Dr. John Denison earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology at Florida State University and went on to pursue his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry. Dr. Denison places a strong emphasis on continuing education and he and his staff have attended many courses regarding state-of-the-art treatments in dentistry, including extensive training in Cosmetic, Restorative and Computerized Dentistry. He has been utilizing the state-of-the-art Cerec CAD/CAM Instrument for over 15 years. Dr. John Denison has also trained in the use of oral appliances for sleep apnea.

Dr. Denison believes that going to dental school was one of the best decisions he has ever made. He loves all aspects of his job. He enjoys working with people, running the business and doing the dentistry. He became involved in dentistry after realizing it would allow him to combine his creative side and his scientific knowledge. One of his favorite parts of the job is seeing the finished results of treatments that transform a person from having poor oral health to having a beautiful functional smile. Dr. Denison finds it so rewarding to see that patients reaction when they first see and realize the results.

Dr. Denison is married and has two children. The best part about living in Newport News is its proximity to such a diverse list of places that he loves, including the Outer Banks, the Eastern Shore, Virginia Beach, Richmond, Washington, D.C., andBaltimore, to name a few! When he is not in the office, he enjoys surfing, boating, going to the beach or the mountains. Healso enjoys doing artwork, including painting, drawing and woodworking.

Sherri joined Denison Family & Cosmetic Dentistry in 2011 as the office manager. Sherri maintains a strong interest in the medical field and medical insurance filing and wants to make a difference in patients lives by helping them save money through offering affordable dental care options. She loves working with the team at Denison Family & Cosmetic Dentistry.In her spare time, Sherri enjoys spending time with her family, visiting wineries and sitting on the dock fishing. She also enjoys shooting sports, reading and baking pies.

Shelby joined Denison Family & Cosmetic Dentistry in 2014. She serves as our administrative assistant and marketing coordinator. Shelby has a passion for meeting new people, serving patients and customer services. Working at the front desk is the first line of communication with patients and she loves being able to help them relax if they are nervous or assist with any questions they may have.In her spare time, Shelby enjoys spending time with her husband Eric and their two dogs Tyson and Mia. She loves being outside especially in the summer and going to the beach with friends and family. Fun fact about Shelby: she is also a wedding planner!

Tammy joined Denison Family & Cosmetic Dentistry in 1999 as a dental assistant. She enjoys watching the smile transformations after cosmetic treatments.In her spare time, Tammy loves spending time with her family and watching football and baseball. She also enjoys reading and living close to the beach.

Rachel joined Denison Family & Cosmetic Dentistry in 1998 as a registered dental hygienist. She has a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from Old Dominion University. She enjoys taking care of patients and is passionate about oral health care and its effects on total health care. In her free time, Rachel enjoys cycling, paddle boarding, gardening, sports and cooking.

Karen joined Denison Family & Cosmetic Dentistry in 2010 as a registered dental hygienist. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from Old Dominion University. She loves developing relationships with her patients and really getting to care for them. She also loves watching them transition into healthy, happy people. In her free time, Karen enjoys going to the gym, attending concerts, traveling, gardening, riding ATVs at her moms mountain cabin and going to the beach.

Breeann joined Denison Family and Cosmetic Dentistry as a dental hygienist after she graduated from ODU with a Bachelors in Dental Hygiene. She enjoys working with periodontal patients and patients with dental anxiety. Breeann has always been interested in the dental field and helping patients. Her favorite part of the job is getting to meet all different types of people. In her free time, she collects patterned socks to wear with her scrubs and she also enjoys painting to relieve stress.

Laura joined Denison Family & Cosmetic Dentistry as a dental assistant in 2012. She loves her job and enjoys meeting and helping new people every day. Her special areas of interest include large crown and bridge cases and seeing the joy on her patients faces when the procedure is done. Laura loves working with Dr. Denison and the team at Denison Family & Cosmetic Dentistry. In her spare time, Laura enjoys traveling, hanging out with her dogs, reading books, going to concerts and spending time with her family.

Erica has been a dental assistant for Dr. John Denison since 2017. While completing the dental assisting program at ECPI, she completed an externship with Dr. Denison. Within the dental field, Erica has special interests in endodontics, crowns and bridge procedures. She loves helping and communicating with patients. In her free time, Erica enjoys cycling, watching movies, reading and hiking.
