The Academy of General Dentistry. He is a more than 20 year member of this group of healthcare practitioners who train continuously in all aspects of general dentistry. He was presented with hisFellowship Awardfrom the Academy in recognition of his achievements in the field. This is an award held by less than 5% of dentists in the United States.
Graduate of a three yearEsthetic DentistryProgramfrom theAlto Dental Education at the University of San Francisco School of Dentistry.This program emphasized conservative and cosmetic enhancement of smiles.

Dr Burkholder is married and has a son and daughter. When not spending time with them he enjoys photography, reading and outdoor activities including hiking and fly fishing. He is an avid South Dakota historian and published author on the open range era in that state.
Charmain has enjoyed working with Dr. Burkholder since 2003. She has over 15 years of experience in dentistry & has worked in various aspects of the dental industry starting as a chairside dental assistant for several years prior to assuming front desk responsibilities. Charmain believes this diversity of experience gives me a true appreciation of working with Dr. Burkholder because of his strong dental ethics & values. Charmain takes pride working in a practice that is education focused and being able to pass that on to patients for optimal dental & gum tissue care. Her favorite aspect of her job is furthering her knowledge through continuing education and facilitating effective relationships with patients. Charmain enjoys managing all administrative facets of the practice & is committed to providing the best information to patients and gets gratification from solution-finding and providing insight in regards to dealing with dental insurance.
Farideh has brought a wealth of experience to our prevention-oriented practice since 2009. Prior to becoming a dental hygienist she had been a registered dental assistant for 12 years. She proudly earned her degree in dental hygiene in 2007 at Cabrillo College and is a member of the American Dental Hygienists Association and California Dental Hygienists Association.
Additionally she works with a well known periodontist specialist where she trains and enjoys staying current with the newest periodontal health strategies. Farideh takes pride in building relationships with her patients and coaching them to achieve their dental health goals.

Dr. Burkholder is a great dentist and a really nice guy. His office staff is helpful and friendly. I have been going to him for about 30 years and I would hate having to go to anyone else. His work is excellent and thorough, he takes the time to explain things fully. What more can I say?

Dr. Burkholder's practice is fantastic. I've been a patient for over 6 years, and I've consistently had great experiences. Dr. Burkholder emphasizes prevention and patient education, setting you up for long-term success. I can't recommend the practice highly enough!

This practice is what full service primary dentistry should look like. I've been a patient of Dr. Burkholder for nearly 30 years and he has provided care for my entire family since the birth of our daughter in 1993. Dr. Burkholder focuses on prevention, and he is an excellent educator aside from his being a wonderful dentist. He customizes his discussions and remembers your particular case, so you get a fully-engaged practitioner giving you all the knowledge you can absorb to keep your teeth and gums healthy. His team is stellar and stable, so you get a full family dentistry feel. -Charmain handles all the administrative, billing, scheduling with professionalism and warmth. I believe she was with the practice already as a young woman when I joined. What a treasure! -Farideh is a kind and gentle dental hygienist with excellent skills, using all the most modern tools to keep one comfortable. I enjoy our conversations about her native Iran and her occasional travel there to visit family. -Vivian, as the Registered DA, assists Dr. Burkholder during procedures -- which thanks to the prevention work, I have not needed as much. But you will also see her assisting Farideh to document depth of pockets in the gum and in other team roles. And don't forget to ask Dr. Burkholder about his bees and his latest honey harvest.... I trust Dr. Burkholder and his hygienist with my 69+ year old teeth because he and she give honest, professional, and super competent dental care. Our history together goes back to the 1990's. There is no better dental office anywhere and that includes the friendly and well-organized receptionist Charmaine.

I've been going here since I was a little kid, and despite living a decent ways away, I still refuse to go anywhere else. Quality, consistency and the friendliness of John, Charmain and the team here are nothing I want to give up. That and I've also never had a cavity :) Highly recommend.

I've been going to Dr. Burkholder for many many years now. He is my savior. When I first started with him, I had serious problems with my gums, with many number 6 and 7 pockets. I am pleased to say that for a few years now, after much work, my gums are finally in perfect shape. When I first started going to Dr. Burkholder he took the time to explain everything necessary to get my mouth to the point of health so that I would be able to keep my original teeth for my lifetime. If I had not been lucky enough to find him at the time I did, I'm sure my mouth would not be in the state of health it is now. That's why I call him my savior! In addition, because I have a very small mouth, I easily frequently gag when getting dental work...even when having cleanings. He and his staff are so patient and kind, always stopping when necessary to give me the time needed to recover. I have since moved out of his area, but travel about an hour an half each way to get to him. I don't hesitate because I know I am always getting the best care. I am fortunate to be continuing under his care, and am always quick to recommend him to my friends and colleagues.
