North Central Health Cares roots can be traced back to 1893 with the opening of the Marathon County Asylum for the Insane. Despite the stigma that term carries in some circles, this was a center built to feel like home and provide people with the compassionate care they needed. In 1910, the Marathon County Home and Hospital began providing care for people specifically to treat tuberculosis. In 1916, Rib View Sanitarium began providing the first forms of nursing home care for the community. The organization that would go on to create North Central Health Care played a prominent role in the creation of all of these institutions.
North Central Health Care was formed in 1972 as a partnership between Marathon, Lincoln, and Langlade Counties. This marked the first formation of a multi-county system of care. As we approach 50 years of care as North Central Health Care, we have continually evolved to meet the needs of a constantly changing and diverse community.
We measure success by our ability to provide individuals with customized care programs that suit their lifestyle and help them reach their personal goals. We work closely with patients, friends, family, and primary care providers to design a truly personalized care plan.

We know that our patients may receive services in any of our facilities in Marathon, Langlade or Lincoln County and by any one or more of our exceptional teams. North Central Health Care is a not-for-profit organization and our fees are based on our cost to provide care in our communities. As part of our continued commitment to improving price transparency for you and empowering patients through better access to price information, North Central Health Care now offers a Price Transparency Tool that you may use to access additional information about your healthcare costs.
No one will be denied access to services due to an inability to pay. North Central Health Care has a maximum monthly payment schedule available. Upon enrollment, an application form will be provided to you. Your monthly payment will be calculated based on the financial information you provide.
It is required your application for the maximum monthly payment schedule be submitted with verification of earned and unearned income. Verification of income includes your most recent tax return or two recent pay stubs and records of other income. These may include social security, veterans and/or pension benefits, self-employment income and rental income. Unearned income to be reported includes interest, unemployment compensation, workers, compensation, child support and alimony.
Unless it is determined your monthly payment is zero, your monthly payment will be expected until your account has been paid in full. North Central Health Care does accept MasterCard and VISA for payment of services.
It is the policy of North Central Health Care to appropriately pursue collections of all monies due the facility from third party payors, the client, or other responsible parties. Collection procedures follow the Department of Health and Social Services Maximum Monthly Payment Schedule, and State and Federal collections laws.
Please be aware of your insurance policy limits. Certain services by certain providers may or may not be covered by your insurance plan. It is the patient's/guardian's responsibility to contact your insurance carrier or employer to discuss your plan coverage.
North Central Health Care provides various types of assessments, evaluations, therapy and counseling, both individual and group. For these services we do charge a fee. The fees vary by provider type and the length of the visit.
In calculating fees, please note that the provider may include some preparation for individual or group services. In assessments and evaluations, we may include time spent by the professional staff reading and understanding previous evaluations, scoring tests which have been administered and report preparation.
