervous wreck. I imagined the pain, discomfort and that awful hole where the tooth once was. Dr. David Ridophi recommended Dr. John Holzinger. Thank goodness! Dr. Holzinger and his assistant were extremely gentle. The novacaine and extraction were painless. He was extremely patient and gentle. Dr. Holzinger also takes the time to talk to his patients and puts their minds at ease.

Absolutely love Dr. Holzinger ! My family has been going to him for years he has the best bedside manner so warm and makes you feel so comfortable. The staff also is so wonderful as well as Dr. Michelle Holzinger. Impeccably clean & comfortable atmosphere. Highly Recommend.

I'm new to the area and needed a periodontist . My first visit with Dr. Michelle Holzinger was wonderful ! She was kind, a good listener and very professional. I Needed a tooth pulled for an implant. I was searching for a new periodontist close to home when I discovered Dr. Holzinger's office in March 2018. After taking a drive to peruse his location and office building, I was immediately impressed, and intrigued, by the building, landscape, and overall professionalism of the environment. After finding the private entrance to Dr. Holzinger's office, I decided to go inside. The waiting room was clean and welcoming, and the couch was very comfortable. Theresa was working at the front desk where she greeted me and asked how she could help me. After explaining my dental dilemma, what I was doing, and what I hoped to accomplish, Theresa was more than kind and helpful. She explained how everything worked and what she would recommend. I was able to schedule an evaluation appointment the very next week with Dr. Michele Holzinger, who is Dr. John Holzinger's daughter. When I arrived for my evaluation appointment, I did not have to wait long before being seen by Dr. Michele. Again, I was very impressed with the entire environment, cleanliness, and professionalism of the entire staff. Dr. Michele was also very professional, and courteous, and examined my teeth and explained things to me. She was also very patient with answering all my questions. After my evaluation I decided to schedule a follow up appointment for a regular cleaning with periodontal maintenance. I'm very happy with the treatment I've received so far, I plan to keep coming back to this office.
