Worst office experience ever. Dentist is unconcerned and aware of his unruly staff, and his worst employee Tonia Martin. I had my first cleaning with no error, but after I had to have a crown placed the issues began. I went to have the temp crown put in and was never given instructions on after care, no paper detailing what to do, and no pain medicine recommended or prescribed, not even a Tylenol prescription if I couldn't get the medicine myself. I called the office and explained I was having pain and never got any instructions, Tonia Martin answered and when told about my pain, explained, "they never have patients complain of pain after a crown ever", completely disregarding my known issue with my tooth. I was then given fly by medications (some that induced bleeding) I could potentially take, now a bit untrusting with Tonia (the administrative assistant) I asked for Dr. Reed to give me a call. I explained things to my mother who wanted to contact the office to verify the info I was given. Tonia began to be rude to my mother (a RN) and claimed her 30 plus years of being something besides an RN, and certainly not a dentist, gave her the right to basically berate my mother, and myself previously. I never received a call from Dr. Reed. I had another appointment for the actual crown two weeks after this incident, and should have taken my money and business elsewhere, seeing now the reviews on his staff previously, and nonchalant approach to patient experience. I am one of the few black patients in the office, and the staff makes sure to remind me with any interaction. I went to the second appointment, and sat in the lobby as I was 25 or so minutes early. I was scrolling through my phone and heard someone from behind the desk yell "what's the name", mind you I knew it wasn't my time to check in. I continued to scroll. Then a much harsher "the name" was again yelled from behind the desk, I look up too see who is yelling, and see a young woman looking at me. I asked if she was speaking to me, and she said yes, I let her know that I wasn't sure the first time because she was yelling through the lobby from the desk, and my appointment wasn't quite yet. Her and Tonia scoffed, and when I told her my name she simply said ok. I asked why I was called, and was explained they thought I was someone delivering something. Insulting to say the least. This was my third time at the office. Paying today the remainder of $420 dollars to be serviced. When I went back I let Dr. Reed know that I asked for a callback and he brushed me off saying that he instructed his staff to "tell me" about the medications to take. I reiterated I asked for a call from him, and don't appreciate the way myself or my mother were treated, and interactions had with the staff. I asked if we could speak in private, and he claimed i could "call the office and he'd speak with me". I didn't trust my message would get through, as it hadn't before. I specified I wanted him to do the crown, as before an assistant did most of the work and I barely saw him. I left things be, not expecting to have to speak to him or Tonia Martin for another year. I was called for a 6 month cleaning, and checked the day before the appointment to see if my new insurance was covered, and asked if they could contact my insurance or let me know my copay. I was transferred to Tonia, who wears billing's hat as well. Was told it was a courtesy to file a claim?! And denied allowing me to speak to Dr. Reed after I asked if she could perhaps just get my new info, and being refused that as well. I was told I always have an issue, (which was as untrue as impossible) and was spoken to disrespectfully again. I was finally put on hold and was then told Dr. Reed said it's not an emergency and he would speak to me in the morning. The audacity to think I would come back and continue to spend money, while he showed no concern for me as a patient, or cared about my continuous issues with his unprofessional staff.

While I do not have an issue with Dr. Reed himself, his staff will be his ruin. I saw Dr. Reed on August 18 where he stated I would need a root canal and a new bridge. He gave the information to Tanya while I was standing there (front office) and asked her (in front of me) if she needed to write anything down. She declined. I advised Tanya that I would need a predetermination from my insurance so I would know my out of pocket expenses. She advised she would contact me as soon as possible with this info as Dr. Reed stated this procedure needed to be done quickly for fear of my tooth breaking. I called Tanya approximately mid September to inquire if she had heard anything about my predetermination. She advised she would return me call within 24 hours. She never called. I called again on October 1 at 11:53 AM and was advised my call would be returned in 24 hours. No call was forthcoming. I called again on October 5 and was transferred by Tanya to another assistant and was given information about braces. At this point, obviously the ball had been dropped so poorly that she couldn't even remember why I was calling. That office assistant quoted me $1194 at this time because she was doing her best to help me. They set an appointment for October 14 after I agreed to this price. On October 12, Tanya called and said Dr. Reed would be out of the office and needed to change my appointment. I agreed to the new date of October 13. They arranged to remove my wire for my braces for the procedure with my orthodontist. Then Tanya called me back and stated that my predetermination had been, and I quote, "kicked out" and my actual cost would be $2502. When I stated I would need to wait and have more time to come up with that much more money, she hung up on me. I called my insurance company to determine my coverage and they advised that a predetermination had NEVER been requested by Dr. Reed's office. Having said all that, if you wish to continue using Dr. Reed's office, know that Tanya is not capable of handling your information in a timely or correct manner.

I started with my own fears of the dentist but the staff and Dr. John Reed are the best. My entire family is switching to his office. It's always class A service and a wonderful environment. I would recommend you check it out if you haven't already.

I first saw Dr. Reed in March 2020 because I was experiencing pain and wanted that checked out before my first cleaning with his practice. After a very brief examination he wanted me to see a specialist, which was fine but I got the feeling of being pushed off like he didn't want to be bothered by me and that my discomfort was not so important. I figured maybe my next visit for my cleaning would be better. Last week I had my cleaning and my son had one at the same time as well. Again very brief examination by Dr. Reed after my cleaning and no feeling of caring interaction. I felt like I was just a pay check. My son has some issues with overcrowding in his teeth and its obvious but Dr. Reed didn't take any time to discuss how we could approach treatment for this. Just a nice to meet you see you in six months. I feel I gave this practice a fair try but I'm disappointed and will not be returning. I will say though that the cleanliness was outstanding and the staff was friendly.

I've been a patient of Dr. Reed since he was in his previous building. I have received nothing but excellent care in my time with Dr. Reed and his staff. Every single person I have interacted with has been courteous and competent which is in stark contrast to my previous provider. Anyone looking for high quality dental care in a relaxed environment should feel a high degree of confidence that this dental practice is just what you're looking for.
